Cheers from the lovely frenchman ! It was a nice battle, and yes your move was legitimate.
Never did multi player, but in the days of GT1 and 3, my buddy and I would take turns driving on endurance races. One would drive, while the other would "pit crew" and watch gas and tires so the driver could just drive. And maybe give out some reminders of upcoming turns. Of course, that was in our late teens/early 20s, so pit crew would also sample any herbal remedies... Miss these days for sure!
the dutchman on the video might still be doing the tactic based on his username lol
@@CuoreSportivohe’s a Dutchman, herbal remedies are more like breakfast, lunch and dinner
With a souped up Skyline, it wasn't even close. I'd be miles ahead of all the other cars.
2:54 "and that is something we're NOT used to in F1: a Dutchman being overtaken around the outside quite effortlessly... by Alex Albon"
"by Alex Albon"
cracked me up instantly
As a South American, Gran Turismo online multiplayer was never really a thing until PSN was a thing. And unfortunately I didn't have many people to share the enthusiasm of racing around me, so I was always a single player guy. Still remains like that, mostly.
well, max was indeed overtook from the outside, though by a spaniard
I've always wondered if Steve was cognizant of the striking similarities
Same for me. And when I did do a few races I was done very quickly when I got demolished from the back, and then I got then penalty. No thanks lol
7:10 "I do apologise, I'm commenting on this quite late in the day and so my mental faculties aren't at 100%." You and me Alex, you and me.
Alex? His name is Steve
@@eepy04 No? He's Alex Albon
@@juanin200I'm not Alex Albon. My name is Nick.
I used to do split-screen races with my uncle in Gran Turismo 3, it was the second game he gave me for PS2 in 2001. We'd always do either Super Speedway or Test Track because he only knew how to turn left, but with boost assist on, it actually made for some fun times and close races.
"he only knew how to turn left"
I think your uncle missed his destiny as a nascar driver
@@Baguenaudeur I feel bad for him
@@BaguenaudeurLMAO😂 Thats so good… so good😂😂😂
I honestly would've been bored 🤣
the mx-5 touring car is criminally underrated.
I love that thing to bits! One of the most enjoyable cars in the game.
Not if you watch the Mazda MX5 Cup at IMSA races.
Fully tuned with NOZ it is actually the fastest car on GT7 😂
Its the most overrated car ever made.
@_SpamMe YES, this is why I love that they have this race this week, because of the MX5 cup.

Hello unoriginal, comment here
BenRod deserved that, in fact, i'll go as far as saying that he deserved to have a meet with Barry R to have a talk
Crazy to see this video and having done a few races with BenRod myself today as well.
I think BenRod was playing with the handheld controller
Hello Steve! My friend group and I still do LAN parties to this day on Gran Turismo.
We play GT4 on PS2s to this day. We have racing rigs, team colors & gear. Since GT4 was the last GT with LAN, we decided to stay on GT4 to keep the tradition going. My friend group and I get together quarterly for race night and we've been doing this for the past 26 years. We've got a structured league/season format & a love for racing.
We do play other racing games but nothing can possibly outlast GT4. LAN in GT7 would be life-changing for us all!
GT5 has working LAN with mods if you're willing to set up HEN on some PS3s :')
I am immensely envious, I just recently got PS2 and GT4 and would love some proper racing in it, the Ai are decent but you gotta gimp your car to give them a chance. Id love to race another person
@@daniellee4003 I dont know what that (HEN) is but I'll look into
I remember a 1v1 against my brother on a one lap race on Laguna Seca, I won overtaking on the main straight to the finish line, pretty close indeed.
just don't pay attention to the fact I was driving the formula car and he was driving the GT500 Nismo GT-R...
It's not about the car. It's about the driver
Steves humor explaining people heading off track destroys me 😂😂😂 "and continues turning right despite the track straightening out" lmfao
We had a race series in gt5 and played in teams of 4 drivers. So it was 4v4 when 2 teams played each other and we had F1 style point awarded, one team picked the track, the other picked the car, and the first team who picked the track also chose the PP limit of the car and they had full tuning so we would study the tuning for the week leading up to the race.
I remember my team making the grand final at Grand Valley in the MX5 😂 we won the championship and i recorded it with a handycam next to my setup, it's an old video on this channel and it didn't age the best but brings back great memories.
Gran Turismo 5 multiplayer on the PS3 brings back memories. Good OST too.
Imagine if polyphony made the effort to have a team of employees dedicated to setting up and balancing 'random' cars around tracks like this, once a week/month.
The Dutchman in the lead in the first race is called "420blazeit" but in Dutch lol
15:36 I like Chris casually popping headlights.
Not randomly though. He was putting them up when he hit the brakes - as a mini airbrake presumably
Hahaha. Just commented same. What a hard worker he is.
It often happens when using a controller. The left stick accidentally gets pushed in while steering triggering the headlight flashing.
That last corner is the most important corner of the entire track! So much time to be gained there!
Gran Turismo 4’s online servers were remade a couple years ago and I’ve done quite a lot of racing on it. It definitely has a heavy nostalgic feel to it even though online in particular was not something I experienced ‘back in my day 👴🏼’
What I miss the most from early Gran Turismo online racing is the open car selection and tuning. The races were regulated only by PP and weight and sometimes drivetrain. You could have a tuned up ZO6 Corvette racing with GT3 cars. People could run different compound tires too. I really enjoyed those days because you could make really oddball cars compete and it was funny to see.
