Thanks Mel, glad we could help.
Agreed.
Thanks Ryan, you're a champ. Took me about an hour, but I managed to get some quite nice looking circles for the first time ever! Very happy :)
I've learned about 10 different ways to throw a cast net, and this is by far the easiest and most successful way I've seen. Thank You
So happy we could help you out mate!
This is by far - the best technique!
Hey mate starting to watch a bit of your gear and got to say I've learnt a heap already. I'm only new to throwing a net and your video helped me out alot. Thanks for helping everyone out buddy.

Thanks Mate, picked up a net i haven't used since a i was a kid and followed your method. Works a treat. Hopefully i can now pick up some more live bait here around T'ville....Best way i have ever been shown...
No worries Mick. We have a new online course called locating livies course being released in October so be sure and sign up for email updates on our website Ryan Moody Fishing. It will show you where to find various livies here in the tropics which is the tricky part once you master the art of the throw!
Wow. Easy done. Got one other day keep throwing half way. Now i watch your video gonna go out now. Did it in backyard it worked. Thank u soo much

I think it is the easy and smooth way for cast net..thank you Bro.
SO SOOOOO NICE
THANKS
I've been watching a lot of videos on how to throw the castnet. I must say your method is the best I have ever seen! No need to put the lead or net in the mouth, but yet the net opens perfectly every time! Great job mate!
Grand Wonder thanks glad we could help. We have deadly jelly fish down here and the less you touch the net the better! And you don't get covered in stinky mangrove mud which is always a bonus.
Yes sir, your method is the best and cleanest by far! I taught my brother your method and he finally learned how to throw the castnet for the first time even though he has one for over a decade! Thanks again mate!
Thanks mate glad we could help!
Great way to throw this type of catnet. no useing elbows and getting wet.Never seen anyone throw like this in Trinidad & Tobago. Thanks for departing yr knowledge. May u always be succesful.

absolutely love this technique. I've tried a dozen others but this one is the only nearly foolproof method. took about 3 throws to get perfect circles with my 8 footer. showed it to my brother- in- law who had never thrown a net. in 3 throws he was throwing circles, amazing
That's great Jan glad it helped! More fishing tips over at our Ryan Moody Fishing blog as well. www.ryanmoodyfishing.com/blog/

Well after a few test throws and getting full circles with my 10 and 12 footers you've won me. Out with the old method in with the new. Really please I came across your UA-cam channel, plus I just registered my interest on your web site for the Barra basics course. Been doing alright in the creeks around Home Hill but the more tips, tricks and knowledge up your sleeve the better I reckon.
Thanks so much for your kind words Tony - so happy I could help you :) Hope to see you on the course one day mate! Cheers

