Learning about science through the filter of some apologetic propaganda mill, I would guess. That, and avoiding a solid scientific education as if their life depended on it.
Lack of education. Lack of critical thinking skills. Being brainwashed. Wanting to believe, so engaging Cognitive Bias and Doublethink (which, ironically, seems to be more prevalent in those with lower IQs). And, as Forold mentioned, echo chambers, so one can add to that, being too dishonest to actually listen to Atheists.
It's amazing how these people who've literally never spoken to a single atheist in their entire lives know literally everything about literally every atheist, or whatever, literally.
Yea, it's because they think all atheists are supposed to believe the exact same things, like we all worship Dawkins or something. Like there's this one atheist doctrine we're supposed to follow. Since this is how they get their beliefs they expect everyone else to do the same.
Gotta love a classic Dunning Kruger argument. This guy has quite literally no idea how the Big Bang or anything works. And I love how when he's claiming how atheists believe in the Big Bang "religiously" as if now all of a sudden religion is a bad thing
Some one should point out that it was Georges Henri Joseph Édouard Lemaître a Belgian Catholic priest, theoretical physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and professor of physics at the Catholic University of Louvain that first suggested the Big Bang and not some Atheist.
I don't think a good education would permeate his cult-like devotion to whatever his family or community convinced him it is imperative to believe in. Currently, via his comments, he is FERVENTLY fighting against anything and everything that isn't exactly what his indoctrination has instilled. Indoctrination isn't a verb...it's a noun. It's the state of needing to protect one's intellectual stance on a particular subject against any and all combatants. He's not lacking in information, he's replete with ignorance. People like this just need to make the decision that seemingly people like you and I have made.... #1. I don't know everything #2. It's impossible to know everything #3. I will try to learn as much as I can #4. I will believe/endorse ideas which are Demonstrable, Repeatable, and Consistently Applicable/Useful.
I do wish theists like this could understand that being an atheist doesn't mean they're required to explain everything that ever happened & every concept & idea in every subject. Of course they expect & demand this when the only answer they have is but god tho or because bible. 🙄
I guess just saying "I don't know," fills them with such crippling existential terror that they'd rather believe in fairy tales than admit they don't know everything.
Theists: "Every atheist needs to have a doctorate level knowledge in almost every conceivable scientific discipline or they can't justify being atheist."
He is greatly strengthened by his ignorance. If he knew more about the Big Bang, cosmology, biology, atheism, and logic, he might get tongue-tied at their constant collision with and contradiction of his religious misconceptions.
Basically, this guy remembers the 'conservation' of matter but forgot the conversion. His example of burning paper, ash and smoke are both matter; but what about the heat? That's thermal ENERGY.
Not to mention he somehow jumped back to something from nothing, when that whole tirade about matter not being created or destroyed, or it's infinite, was because the strawman said it had always existed. He literally missed his own strawman.
Release of thermal energy during a chemical reaction doesn't destroy matter. If you're going to mock his misunderstanding of physics, do better yourself. :)
Yeah it should've been conservation of energy, but that would require some basic understanding/awareness of what is widely accepted by scientific community. I don't think I've heard "conservation of matter" outside of apologetics.
I find it interesting that our legislatures here in America keep saying we need more mental health facilities and professionals, yet they keep cutting funds for mental health. And Matt is obviously the product of these failures . . . .

