Is Ricky Pearsall a TOP-5 receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft? | Florida WR Scouting Report & Film

- Опубліковано 1 кві 2024
- The draft stock of Ricky Pearsall has been rising a lot over the past few weeks after he performed very well at the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine, but where does that leave his stock ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft? Is he actually worthy of being a first-round pick, or is he getting overrated in the mainstream consensus right now?
Today, we'll be attempting to answer that question by diving into his tape to determine the strengths and weaknesses of his game! Stick around for the end when I give my final grade and overall thoughts about him!
As always, thanks for watching this video, and be sure to like and subscribe if you want to see more content like this. Also be sure to check out the other draft videos on the channel if you want to see more!

Who else a 49er fan going video to video learning about him? 🤣🤝
I honestly like this dude. He’s tough, has great hands and seems like a great route runner.
@@Kaisaccountthis tape is good but against college guys hoping he can hang with the best nfl has
@@nadecha5326 most of his game will translate to the nfl level.
Imo hes just gunna be an option runner. I don't think he'll ever be the main play
Real Niners fans already knew everything about him.
You hit it on the nail with him being drafted to the 49ers, great work dawg!!!
Much appreciated! Definitely a stud
How is drafting someone at 31st who is never gonna see the field a good pick
SPOT ON! Late 1st rnd, 6th WR picked. NICE!
Haha appreciate the love! Be sure to sub🤝
How is picking so.eone who will never see the field at 31 nice. Plz explain
@@stevebratti7515this would normally mean that deebo or ba will be gone. So yes, he’ll see the field.
He's not gonna play fam watch. They made all this big mess over Grey as well. How much of a burner he was how he was the next such and such and only seen the field 2x stop it this is a bust
@@stevebratti7515 I'm guessing your one of the peeps who said BA going to be a bust, and WTF were the niners doing trading up in the 1st round to take a 3rd round receiver ?? you part of that clan ? cause you sure sounding like it right now. LOL
Bang bang I think he is going to be bad ass
The fan base hates this pick, but Kyle is gonna have fun with him and squeeze all the potential.
💯 he'll find his potential with the Niners.
Not the whole fan base hates it. Unfortunately, the Niners have a very whiney, very vocal minority that gets fed by the likes of Grant Cohn.
Fan base us into the pick
Wait until you see him catching passes from Purdy, especially when the 49ers have Deebo & Aiyuk & Kittle on the field at the same time 😂😂
yep. hes gunna be deadly. but deebo gunna miss at least 3 gms next year.
Late 1st round, yep you nailed that sir.
Your prediction of a late 1st round pick was spot on!
He gets separation with a mediocre QB and team at Florida against top college DB's. I think the 49ers can scheme plays for him all day long.
Slant king.
Do some research. His first year at Florida his QB was Anthony Richardson. AR was not an accurate passer. Last year Graham Mertz was much more accurate and Ricky’s numbers went up. But don’t eat the facts get in the way of your narrative. Ricky is a baller.
Is he a 1st rounder? Thats debatable...is he a good fit for the 49ers? With his skill set, yes...his route running with Shanahan's ability to scheme players wide open with pre-snap motions and player placement sets him up for success...he did most of his work in the intermediate game something thats the 49ers bread and butter...to put it plainly the guy looks like a 49ers receiver...he actually reminds me of BA when he came out of Arizona athletic route runner and dude dont drop passes
bang on with your grade! and good assessment, as a niners fan this pick actually is making a lot of sense given the early run on tackles
Exactly! It makes no sense to take a project tackle prospect that won’t be able to contribute in the first year. Might as well draft a player you like a ton even if it’s a bit early. I’m interested why they chose him over cooper desean,or kool aid, but I have faith they have a plan to address those positions later in the draft.
Excited for this guy, hopefully he’s good for us
As a 49ers fan watching this video who didn't like the pick, here is one thing I'll say in his favor: if Brock Purdy has taught me anything, it's taught me to always be aware of how a guy was used in college and how things that he might do well won't show up on his college tape simply because he wasn't asked to do that.
He is going to be good for us: Ready to play, good route runner, smart, and he'll be 29 when his rookie contract comes off. If he does well, then we can see about Deebo and Aiyuk next summer when it's time to pay brock. Solid pick, I know we needed OL and Guard, but at the end of the round, this is good value. And then we stole the C from Michigan!
@@Recontramojado My problem with the pick is not the player, my problem is the terrible strategy involved in making this pick. The outcome might be fine, but the decision making process that went into it is highly questionable.
@@SuperSupersoda But, but, the decision making is probably similar to what I said. I see no issues. There were other teams who wanted receivers after the niners, and only a couple guys who would be good talent in positions of need. Let's not act as if they were picking at 15. This was the second to last first round pick. Yeah, I liked Cool Aid, or De Jean a bit more. But I think that's marginal talent. Could they have tried to move up and pick a good OL prospect? perhaps they tried and the trade was not there. I see a solid draft overall, given that we were picking late in every round.
