I hope I have some good amount living time left to watch and enjoy my own development. I have no other goal then going from one to an other practice and learn and enjoy from it. Thanks for supporting. 😊wim

Thanks Diane for the conversation about Brittany. During our travels we never went in that direction. I lived in Buenos Aires (Argentina) when my late husband and I visited France, but we only stayed in Paris for a few days. Due to your comments, I researched Brittany on Wikipedia and am a little bit less ignorant. 🙃 ...And by the way, I love what you paint and the way you explain what and why you do things.

I learned at least one thing from this video!! So excited! I can't wait to try it. I've only begun drawing & watercoloring just in the past year & a half (I'm 67 😁, started a bit late lol). I've struggled with wildflower/herb stems becoming too thick! I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong....until I saw you painting a nice, thin stem (several actually). You had your hand down low near the bristles but not *on* them, and close to the paper....and I almost shouted, "Eureka"!!!! So I have been busy today but I will try your technique tonight. I'm so ecstatic, cannot wait!! 😁😁😁 thanks Diane!! PS, I was trying to upgrade my tier to support you on Patreon. I was on a lower tier, and as I explained to my hubby, how good it is to support people like you who give US so much!! It's only right, and it's only a few bucks!! I appreciate you, and want to support your work. But I can't go up any higher, it won't let me finish! Can you tell me what to do? I try to upgrade, but it says, it didn't go through, please retry. Can you help? Thanks Diane 🌹

Hi Julie, thanks so much for your lovely comments, and I’m so glad you have started to paint, no time like the present! I’m sorry to hear you are having problems with Patreon membership. Sadly there is nothing we can do to help as we don’t have any control of the system used by Patreon. All I can suggest is that you try contacting them by email and asking them to solve the problem. I did have the same sort of thing happen to me recently when I tried to subscribe to another creator on Patreon and the system wouldn’t work. Eventually it did work. Good luck and thanks so much for your generosity, it is very much appreciated by both of us xxxxx

Never thought of using my gardening books for subject matter. Mind you, I have tried painting the dying sunflowers……it turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself, considering I only decided to try my hand at painting, a couple of months ago. First time at doing art. Practicing might be a good idea.

I was so sad I had to give away my extensive herb (in USA the h is silent) garden we moved 1600 miles right before the dreaded big P happened. From tropical South Carolina to the high mountain desert climate!
5 things I missed the most was my dentist, specialist doctors, hairdresser & great Grocery stores! & my Herb Garden!
New Mexico economy was destroyed by our tyrannical governor !
That's a soapbox I will not get on or this would be never ending post!
I empathize with you very much! Keep praying we get back to normalcy!

Hi Deirdre, it's a small world! I was in that area in the 70s - we might have passed on the streets! I lived for a while in East Malling, and for a long time in Borough Green, and often drove up Detling Hill when I worked in Chatham and on the Isle of Sheppey. I had friends who lived near Detling. We got married in Wrotham church - you will no doubt remember some of these place names. We also lived in Canterbury for some years, so Kent is my old stamping ground so to speak, and I always feel more at home here than anywhere else in the world, having been born and raised all over the county!

@@DianeAntoneStudio wow...it is a small world! I remember the area well. Chatham was such a pretty place. I lived in London as I worked at the South African embassy for a couple of years. That’s what allowed me to stay in England for so long. I probably would have stayed if I had been able to. Africa is beautiful on a grand scale but England is incredibly pretty. Also, I prefer the climate. I don’t enjoy the heat! Thank God it’s autumn here and starting to cool down. I hope your visit to the dentist goes well.