@@juan0808 The Big Bang wouldn't violate conservation because it's merely a description of an expansion of existing energy. It says nothing about the origin of the energy. Theistic apologists often falsely attach an origin hypothesis to it in order to try to discredit it... Typically the multiverse theory, so that they can claim that it's an infinite regress that can't exist. Of course, that one's another case of special pleading - _creation can't occur except for God, plus infinite regress can't occur except for God._
Yes, DNA is literally a language. Well, it's the chemical implementation of a language, and it has very important chemical properties, but the nucleic acids that make up its symbol set are what qualify it as a language. Anything that consists of a finite set of symbols which can be arranged in a sequence governed by a grammar is defined as a language. Such sequences are called productions of the language. This definition, you'll notice, doesn't in any way imply a designer or an agent or intelligence, or even communication. That's where the theistic question begging comes in. Productions of a language do, however, potentially encode information. And information can potentially be communicated. But again there's no requirement or implication in these things of intentionality, agency, et cetera. The point is, there's no need to die on the hill of "DNA isn't a language." Crystal structures can be described by a grammar too. No way does that lead to a proof that some god exists. And to claim that it's hard to believe that language doesn't imply a god is nothing but a fallacious Argument from Incredulity.
I feel like I could have this guy slack-jawed in 3 minutes and vehemently denying science in 6 minutes. There's no depth here whatsoever, just cherry-picking of scientific claims he thinks work for him.
He is an excellent demonstration of the adage "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing." For one thing, the letters in the genetic "code" aren't a code, they are abbreviations of the nucleotides involved. For another, it's mass-energy, not matter, that can't be created or destroyed but only transformed. And so on through a word salad that he imagines makes a coherent argument. Dunning-Kruger in operation.
I am withholding judgement on whether he is a flat Earther, until he makes that clear. There is a significant overlap between YEC and flerfers. Also, the pseudo science thinking is very much the same between the groups.
But he said matter can't be created, but he makes an exception for a magic sky wizard? Oh yeah, special pleading. BTW, if you concede a god, it really upsets them if you point out that it doesn't prove their particular version of a god.
It just baffles me how cosmically dense you have to be to look at the statement, "Matter can't be created or destroyed," and then look out at the universe and see matter everywhere, and somehow the conclusion you draw from it is, "matter must've been created... by magic!" It's like finding out that it's impossible for a human to fly by flapping their arms, and then saying, "Well, that must mean God exists, because otherwise I couldn't fly by flapping my arms!" 🤦
Yeah, I ask for evidence for their particular god over all the others considering the literature written about it and they either say that the literature is false or "What literature? There's only the Bible!" I mean I can't name the literature off the top of my head but honestly, if they were being a critical thinker, they should have looked into as much of the alternative literature as possible before claiming it's all false and only their is true.
He keeps claiming our response would be "well I still don't believe in God" as if he'd actually presented anything that would make us reconsider it. Also, DNA is not literally a language.
With knowledge comes the realization that there's no such thing as immorality (of a soullike something). Yet I can imagine that the idea of life after death is comforting for many people. And for unscrupulous opportunists immortality is... an opportunity. So his protest is... understandable.

At this point its like watching someone headbutt a coat hook. Im impressed that they are so dedicated to their strawmen but it shows that they havent bothered to even try and look up what the science says.
He's telling on himself by assuming the big bang is a random idea that people just decided to "believe in". In reality, nobody DESIRED to believe in the big bang, they simply followed the evidence and that's what they found. But since his own beliefs aren't the conclusion of a chain of evidence and reasoning, he can't fathom how science works.

Matter can be created and destroyed by interactions with other fields. There is quantum vacuum, there are virtual particles. Why are they keep saying that outdated claims? Well, it dependson what exactly is considered to be matter. E/M rediation, vacuum, scalar inflaton field are usually not considered matter. It would be more correct to say that energy cannot be created and destroyed, but that's working only when the Lagrangian is uniform in time, it has no explicit time dependence, which is not necessarily the case on the time span of the Universe.

It is ENERGY not matter that can't be created or destroyed. And since it can't be destroyed, you don't need an infinite amount of it IF the universe has always existed.
Indeed they are linked fundamentally, but they are not the same thing per se. If you render matter back into a pure energy state, you would have effectively destroyed the matter state. It may end up being a bit semantical in the end, but there is still a difference, no matter (pun intended) how subtle.
@@Shoomer1988wrong. By destroying matter you release the energy it consisted of. The second law of thermodynamics states that energy can't be destroyed. It will simply change forms

16:14 "flaming believers"? Is he saying that biologists should all be flamboyantly homosexual? Lol. Maybe he meant fervent.
A curios data, From observations the total energy of the universe seem to be zero, so the big bang doesn't necessarily breaks conservation of energy.
Lol, I'm sure it's a thought that keeps him up at night nyahahaa
I'd say this video proves thoroughly that he does not, in fact, think.

Exactly.
And it really only applies to a closed system. It is not clear whether the universe before the Big Bang was a closed system or not.
Every sentence he attempted was wrong or a pathological lie.

BTW, if you concede a god, it really upsets them if you point out that it doesn't prove their particular version of a god.
It just baffles me how cosmically dense you have to be to look at the statement, "Matter can't be created or destroyed," and then look out at the universe and see matter everywhere, and somehow the conclusion you draw from it is, "matter must've been created... by magic!"
It's like finding out that it's impossible for a human to fly by flapping their arms, and then saying, "Well, that must mean God exists, because otherwise I couldn't fly by flapping my arms!"

