look at your settings on the HD as the DT will slave to it via Line 6 link. set to live, combo or stack front. trial and error mate as things can sound wildly different, also look at line 6 HD Edit to set you HD up whilst connected to the DT amp for on the fly setting changes. Have a look at all of the videos in this range 1,2 and 3 to see how we set the DT and HD up. hope you get it sorted man.
No worries, I bought one today and am it. I'm looking forward to setting up V2.0, I just wish Line 6 added the USB-> midi cable in with it! Keep up the good work
thanks for the pointers...I"ve got a DT25 head coming but did not order the cab yet...gonna try it with my Mini Epiphone cab (1X12, 16ohm) and see how that flies, then I"ll plug it into my Ho-made 212 open back cab with Cel. Vint 30's...wondering if it'll be too bright with that open back....
Hi ! I recently bought the dream rig... pod hd 500x + DT50 combo amp. When I use the preamps only with the amp, every of these preamps lack of distorsion and OD on the gain knob compare to those total amp simulation. Can someone help me please ? Thanks.
Paul's right. Use No cab. Preamp. It sounds so much better. It takes awhile to figure it all out. Watch videos etc. like his otherwise u won't know how to make it sound as good as it's capable of sounding. I love my dt 25 head and can. It takes Pedals great and sometimes I used the HD 300 as I said took a while to learn lots of tweaking but as a stand-alone amp it's great.
It's really kind of intuitive if you think about it. A POD of any kind, be it a bean or a floor model or a rack model, is designed for direct recording without an amp. Therefore, it is voiced to sound it's best through full range speakers,,,ie studio monitors. Now think about a guitar cab. Compare it in your mind to a full range stereo/studio speaker. They are NOT the same...at all. Hence, it is no surprise at all that a POD plugged into the front of an amp will not sound good. At least not with factory presets. At a minimum, you have to take the cabinet simulation out of the equation. Basically, what it all comes down to is this...people who aren't getting good tones out of a POD are doing it wrong. At least on some level.

Hi Paul got the dt25 and hd 500x thought it was going ok until I saw the vid when you said about using the pre versions on the amp models and not using speaker sims etc now I'm back to square one. I've copied the patches I created in another set list but with pre amp versions, should I go no cab ? Also as far as setting the hd 500x to the right output I thought it would automatically detect the dt25 via the line6 link,,,,confused . Com cheers
Paul Glover Yeah Ive got the combo version and Im finding that some of the clean sounds are too thin so they sound bigger with the cab sim on but on the overdriven sounds it can be too much
Paul, you have reviewed two lunchbox amps, the Dt25 and Grandmesiter 36 with the on board effects. I currently use a Line 6 HD147 but is heavy as fuck to carry around and want to get the Line 6 or HK. Which of the two that you have reviewed is overall better for effects, distortion and carrying weight? :)

Sometimes when im lazy, ill just use a POD and run direct at my shows, but since I got this I cant wait too use it. I also got the 1X12 speaker, so I need settings for my Direct setup, Dt with the Orange, and DT with the 1X12...LOL I got a lot of work to do but its worth it. I wonder how 2 1X12 would be?....Hmmmmm?? Your thoughts?
The 1x12 sounds great mate but if you wanna keep your sound simular to the orange you may need another preset for that cab with emulation on. Well done man its a killer rig.
paul do you do in person guitar lessons i talked with you at the liverpool gig and you said you do skype lessons but im not sure if skype lessons are the way to go plus i dont have a webcam
dude!!!! can you advise me on how to update the firmware on this badboy?? I bought the DT25 and plugged your channel as being the reason for my choice purchase to line 6. I cannot update it all. Sooooo it messes up all the time when using the HD500x with it....Annoying - any ideas mate - great vids and I value your reviews in a retisomat kind of way!
Mate i hooked up midi, downloaded line 6 edit and it recognised the firmware asked if I wanted to update so o did. For me though I thought the uodate sounded different so I re set back to factory. Another thing is I think it's temperamental about which midi cable you use? M audio does one and I know that works. Hope that helps mate.

If you have a cab I would turn of the cabs, but as stated on the line 6 page if you like the sound just do it. Might save.on resources though?

I'd go with the Dt25 and hd500x man. Ine cable to yhe amp and away you go. Plus you can run any cab you want so 1x12 would be great.
