  • Cruising Maas on the dutch European Waterways we got an unpleasant lock surprice before we arrived in the beautiful city of Maastricht. Me? A UA-camr sailing a Comfort 32. Leaving home port i started my UA-cam sailing channel 2021. Join me and my small budget sailboat with a big passionate dream to sail away, enjoy every moment and share it with others.
I hope you appreciate my sailing channel, sailing adventure and the sailing life I share on UA-cam. If you do - please subscribe and give it a big thumbs up, that is really helpful! I'm trying to make the best sailing channel I can, not just showing beautiful places, but also tell about them and show the general boatlife!

Not familar with locks, can you run your dock lines under a cleat horn to get additional leverage?

Youcan and that's what we did un the beginning. However, in the worse locks I think you have to be very strong!

Hmm, lot of pressure from the filling water i guess. Be safe!

@@sailingtilda Hi, was thinking about your struggles with the lock and thought of the following: Put a loop in one side of the dock lines near the deck and attach a 2:1 snatch blocks to the loop and deck hardware. Least this will give you a little more mechanical leverage.

@@olivei2484 That could have been an idea. One thing that made it difficult was that the locks were so different. Sometimes we could have a loop on the dockline nad just move it to new bollards as we went, but sometimes we had to tie for everytime we hade to switch grip and we found out using the vinches we still had time to make those changes. Sometimes its a bonus to have a sailbaot at the canals!