Attempts to use the first law of thermodynamics; does not understand the first law of thermodynamics.
Pretty much every creationist doesn't
"Is cake a code?"
If only. Cake that produces more cake... a dream that mankind has pursued since the beginning of time, that and making nuggets of the purest Green.
"Something can't come from nothing"
Show me nothing please? Without directly observing nothing I can't say what nothing can't do.
Funny how they have so much trouble accepting infinity when it comes the the universe and the makings of yet, they're perfectly happy to believe in a useless w***er of a magical sky daddy who's 'ALWAYS' been somehow. They just sort of pass the buck along and sort of distance themselves by one more level THEN infinity's fine with them🙄.
A great example of a person that is “not even wrong”…
And of course they think their invisible sky wizard poof the whole universe into existence using an incantation spell🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
One of the reasons why I'm an Atheist is... I DO NOT ACCEPT THAT :-
Someone moving their diaphragm in their stomach, to exhale air from their lungs, up through their wind pipe, through their vocal chords (that are moving in various ways to produce various tones), which the exhaled air then comes out of the mouth (via the subsequent movement of the tongue, cheeks and lips) to form words, that will then :-
- SAVE YOU while you are sat or laying in some precarious situation after a heart attack, stroke, allergic reaction (or other illness), car accident, trip, fall or whatever, somewhere where NO ONE ELSE is around you, that those words uttered into the air and your surroundings WILL SOMEHOW save your life, by MAGICALLY summoning an Ambulance/Paramedic, OR, somehow 'Call upon a stranger' nearby that will MIRACULOUSLY stumble upon your location or other 'Miracle'. 😒
NOR DO I ACCEPT that performing the SAME breathing/wording technique will :-
- Save your friend, beloved, family members, strangers (whoever) from dying whilst laid in a Hospital bed if they are (again) suffering from a life threatening illness, coma, Cancer, Heart Attack, Stroke, accident or other debilitating disease, AND/OR, because THAT PERSON (and their family, possibly including you) REFUSE (due to their/your beliefs) to accept ANY scientifically PROVEN medical intervention (by way of medication and/or other treatment) because doing so would GO AGAINST the Theistic believe you/they hold,

"I cast magic missile at the darkness!"
Just found your content, and really enjoy it! I am bingeing now!
Appreciate it, Sue
It is ENERGY not matter that can't be created or destroyed.
And since it can't be destroyed, you don't need an infinite amount of it IF the universe has always existed.
Him saying "matter" was driving me nuts!
You can't destroy matter without destroying energy. E = mc²
@@FoxyRaccoon84 I would consider that a conversion rather than destruction - can always be turned back.
Slam a "pure" energy such photons hard enough at each other and massive particles such as electrons and positrons pop into existence. The mass was there all along.
But as you say, it's semantics.

Too bad he needs deep thought..to successfully change a light bulb

Proof that the air is thinner at the top of Mount Dunning-Kruger.
6:12 I thought most the scientists' consensus was that it was no matter, but energy, and matter can be created from energy and vice versa. Because you could not condense all the universe's matter into one singularity, bit you could do that with energy.
Why do these people always think it should be my problem that they don’t understand the Big Bang? I’m no theoretical physicist and there are a lot of aspects about the Big Bang that I don’t fully grasp. THAT is my problem. I don’t have time to try to make them understand it as well.
Nothing created everything. No thing created everything. Everything always existed. Truer words never spoken.
Theist: waffling about the first law of thermodynamics and the law of conservation
Also theist: ignores his own words about matter being infinite to suggest his particular god created it.
Bailed out early, can't deal with that level of stupid
Lisa, the rainbow giraffe is your best argument! She reminds me of Hitchens' claim that you can't move from deism to theism without producing evidence other than eyewitness acounts and/or hearsay.. All that's left is opinion. Cheers!
The amount of time pondering this argument before pooping it from his mouth = 1.4 seconds
Bro's literally arguing for determinism, which is polar opposite to free will.
Funnily enough there isn't free will in the Bible
I didn't think I could be more flabbergasted at Matt. Thankfully I didn't place a bet on it with anyone because holy crap. A bag of rocks would make more sense.
that creationist confidence, just upload a video on the big bang without bothering to even read the wiki on it
