I have the 5SE and I wish I had bought the Evolution. The mount is great. U can set it up and start viewing without setting up
the go to. Great Mount. I may save up and buy one.

My primary interest is astrophotography. I see a few local sellers selling barely used 6SE's for under $800, which is tempting, but I don't want to regret the purchase later. I'd love to go for the 9.25 but I also want to take it on a short flight form Oahu to Big Island to use up on Mauna Kea (below the summit). If only money were no object.

@@TheAlienTechs - Thanks. I've owned a refractor before and I liked it, but I think next time I'd prefer a Schmidt-Cassegrain because I'd prefer deeper sky and planetary views. Perhaps the Celestron NexStar 8SE or similar would be a good compromise.

Celestron Edge Hd 8-inch will be even better....but will increase cost.

I don’t know if I want to get a 8SE or the 6SE but I think the 8SE is a a little too big

It seems to me that the nexstar mount is just enough to hold the 8se… hence the evo8 is significantly better than the 8se.
Now- at 6 inches- I don’t think the evolution offers a great advantage. I think the 6in is a great option… I’m considering the nextar 6se vs. the evolution 8… money is one issue, but size is also quite important. I’m still thinking about it.

Evo 8 n 8SE OTA are the same the only difference is the mount...
8SE n 6SE has the same mount...
Evolution 8 edge HD will also be a good choice

Let me rephrase: if going for a 6’- the nexstar 6se is great.
If going for a 8’ scope - the evolution 8 is better.
The thing is: there are a lot of reports online that the 8se has a mount that just barely supports the scope, it is wobbly for the 8in scope. It should not be a problem for the 6’, thou.

Yeah, I got it.
Btw, the 8SE mount is not that bad...
What I meant was that the OTA of 8SE n Evo 8 are the same. And the price difference is almost 600-800$ in these two scopes.
So I think the price is too much for the same OTA n a slightly better mount..
That's why I suggested "evo 8" edge HD" a better OTA...but an even better option would be "Evo 9.25" which costs slightly less than "Evo 8 edge HD"
Yeah you are right, 6SE is the best value for money choice if u r going for 6-inch. 🤗🤗

The actual focal length is on the tube! 2000mm NOT 1500 from the SE??? so Buzzz... video shows it with 2000mm as the front of the telescope turns! Fix review?

The specification ring next to the mirror plate on the SE says 1500mm.
