NZ IS IN CRISIS.
Many other OECD countries run much higher tax revenue / GDP ratios than NZ. The other OECD countries also have capital gains tax, gift tax and inheritance tax. NZ has high personal tax rates because we dont have CGT+. (Chloe, no wealth tax. They don't work)
The neoliberal policies being run by this coalition and successive government is driving NZ into the ground economically, socially and environmentally as they try and run NZ on the smell of an oily rag to keep personal taxes down while running unsustainable net inbound immigration rates driving demand for infrastructure that we cannot build fast enough or afford.
Successive governments have had no plan for productivity. NZs R&D spend is well below the OECD average.
100,000 households in energy poverty with possible $15/month rise coming
480,000 foodbank customers per month
25,000+ social houses short & only 1,500 to be built this year
Highest rent/income ratios in the OECD
House/income ratios at about 7 when they should be 3 to 4
100,000 homeless
Health system waiting lists so long people are dropped from the list
Ferries falling apart
$120 billion backlog in infrastructure because successive govenments have chosen to run unsustainably high net inbound immigration
Polluted waterways and rivers from excessive dairy farm conversions
Local govts raising rates by 10%+ because they arent forced to do cost/benefit assessment on all spending and prefer vanity projects over asset replacements, plus central govt is heavily subsidised by not paying rates on most crown land
Some of the highest incarceration rates per capita in the world
Meanwhile landlords get $3bn in tax cuts & the poor and unemployed nothing from the budget.

Yeeeep 100% correct
The rich and wealthy are smiling all the way to the bank. And their children too once the old folks die off and they are given millions in untaxed inheritance..
And sure people will claim that money was already taxed once why should it be taxed again as inheritance... Because the majority of that wealth was never taxed in the first place because it was made from property without paying a cent in capital gains tax.
Wake up NZ politicians. Let's make a change and make a difference for the good and that means taxing the rich so they pay their fair share..