GOOD VIDEO
Nicely Done!!! New Subscriber...
Been wanting to know how to do it properly, only find the American you tubers. Thank goodness I have found a tutorial from Ryan. I will practice more. Can I ask a good cast net to purchase?
great technique, good demonstration
I got it close 1st go too! No more over the shoulder for me id say. good video.
nice dry clean technique.
Nice
I am from Indonesia, and I really enjoyed watching your video. Good Job....👍👍👍
BOLANG Kaje'jen thanks mate!
@@RyanMoodyFishing I also have some great videos about catching fish if you like it.
Thanks u finally im not soaked when i cast
My method is similar to that. Learned it years ago from a man from Guyana. He was about 4'10 at most and threw a 16ft net while standing thigh deep in the water. He was pretty amazing with a net.
Wow that is amazing.
I have always thrown the net very similar to you but I rarely get such a nice spread like you. After watching your video I think I can see where I am going wrong. Thank you so much for this.
thanks
Excellent
Thanks Ry glad we could help.
Nice intro loudwire fan 👋
The luckiest people in the world are those who live in Australia.
Great video. I have now got it opening into a nice circle consistently. Thank you! I'm hoping to master being able to throw it from my kayak. Prefer to do it in sitting but if that doesn't work I will attempt in standing. It's a bit shaky just standing in the yak without casting but I have trained the cast without moving my feet out on the grass. Do you think this cast would work with less net hanging (instead of 1m more like 40-50cm)?
The best bet is just to try it and see Tim. I agree balancing on a yak would make it a bit tricky!
Veryyy good
Its been at least 10 years since I'd cast one. I remembered the arm motion but had forgotten the net gathering. Everyone I know puts it in their teeth. I've had dentures for many years and was certain my teeth would end up in the water. Plus putting lead in my mouth isn't appealing to me anyway. I have enough problems without pickling my gourd with lead.
Nice Vedio
nice throw mate
THANK YOU!
Our pleasure Mike
The best tecnique ive seen
Thanks Wayne. Glad we could help. I'd sure like a dollar for every fish I've caught in a cast net. I wouldn't be doing you tube videos haha.
V nice❤
best beautiful video sonar Bangla comedian thake thanks
What is the name of this style of cast net, I really want one of these. Tis for video and great instrctions. Finally a great way to catch bait.
bottom pocket
Was wondering if you could do a video on a monofilament 7ft no pocket cast net please Ryan. Do you use the same method as in this video?😊
Yep same method.
@@RyanMoodyFishingamazing I just tried it in the backyard threw a perfect circle second go thanks
Hi Ryan, just a quick question for you, can this method be used with a 6ft draw string net? Thanking you in advance for your answer. Cheers Mick
Mick Kapitzke yeah mate.
you're awesome
Excellent, you made it look easy, needs to try it your way. Randy can you tell me where to purchase that type of cast net? Thanks.
coachman56 any 5 panel cast net will do the job. The one in this video seahorse brand and you'll have to track them down in you local area. This one is 9foot spread. We have another video here on our channel on cast net types and their application which might also be worth a look before you purchase. Cheers
Randy not available in the Fort Myers area in Florida USA.
Nailed it first try. Left handed, but wasn't hard to do it backwards so to speak. Good shit for the easy to follow tutorial... Cheers mate..
Our pleasure Phil glad it helped.
hey nice technique..would this work for a 5-6ft net? thanks
Yes for suure JL. Works for any size net.
Hi keep wstching HERE.
Best video. After 3 throws i had it thanks for saving me get wet all the time
Our pleasure
Hey man when you start throwing around the 14 ft range do you think this will still work? I like it it works on my 10 .
Jason green we have a maximum size here of 12 but I've only used 9's and 10's otherwise they get too heavy. Sorry we couldn't help you'll just have to try it and find out. Cheers
I let you you know when my 14 footer is ready. That's the max here. I'll try to make a video to see if it works for those big nets. Thanks man!
yes its good way to cast not getting wet ok for getting a little bit of bait but if your going out to get some prawns hours of work on one arm you be feeling it, you be working the one arm out so some times you need to get wet to work for hours to even out the net over 2 arms
Can you tell me what brand casting net and size you use thank you
mark young thanks for the question. I think we cover that in our blog and video on cast net types. www.ryanmoodyfishing.com/cast-nets-for-catching-bait/
Sounds like the intro song for loud wires videos.
If tried that in my boat i would end up in the drink. But your way is a great to throw the net
Fantastic method, no more being covered in mud for me.
I guess this is Australia, near PNG. Am I correct?
santhosh kumar this is in Australia. On an island called Hinchinbrook Island.
i like going cast net fishing
Mantap
How large is the castnet in this video?
***** = 18 ft circle
spf202020 9 foot drop
hahahaha finally I found my mistake I wasn't doing the spin with my left hand and I also missed a step...somehow I did alright though. lol thanks mate, sick name by the way
I was actually named after the actor Ryan O'Neill - so even though you're clearly younger than me... I was actually named after you! haha
Hahaha Ive had a few people ask if I was named after him too.
Hi Ryan
Can you tell me what size net you used please
Its a nine foot drop but if you are throwing around gutters use a 8 foot. We have another video on here about cast nets and their applications.
ua-cam.com/video/-_O43cI-GTc/v-deo.html this might help too.
God that place looks beautiful!
BombillaShooter thanks it's Hinchinbrook Island in northern Australia. It's our paradise.
Any sort of adjustment needed for a drawstring?
candIejac I use this method it works great and my net is a pull string style, just have to watch out an check for tangles before hand and that you don't have ur pull strings tight in your hand that's hold the net you want everything loose
+acalarmarrrr Sorry we missed your question. No adjustment needed. I thrown my drawstring the same way.
Where's the last quadrant? Only three shown.......
10/10 best cast without getting urself soaked.
That sounds like it should take a class to learn
Here's a quick link to 1:39 for the throw technique.
Can u do this with a 12 foot net?
tye espo depends on how big you are. The technique works with any size net.
GOOD COACHING
+Ahmed Shuaib Anees Thanks glad we could help

I go the same technique but go a third in the left hand and a third in the right and use half the effort you’re using to throw it. But whatever works
What size net?

Strong Spartan 9 foot drop.
clear as crystal , 10x
Glad we could help
Is this type of fishing legal in Australian waters?
Yeah mate sure is
Abu-Sulaiman EL-BUSHNAQ but only in some states. Down south from where we live it’s not allowed.
Thank you Ryan. Australia is full of laws which differ from state to state.
Don't recognize the net. Appears to have no horne, nor brail lines for the horne to follow to the lead line to form a basket.
So it appears the net it is only applicable from the shore where you can slide it "slowly" up onto the sand, as it appears that once the lead line loses contact with the sand, the bait is free to swim out.
I don't see how you can lift it up to the bow of a boat or onto a dock since there are no brail lines to pull the lead line together to form a "trap".
Wondering if the technique will work equally well however with a brailed/horned net.
partner348 works perfectly well off a boat mate. There are pockets in the net that catch the bait. In deeper water I use a drawstring castnet. And for prawns I use a different one again. The different types are spelled out here: www.ryanmoodyfishing.com/cast-nets-for-catching-bait/
