I really like both, but I’d say I like LJ more, more so because I’m more into the gameplay when, well, *playing the game*. Especially the combat, and LJ’s is just superior on so many levels. As well as it’s side content, fuckin’ loved the School Stories. Kaito Files was also amazing, and it also makes LJ the 2nd game in the series to have two playable characters with several fighting styles, albeit one of them has 2 less than the other, but it’s still great. JE doesn’t exactly have as much going for it in comparison. Like, it’s not on the same level as Yakuza 6 of being a literal tech demo, but there’s also not as much side-content as something like friggin’ Yakuza Kiwami 2. LJ’s story’s also great, and the English Dub, too (of course, not saying the Japanese Dub isn’t, it always is with this series). Although in that regard, JE’s is mostly better. So all in all, while JE has a greater story and decent gameplay, LJ has a great story and spectacular gameplay. And for that, I prefer LJ.
