Success! Took the plastic housing of the back of the ignition lock and removed the switch mechanism from the housing. Gave it a good squirt with contact cleaner, reassembled and it started first time!! Thanks Pezza 👍👍
Exact issue I’m encountering now. Had not used the bike for over two months - and “this” happened. Thankfully, contact cleaner through the key slot kinda helped. But you’re right. Best would be to disassemble and clean it properly.
Thanks for the link. First chance I've had to watch and look at the issue. My fault isn't quite the same. I don't have the ign off reading, the display etc was just dead. All the light worked etc. I've had the battery out as the positive terminal was covered in corrosion. I'll clean that up first, give it a full charge and see how we go! I've suspected the barrel is a but dodge also, it sometimes needs a but of encouragement engage. I put this down to the low use I give the poor bike.
Have a problem with the key barrel. Bike would shut off while riding. I’d turn the key off and on, and would fire up again. Thinking a new key barrel would solve it. Thanks for this. :)

I found this video trying to solve my problem with G650Gs (2012): cockpit lights all right, but no headlight and no cranking of the engine, I hear a click from the relay, nothing happens. Park lights and blinkers work though, nothing else. Side stand/clutch switch? What else? Any idea? thank you !
@@BigPezza Battery ok, but some developments: clutch switch, fuses checked and ok,. Discovered that when violently lowering the side stand the headlight goes on. Concluded the problem was in the side stand switch. Tried to bypass the switch connection the white/red wire, then brown and white, then all three together, headlight works but the engine still doesn't crank and when I try the headlight goes off...drives me nuts!!
