I began to re-discover a lot of music from when I was growing up in the 70s, a few years ago. I was 10 years old back in 1976 and loved this song, I look back now with a sense of sadness of times gone, but at the same time I so much more appreciate brilliant music like this.
I heard this song today for the first time in many years. I was 17 in 1976. I loved being a teenager in the 70's. I had the same feeling as you - reminiscing the good times and feeling a twinge of sadness. Here's to happy memories!
Please take me back to 1976, please I plead. I remember when this song came out. I was young and wild, but damn I had good taste in music. This song has kept me dancing from 1976 right up to 2019. "YOU TO ME ARE EVERYTHING" changed the discotheques of yesteryear for good. The ambience, the turntables, and the coloured disco floors were changed forever. Even the massive speakers would keep on singing this song right up to 2019 and beyond. I am an old man and I am stuck in a musical time warp. Wow a big hit at the teen parties back then with everyone on the dance floor. The song's awesome vibe transported us to heaven on earth and remains a classic.
As a child of the 60's and a teenager of the 70's, it makes me feel good to see so very many people comment how those decades were so great. I don't think it is only because we were so young then. It is also because the world was a gentler place (yes, I know, it still had some big problems all the same). The never to be repeated, wonderful music of the times was a big, big factor in this. Music then was good natured, tuneful and inclusive. With very few exceptions, today it is the opposite. Where has all the song-writing talent gone? I'd go back to being 10 years old in 1970 like a shot if it was possible. Sadly, it is not so those of my generation carry on with great memories of the happiest two decades of the past 100 years to sustain us.
I keep telling my kids that nothing good in music happened after the end of the 70s. When else could you find so many great musicians and singers with such diverse music from psychedelic/progressive rock to disco.
Well said. It was a time when great music was created all over the world and fantastic bands were formed who will be remembered long after they are gone. What a special te it was .. love, peace and beautiful music.

Ohh gosh!!! This song brings back to me the good old days of listening to the radio in the 1970's, such wonderful music. Listening to this in February 2022, still sweet until now.
Still touring in the UK - fantastic live vocals (go and see them, support the lads). Such a special song that has stood the test of time - the story of youth. Thank you Chris and Dave (and the late Ray and Eddie) 💜
In hospital a few years ago and stuck in my bed I got talking with this guy in one of the other beds in the ward, really nice chap. He told me about three venues he liked to go to for live music, and he's seen a lot of the old groups and singers still going there - including the Real Thing.
This song holds so much childhood memories for me as I was in my early days at St Marks school Fulham, aged 13 back in 1976 when this tune was flavour of the year, those days no MTV,no internet, no mobile phones or pirate radio, this was one of the few Soul tunes you'd hear on the radio or on Top Of The Pops, but we got by, sweet memories of 1976
It does make me sad that this was one of the few soul tunes you could hear on the radio or tv. So much great stuff in 1976, but I guess the radio was obsessed with the bay city rollers, glam rock and all that nonsense?

Do tell, why did they have to fight off the black american singer song writers? The biggest detriment to black British songwriters was racism in the industry and the lack of support at home. Despite this, some bands in the 80's/90's succeeded like Soul to Soul, Junior, and Loose Ends(one of my favorites).

Such a brilliant and quintessential 1970s sound. No other decade quite like it. And to think these guys are scousers but you'd think they were from Detroit. Nailed it perfectly.

A love in my younger days and even got engaged, we were to young and broke apart but I will never forget Carol (Homan) in Brighton X and she bought me this record, it always gets you on the dance floor.
this song is a song of stamina and I wonder what these guys are doing these days. Man, those were the days really listening to this music. It actually gives me Goosebumps and the pleasure of living through the 80s 90s. Cause I'm telling you, there's nothing. You To Me Are Everything - Lyrics
I would take the stars out of the sky for you
Stop the rain from falling if you asked me to
I'd do anything for you, your wish is my command
I could move a mountain when your hand is in my hand
Words cannot express how much you mean to me
There must be some other way to make you see
If it takes my heart and soul, you know I'd pay the price
Everything that I possess I'd gladly sacrifice
Oh, you to me are everything
The sweetest song that I could sing
Oh, baby, oh, baby
To you I guess I'm just a clown
Who picks you up each time you're down
Oh, baby, oh, baby
Give me just a taste of love
To build my hopes upon
You know you've got the power girl
To keep me holding on
So now you've got the best of me
Come on and take the rest of me
Oh, baby
Though you're close to me, we seem so far apart
Maybe given time you'll have a change of heart
If it takes forever, girl, then I'm prepared to wait
The day you give your love to me, won't be a day too late
Oh, you to me are everything
The sweetest song that I could sing
Oh, baby, oh, baby
To you I guess I'm just a clown
Who picks you up each time you're down
Oh, baby, oh, baby
You give me just a taste of love
To build my hopes upon
You know you've got the power girl
To keep me holding on
So now you've got the best of me
Come on and take the rest of me
Oh, baby
Oh, you to me are everything

Oh, baby (oh, baby)
Oh, baby (yes, I need you baby)
You to me are everything

Don't apologise for thy musical maturity, dear Julian !!! EVER !!!
I'm 60 and this tune has memories you can't forget with the girls. The 70s, that was a decade. Bless, REAL THING.

