Excellent driving skills would be after lowering gear… he should move like 5 km/h or even slower (I’m not sure about top speed at the lowest gear in trucks with ~16 gears but it should be really slow)
@@luiseduardovaldivia3510 thats why you have know how to drive a truck with too much weight, especially the weight in those type of trailers, to go down in a slope you have to chose a gear where the engine brake holds you without using the air brakes too much, if you feel that you are using the air brakes too much, you hit the brake pedal until the rpm’s go about 1000 to 1100 change to a two lower gears, sometimes when you do that, if you don’t stop the truck enough to make that change of gear you can miss the gear an the truck will neutralize and because you are in a slope the truck will be accelerating, so, what you have to do when that happens is hit the whole brake pedal, try to stop the truck as much a you can and try to put a gear in the engine and use the engine brake Now of course, always take your distance from the vehicle in front of you, if you see the stop lights of the vehicle and it looks like is going to be a complete stop, take your distance and time to stop the truck

This man just proves everything every trucker ive met ever told me. “If its me or a school bus then its gonna be me.” Good driving and a good man saved a lot of lives.
Stellar? Really in a semi you down shift before you break. Also you have 3 break systems you have a service break an air break and an engine break then if and when all 3 of the breaks do fail after having slowed down significantly by down shifting you put it in reverse and gently tap tap tap the gass if you are at full speed and still on a run away you have already messed up your first 4 methods to stop in time. That said this guy may be able to steer well and was lucky enough to have a large opening and no kid walking around the front of the bus however you can see that from his level of panic he was not clear headed this is why truck schools with obstacle tracks exist. Even though many drivers are still buddy tought and may know enough to pass the driving exam but not enought to truly know the basics by any means. It's very unfortunate that this driver was able to get in to this position in the first place when a proper DoT required pre-trip inspection would have found and identified the unserviceable nature of his rig and prevented this in the first place.
@@kaedenwheeler6967I read it and do care. He's being more logical than the guy who complimented the drivers skills when he could've done differently to avoid this

The bus driver instead of telling the kid to hurry and get off the bus should have told him or her to hurry and get back on the bus so she could try to move out of the way as fast as she possibly could.
That wasn't the bus driver talking to a student, that was a bus monitor talking to the driver. It's a good thing the driver didn't pull forward and narrow that gap between them and the truck in the oncoming lane, or there would have been a collision.

A trucker once told me that another trucker was in a similar situation with another school bus. Unfortunately the trucker had only one chose, to ditch his truck and rolled over, giving his life to save the kids. Unsung heroes are all around but are never acknowledged.

@@luiseduardovaldivia3510 thats why you have know how to drive a truck with too much weight, especially the weight in those type of trailers, to go down in a slope you have to chose a gear where the engine brake holds you without using the air brakes too much, if you feel that you are using the air brakes too much, you hit the brake pedal until the rpm’s go about 1000 to 1100 change to a two lower gears, sometimes when you do that, if you don’t stop the truck enough to make that change of gear you can miss the gear an the truck will neutralize and because you are in a slope the truck will be accelerating, so, what you have to do when that happens is hit the whole brake pedal, try to stop the truck as much a you can and try to put a gear in the engine and use the engine brake