@@Recontramojado This is simple resource allocation logic: Pearshall is your #4 WR next season, and the 49ers never run 4 WR formations, and rarely run 3 WR formations, which is why as good as Juwan Jennings has been, he has so much trouble getting on the field. A #4 WR won't see the field, it's not in the nature of the Shanahan zone-running scheme, which relies heavily on a TE and a FB on the field for every play.
Meanwhile, the single weakest starter on the entire team is Jake Brendel, the center, and there were two super blue chippers at center, either of whom would have been a massive week 1 upgrade over Brendel, sitting on the board and available. You took Pearshall, a guy who will never play due to the design of the offense, over two centers who will play week 1 and who will be big upgrades for you. The resource allocation makes NO sense, it's terrible.
Pearshall may be great, doesn't matter if the offensive play design means he never sees the field. Nothing about Kyle Shanahan indicates he's changing his offensive play designs and philosophy for a rookie. Meanwhile, you had two blue chip prospects available, either of whom would upgrade your biggest weakness.
That is roster construction and resource allocation malpractice. It's objectively terrible draft strategy and decision making. Would you spend a first round pick on a kicker? Because I'm going to tell you, a #4 WR in the Shanahan scheme will not see the field anywhere near as often as the kicker will.
@@SuperSupersoda Yeah, but you are ignoring the fact that BA or Deebo could be out (even jennings tender does not ensure he'll be back). I agree, Center and Right Guard were a priority, but still, I don't see it as dramatic, and I think Pearsall will play, either running sweeps, in returns, etc. I do agree there is an opportunity cost, but still. Not that dramatic.
Thank you for your honest assessment. It's good to see that you also point out the negatives. I hope my fellow 49ers fans also look forward to what he can contribute.
Don’t mind me just a 9ers fan doing my scouting reporting.
Your doing better then they did
Well, you called the draft status right on! #31 to the Niners, and the 6th WR taken. Now hopefully the rest of your positive predictions can come true as well. :)
Also, go Sun Devils! 🔱 (even transferred ones)
Utah Alumn. Saw Pearsall a ton both at Florida and ASU. Dude balls out. I will follow him in the Pros. Underrated. Limited by QB play in college. Jayden Daniels didnt know how to get him the ball.
Shanahan scheme is the best scheme to develop players
Pearsall will be a beast with Brock and B.A in SF !
I’m now feeling more confident in his abilities after this video. Hope he has a good future
Pearsall's Relative Athletic Score (9.91) is better than Tyreek Hill, DK Metcalf, Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, Ceedee Lamb, Brandon Aiyuk. The only Pro Bowl WR ive found with a better RAS was Calvin Johnson 9.99/10. To day Brian Thomas has better upside than an elite athlete like this is absolutely ridiculous
If you use RAS as the sole measurement of upside, then you'd have to say that Tez Walker has the 3rd highest ceiling in the class. Or you'd have to say that Pearsall has more upside than anybody not named Calvin Johnson, which is just stupid
It's good to see a good WR catches a bad pass.
Steve Smith Sr likes this dude, this means we are good, go 9ers !!
steve smith likes alot of the receivers in the 6-10 range theyre sneaky
stroud wanted him too.
One thing I will disagree with is the point you made about his age being a negative. I believe that with a year or two of NFL training/ reps he will only continue to get better. I think the best is yet to come with this kid. Especially at 24.
Nice grade! 31st to the 49ers
Whenever I saw Florida play, he stood out to me.
Wow, you called it! Late 1st round. Nice 👍🏻
Top 6! Dead on! All the evaluations+/- are just what the team that picked him saw.
late first round ? perfect for the niners!
1:55 this is chris collinsworth in SB XVI !
White Rice. Nobody thought Cooper Kupp was going to be the best WR in the NFL.
Apparently nobody realizes how much of an athletic freak Ricky is. Lol by the RAS/ Relative Athletic Score (pound for pound) standards he's more athletic than Tyreek Hill and DK Metcalf and every other pro bowl NFL WR currently in the league.
Smaller frame? He's 6'1...he's bigger and faster then Aman-Ra St brown and Brandon Aiyuk
Bang Bang
More athletic Cooper Kupp
Looking for our Cooper Kupp
I think he's slotted right in most ranking. Ricky is a late 2nd to mid 3rd. He has more than 3 drop passes. He doesn't have break away speed. Besides that one handed catch his tape doesn't wow me.
His max speed reached in the 40 was the same as most of the top guys….
@@jamesnelson8469But he's not big. You could see 6'3 plus at 4.4-40, but he could be average...The 49ers would have done better selecting a no name prospect than a player that will be a role player...
@@pattrell5257 bro be quiet omg. He’s got a 42 inch vertical he can go up and get a ball. He also had the second fastest shuttle and the fastest 3 cone. My teams best receiver is 6ft0 and ran a 4.43. Over 1200 yards last year. Ricky had a 98% athletic profile which takes into account his size, but you still gotta hate by obsessing over something like the 40. He also benched 17 reps.