Absolutely loved this, had a mad crush on a girl nxt door, was 13 and in love brilliant song can't get me off dance floor when this is on
1976 what a fantastic year ...so many years ago but sometimes just feels like yesterday.
These total legends are still going strong after 50 years together (only two now sadly but still fantastic live) - yet no honours, MBEs? Why??? 😡
I sang this song to my husband at our wedding party 😁🥰 Never forgotten when all my bridemaid and myself sang the chorus for him 😄 This Song put always a smile on our face ❤️
Ohh gosh!!! This song brings back to me the good old days of listening to the radio in the 1970's, such wonderful music. Listening to this in February 2022, still sweet until now.
Just listen it on radio. It makes friday eve))
This song holds so much childhood memories for me as I was in my early days at St Marks school Fulham, aged 13 back in 1976 when this tune was flavour of the year, those days no MTV,no internet, no mobile phones or pirate radio, this was one of the few Soul tunes you'd hear on the radio or on Top Of The Pops, but we got by, sweet memories of 1976
You could get Radio Luxembourg at nights or so I'm told
That was pirate radio
IT MOST SURELY WAS, MORT.
It does make me sad that this was one of the few soul tunes you could hear on the radio or tv. So much great stuff in 1976, but I guess the radio was obsessed with the bay city rollers, glam rock and all that nonsense?
Candi staton sugar candy kisses
Yes the 70s and 80s were the best music of all time and they could sing Absolutely love it.

Everytime when I listen to this song. I always wanna get up and dance. Love this song to the bone.
Such a brilliant song! Beautiful lyrics and sung to perfection!
Loved this song as a teenager, THE REAL THING,1st no1 R,&B black band. Fighting off the usa black singer song writers.
Yeah!!! They talented people they have very2 nice voice .. Stevie wonder
IAN Collingwood Fighting off who. They didn't even write this song. Virtually any decent singer could sing it.
Real Thing Very Good British Group..!
Did Some Good Songs in 70's...! 💞🎤
A classic disco hit - you can't help but smile and get your groove on when you hear this one - love it!!!!
how great is this song!
I’m 30 years old , my mum who I love very much played this during my childhood . Why don’t they play music like this anymore !! 2021 please someone bring music out like this. Bless you all ❤️💙
I saw them at the NAAFI club at RAF Halton around 1988,they were great, much better than the surroundings lol
My favorite all time song would have to be this one..Still has the power to bring back the simplicity and freedom of the 70's!!!...Wow!!
Appreciating this classic ✨️ priceless 💎 in 2022. Who is listening along with me?

Me too. Brill.
See you in November at the soul weekend.
thanks to these guys with this lovely song I've been married 40
years we broke up but this song got us back together
Such a brilliant and quintessential 1970s sound. No other decade quite like it.
And to think these guys are scousers but you'd think they were from Detroit. Nailed it perfectly.
Wow I did not know this - great music for the dance in the day - bump, hustle and many dances🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🥂🥂🥂
So true 💯
Takes me back to Sundays when i was a kid, and my dad would play all kinds of great 70/80's music loud as shit in our garden. This song was on every weekend. Ahhh the memories.
A love in my younger days and even got engaged, we were to young and broke apart but I will never forget Carol (Homan) in Brighton X and she bought me this record, it always gets you on the dance floor.
this song is a song of stamina and I wonder what these guys are doing these days. I remember this one as I had a debilitating illness in 1976 which no one to this day can diagnose but i felt very weak and I went o Ireland to visit my cousins and this was playing. I think it helped me a great deal, thankyou The Real Thing! xxxx Noreen
+Noreen Faruga ...Although I don't know you from Adam, I truly hope this song still helps you today, because I know it still helps me some 40 years later...God Bless!
Noreen Faruga they performed at a music festival I went to last week, happy fest in imber court. They played this live and the whole crowd sung along.
Well what a great place to feel better in :)
September 2021
Saturday morning heading out for morning coffee and this song came up on radio .
Ive missed it
Once, when I was in my teens, I woke up hearing this song from the radio and I realised I just had a dream about me sitting on the head of a dinosaur as he was marching along. And we were best friends. I woke up so happy.
"You to me are everything,
The sweetest song that I could sing."
Man, those were the days really listening to this music. It actually gives me Goosebumps and the pleasure of living through the 80s 90s. Cause I'm telling you, there's nothing. There's crack music out there right now. And listening to this music. Just bring you back to those happy days. I could play this song over and over
And because anyhow being an Irish step dancer. Music dancing was always in my jeans and my family
hot summer of 76, just as fresh now, as it was then, classic song, only in the 70,s
