4 gb is pretty obsolete nowadays unless if you're extremely casual and don't need to play games or produce anything. I believe the minimum is 8 gb. A bit of stuttering on newer games but works well enough for some e-sports titles like csgo or apex. _Don't expect it to run games that require higher ram usage. Just upgrade._ 16 gb is the sweet spot for gamers since it can run newer next-gen games with minimal to no stutters. 32 gb is for streamers who need multiple programs like obs and chrome running on the background or for artists that does heavy work on photoshop. 64 gb is approaching heavy film/animation/music production territory. Definitely overkill for games. And anything higher is overkill for most people unless you're working in really big companies that produce a lot of content. The thing is; Once you reach the optimal ram requirement, adding more won't actually give you more fps. You could upgrade to a faster ram instead and run dual channel.
All games tested here use max 9gb of ram. That means that games are optimized for working on 12-16 gb ram computers. That doesn't mean that 32 and more are useless. Since unused data is cached in the ram and when needed fetched from there instead of ssd or hdd. Cached game assets in ram means faster loading times.

Going from 8gb to 16gb is the biggest difference it literally adds up 25-30 fps more and that is huge considering the fact that some people actually play games on just 30fps
12GB is the sweet spot. I wish motherboards are designed to run Dual-channel 2x6GB and 2x12GB. Budget systems only want 12gb and enthusiasts want 24gb. I have 32gb and my ram use never went more than 19gb.
No 16gb is sweet spot, and 32 gb is recommended for most modern games (some games shutters even with 32gb) so we need dd5 32gb (16+16) with like 5000mhz or so..
We can conclude with this data: -16gb is the new sweet spot, and upgrading from 8gb to 16gb WILL give more fps. -8gb will become the new 4gb soon. -Anything above 16gb is overkill atm.
@KMSMista well that's funny cause I'm running with 16gb just fine while playing the division 2 with multiple programs in the background(mostly discord and Xbox app at the same time to talk with friends). Pretty sure 32gb isn't needed at all... Not for gaming yet anyways.

360 scope now you need at least 8gb minimum to play anything now a days 8gb is the most common and default ram amount for pcs anyway so i have 16gb of ram and its served me well
I've always been skeptical about putting huge amounts of ram and that's why I used to have only 8 gb until now. I went from 8GB (4 + 4) to 16 Gb (8 + 8), both dual channel mode ... and now I can say the difference really is noticeable. With 8Gb, games was much prone to stuttering / lags / loadings and frame-drops. For example this was noticeable in Detroit: Become Human. I heard a lot of people and industry websites saying something like: "If your pc never goes in" thrashing "(ram saturation and thus massive use of the hard disk) .. then you don't need more ram." That's not completely true and I will explain why: Programs and games, nowadays use a certain percentage of ram, they can detect if there is plenty available or if you're near the edge. They can "decide" to store MORE or less data depending on the amout available. They try to avoid to saturate RAM in any case. This means that even if you don't see the pc "thrashing" during a game session or a program use, it doesn't mean the program has no more data to store in ram and couldn't benefit by doing so.
@@iikatinggangsengii2471 I play latest games on 8gb ram and GTX 1070 TI on high and ultra and get 60-144 fps, Far Cry 6 runs at 80 fps on high and Forza Horizon runs at 90 fps at ultra, games like Apex Legends run at 144+ fps, 8 gb is still pretty sufficient in 2022
It's shitty but it's not completely unplayable tbh. Honestly though, 16GB of RAM is cheap enough nowadays to where that should be standard. Plus since 2x8GB is what it comes in, you get a boost to CPU performance by using dual-channel memory. Personally, I splurged on 32GB of RAM. Being able to turn off the page file and stop giving a shit about memory feels pretty nice, not gonna lie.
Hard to say because he is running a high end system that can utilize 16gb very well. Need to see a vid with i3 and gtx 1660 etc and how their performance changes with varying ram sizes to understand how much it affects the average gamer.
Deividaxxx but upgrading will be a problem as you will be forced to remove the 4gb sticks to upgrade, but if you have 2x 8 gb you can get another 2x 8gb for 32gb in 4 slots
@@Deividaxxx If you have a high end system that supports quad channel then 4x4GB would be better than 2x8GB. If you have a consumer level (Z390 or X570 etc.) system then 2x8GB is better: They are dual channel so they don't get any performance boost from more than two sticks.
Just upgrade._
16 gb is the sweet spot for gamers since it can run newer next-gen games with minimal to no stutters.

I heard a lot of people and industry websites saying something like: "If your pc never goes in" thrashing "(ram saturation and thus massive use of the hard disk) .. then you don't need more ram."
That's not completely true and I will explain why: Programs and games, nowadays use a certain percentage of ram, they can detect if there is plenty available or if you're near the edge.
They can "decide" to store MORE or less data depending on the amout available. They try to avoid to saturate RAM in any case.
This means that even if you don't see the pc "thrashing" during a game session or a program use, it doesn't mean the program has no more data to store in ram and couldn't benefit by doing so.
Thank you

If you have a high end system that supports quad channel then 4x4GB would be better than 2x8GB. If you have a consumer level (Z390 or X570 etc.) system then 2x8GB is better: They are dual channel so they don't get any performance boost from more than two sticks.