Shanahan should be able to move him and deebo all over the place
Oh yeah!
This makes me think he’s an insurance pick for Deebo getting injured.
Hope he becomes the puahnakuta of the 49ers🤞🏻
Man you really butchered Puka Nacua's name lol
@@PlaySA💀
@@PlaySAAkuna Matata 🤣🤣🤣
No one can be Nacua, he was the beneficiary of a QB who throws first. Nacua is overrated, you can any receiver in this game and throw them the ball 10+ per game and they'll have the same numbers. Same for Cupp, Stafford targets him a ton every game. Nacua was the beneficiar of Cupp being hurt and Stafford thorwing the ball 30+ times per games. Nothing more.
Better than Ladd, Legette, and Xavier Worthy imo
Not Legette imo
A better fit, not better imo
Great addition to the #49ers. Makes a very dangerous trio they have now.
They already have a dangerous trio with Jennings, lol.
@@byronsmith3152 nah that doesn’t carry any weight, Pearsall is significant better than Jennings. 🤷🏻♂️
@@madfndad You can't say that until he actually plays in the NFL. His measurables are better for sure.
@@byronsmith3152 agree to disagree. I’ll stand on that homie.
@@madfndad Not a problem. I hope you do not think I don't like the player picked, lol. I think he will be very good in this offense. He is the perfect fit IMO. Jennings is just that trusted guy for Purdy.
Did not know he was that old. Definitely a reach by the niners, I think he'll really produce for them but really the age is concerning to me.
Who gives a fuck? Seriously. Would you rather he be younger and barely getting it by his 3rd or 4th year?
49ers got there cupp
Nailed it
Panthers, pick 39
This video makes me think the niners drafted the right guy.
Not for first rd though, way better stuf we could have gotten
Till you realize his team was 5 and 7 he never broke 1k yards rec he doest fight for yards. This dude is nothing more then sp teams that got drafted way way way to high. Especially when there were better players available.
@@stevebratti7515 watch the tape doe, the stuff u listed is pretty irrelevant
@@nadecha5326 he would've been an early 2nd round tho
i dont hate this pick but there's bigger needs to address like OL
Ricky Pearsall reminds of a young Adam Thelien
Cuz he looks like him
He will be a number 1 at San fran
🙄
Come on Ballard bring him to Indy with AR
AR didn't know how to use him at Florida. Purdy, Minshew or Stafford would really connect with Pearsall
Lions think do that’s why he’s taken at 61
McConkey is pretty good too.
Wonder why you mentioned him? Might as well throw Luke in there while you are at it….
Cooper cupp jr
Nah he is him
If only Shanny gets his cooper kupp……
niner know what theyre doinmg, they always figure it out
exactly, and even if he's a bust we'll just turn some 7th rounder into a pro bowler, so its nbd
Steeler in the 3rd
struggles against press coverage
@2:40 this is why he is drafted and why I believe Deebo is probably out the door for the 9ers
The great white hype: is he a 1st rounder and can he beat single coverage?! Not big nor fast; these are rare success stories when it comes to WR...IS THIS A REACH?!
Kyle will scheme him open... the system will have him looking fairly solid.
@@too2manyjs698 As far as WR, they needed a player that was going to reliably beat single coverage! Not a number 3 or 4 ceiling! They need a WR that can hold his own in a Ravens(LOADED NOW) or Chiefs matchup! If you feel like you do not have that, you have to get it or get beaten again!
Dude ran a 4.41 he’s got plenty of speed. He also was probably the best route runner in the draft, which is what the 9ers needed
@@PS-ub3kt don't forget... 2nd fastest 3 cone 6.64 (6.62 was fastest) ....so very quick as well
He's a really good player but it's a bit of a reach, yes.
I'm here cuz I'm seeing all the white guys that r playing skilled positions now white dudes r not the same anymore lol we even got cornerbacks and a good running back
Funny enough it's an uprising of non-white QBs, I guess nobody is the same anymore 😂😂😂😂😂
He'll be running those same slots with McCaffrey so Deebo's future is in doubt.
Most people were saying Aiyuk was on the chopping block as they did not want to pay him...They could trade him or just not pay him when his contract is up...
Would love for him to fall to the Eagles in the second round!! Fly Eagles Fly 🦅
It’s a bad pick. This guy is really good. But he’s just not a first rounder. I’m confused on the pick. He won’t crack the rotation.
You don't know nothing about football lol, he has everything the 9ers look for in a WR.
It’s the Kyle regime what u expect
@rymiguel1317 your delusional this mf isn't ever gonna see the field
@@stevebratti7515That's what ppl said about deebo and Brandon lmao
@rymiguel1317 Why you gotta make it personal? It’s just my opinion. And for the record i know a little bit about football. But this ricky guy isn’t the guy. Kyle is jealous that mcvay got puka and tried to get a similar guy but he ain’t no puka
I guess the San Francisco Forty Niner front office didn't agree with you.
Brother I said late first round😅
Did you even watch the video? He literally gave him a late first round grade... exactly where the Niners drafted him