Hi Deb, I think there is a solution to the print out and I’m going to write a description of exactly how to do it and put it everywhere for all to see. I think you just hadn’t followed the process through far enough. Here is my guide, sorry it’s long, but it does help! HOW TO Download FREE Sketches from DIANE ANTONE WEBSITE
      FINDING ALL THE SKETCHES
There are two ways of finding the free sketch you want, and one way only of downloading it properly. Don‘t attempt to download or print from the square preview on the page as this will not show the whole sketch. Follow these instructions carefully and you will succeed.
If you choose to purchase and pay for any of these digital sketches you‘re supporting our channel and helping to make it possible for us to do the work we do, to support YOU on your art journey. For which we are truly grateful.
FIRST STEP in finding the SKETCH DOWNLOAD PAGES
You have three ways to access the sketches.
      1. You can either go to dianeantone.com/ and click on sketches in the menu bar at the top of the page. Once here, you can choose either “Free sketches from recent videos” or to go to older sketches, you choose a year. We also have bundles and groups of popular sketches available from here.
      2. Or alternatively you can click on this link to go to recent sketches directly dianeantone.com/free-downloads/
      3. If you scroll down the home page you will also find easy to access links to the sketches which you click on to go to the download pages.
      FINDING A SPECIFIC SKETCH
      METHOD 1
      1. When you arrive at this page dianeantone.com/free-downloads/ you will see lots of square images of sketches. THIS IS NOT THE ACTUAL SKETCH - this is just a preview.
      2. You have a choice now. If you’re not looking for anything particular, you can scroll through them until you find one you like. Or if you are looking for the most recent sketches, they will show up first. When you find one you want, CLICK on the sketch name and it will open in a new page.
      3. Follow the instructions on that page and add it to your basket, with your chosen price or put $0 in the price box if you wish to have it for free.
      4. When you have added as many sketches as you want, click on VIEW BASKET
      5. Then click on PROCEED TO CHECKOUT
      6. Then fill in your BILLING DETAILS and complete the form. If you have selected to pay zero you will not be charged anything.
      7. You will now see a screen which says DOWNLOADS
      8. Click the name of the sketch you wish to download.
      9. The sketch should appear on your screen ready to print or go into a downloads folder depending on your device.
      FINDING A SPECIFIC SKETCH
      METHOD 2
When you arrive at this page dianeantone.com/free-downloads/ you will see a SEARCH BUTTON at the top of the page (magnifying glass).
Click on it and type in the box the name or part name of the video you are looking for the sketch of. You will see results and you can select what you want.
The sketch page for that choice will open and you can proceed as in the instructions above from point 3.

Love all the lovely herbs. It seems so easy. I will definitely try this. You didnt put the flower on tha alcamilous mollies. Does that mean the flower is not useful in medical medicine - ????

I loved watching this. I hope I can paint just one. Suddenly I feel like I can’t paint at all. I grab my paint brush and I just panic and stiffen up. Does this happen to anyone else? I’m so upset with myself. Your painting is so fluid and lovely, Diane. I want just a teeny bit of that!!

Hi Angie, yes - YES - it happens to all of us! I have almost given up painting entirely more than once because of this sort of paralysis. It happens for so many reasons. Sometimes it happened to me because of people's comments, sometimes my health, sometimes pressure of work, and sometimes for no reason at all. Try painting something big and splashy with a large brush and cheap paper and paint and promise yourself you'll throw it out when it's done no matter what. Then you might find the block breaks. Have fun, enjoy!

@@DianeAntoneStudio Thank you, Diane. Knowing that it happens to a painter like you makes me feel better. I’ll take your advice. We are our own worst critics. I know that. I’ll do exactly what you say. I’ll splash pretty colors around on cheap paper and throw it in the bib.

@@darleneplant.6284 Shall we both follow Diane's advice. I think the trouble (with me, anyway) is that I become totally goal oriented. I’m not at the point in my painting where everything is ok. I forget to enjoy the act of painting itself. Maybe it’s a woman thing. My husband can mess up a project and just start over without a worry. Good luck to us both, Darlene.

I think my brushes are a little too soft to get the, quick, fine lines.

Do you think the paints are worth the price? What is the biggest difference from say Paul Reuben , or other name brands?

    • @DianeAntoneStudio
      @DianeAntoneStudio  9 місяців тому +1

The A Gallo paints are definitely a luxury in my opinion. If you feel strongly about not buying from large companies and are happy to pay four times the price for handmade paints then this is a good choice. The paints are good, but to be honest, I am just as happy painting with cheaper paints for the kind of work I do. I was lucky and was given the A Gallo paints as a present, but I would not have bought them myself. For professional quality I would still stick to Winsor and Newton, Daler Rowney, Schmincke, Sennelier, Daniel Smith, M. Graham and Old Holland as my choice of brands with credibility and responsibility. For a beginner, I recommend Meeden because their price/quality ratio is good. Hope this helps!