Yup
Barely any opportunities to race 'your' car only in gran turismo, unless its changed since i last played.
Benrod is usually super clean, I race with him all the time in daily race A
Yeah agree!
Ah, but Ben loves a good celebrity mention… 🎉🎉🎉
Yeah, raced him today a few times. He is usually very clean.
I've seen videos of Ben driving dirty with Kie and now this, but other than that he's been clean when I've raced him.
You're exemplary commentary which is delivered in such a cool and calmly controlled manner never fail to make me smirk. Introducing Ben Rod to everyone's friend 'the grass' lmao. Keep up the great content Steve.
80kg of ballast moved to the front helps with extreme oversteer.
Great video ! That s my first time trying the Sport mode in GT7 and definitely a lot of fun (and sometime frustation). I think you forgot to share your car setup in the description. I m really interested to compare with my (potentially crapy) settings. Cheers
“It’s just a race in a game. Life moves on” 😂
Me and my brothers used to play split screen in GT2 with my mom, she loved rally racing with the Impreza Rally Car… she pasted away 3 years ago, good memories.
great little race. thx. Where’s the setup curious to try your setup. be interesting
Enjoyed the video, Alex. Good luck in Suzuka!
Tsukuba is one of my favorite tracks on iRacing for the MX-5 cup. It’s such a fun combo
Closest me and my mates got to multiplayer was doing the endurance races in shifts lol
Just started playing this game, mostly from watching your UA-cam video’s! Just got my first bronze time in a time trial!
You’re awesome, greetings from Belgium!
I had a really fun race of Daily A today too... though I was running a stock set-up so I'll have to have a play around with that! :) Awesome video and racing Steve :)
split screen multiplayer in gt4 was amazing with a friend. We had an honour system, if someone spun out or fell behind we'd wait, depending on the size of the error. The only acceptable victory was in a close race, nose to tail, with defensive driving and bold overtaking tactics being the name of the game. Nothing can beat the autum ring with 276bhp class Japanese cars.
Ooo definitely going to be giving this a go tomorrow in VR. Open cockpit plus 5 speed Mazda Miata = my teens.
Amazing racing in the first race
That pass on the outside was beautiful and even more beautiful live 👌
This is the cleanest race on this daily I have seen. I am a beginner therefore I am in the lower ranks and there is a lot more carnage. Love ur videos keep it up!
They need to have more Mazda races (coming from a fan of the MX5 Cup).
The Dutchie's name in the first race roughly translates to "TorchIt420"
3:25 i think u do a good job of analyzing crashes but also showing what its like when it all goes well :d
"DeFikErin420" ("BlazeItUp420") with the Rizla+ livery lol. That man is not stressed whilst racing.
Oh I remember playing Gran Turismo with 3 of my friends, on a LAN party. It was GT3 or 4, each one of them carrying a TV and the PS2. What a time!
Thanks Super GT - that set up tweak made it much more drivable.
I was trying to help my 11 year old daughter go to sleep. She was upset about a fight with her mom. She kept tossing and turning, punching her pillow, until I remembered how soothing she finds your narration. She is sound asleep now as I type. Thank you!
Gold exhaust tips....veby veby nice
love the vid again! (the minutes i've seen so far)
I recently started GT5 for the first time - been racing MX-5s and GT86s around Tsukuba. Definitely Gran Turismo vibes!
Its like the first 1 hr endurance of human comedy.
The first win i have seen from Steve.. what a day this is
Good luck on the race today ❤
Watched the livestream. Never has a driver been more deserving of a punting than in the second race, ( I haven't watched that far yet, but I'm guessing it's the Scott Chegg race).
Played GT4 online once or twice with the gaming group from a newspaper. It was a little laggy back then, whereas GT7 is mostly buttery smooth online now, but it was a good laugh.
Good luck at the weekend.
Did a shifter kart race around this circuit recently in a lobby.
Surprisingly clean race, close and great fun.
Hello, When I Think Of Classic Gran Turismo I Think Of Something Like This, Viewers here. Nice win. That track looks fun, the first sector is like a flat, miniature S1 of Zandvoort.
I do love small tracks that don't exceed 100mph and have latimes around a minute
We used to play project Gotham racing 2 on Xbox. Online cat and mouse races with 4 teams of 2 around Nürburgring were absolutely epic.
I actually had the auxillary network adapter that screwed into the back of a PS2 and played GT4 online. I even got to participate in one of the Nissan driving academy time trials with it.
Yep it was only on the non European copies though, it had 1080i & 480p support too, dunno tourist trophy.
My dad taught me to race in GT3 for the PS2 when I was like 8 or 9? We once went to a restaurant where they had a kids area with GT set up on their TV, someone said "we're taking turns, but if you win you get to keep playing" needless to say I was there all night ;)
As an F1 fan i agree that thé dutch domination is painfull
Used to play Gran Turismo 2 with my cousins, on the CD 1. They had all cars on one save because of game shark, we used to have great time playing. looks like so long gone now.
The chaotic narration of late night Super GT is pure gold
Race 2 is definitely quintessential Gran Turismo
YEEES!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR TSUKUBA!
Congrats on your P1!!!!
One of my favourite gran turismo multiplayer experiences (although not my absolute favourite) was going over to a friend's house to play gt3, he was using a wheel and he handed me a controller and I wiped the floor with him handily despite his claims of being better because of the wheel
He didn't like that, so he gave me the wheel (a crap cheap unit) knowing that I had zero experience with one, and he took the controller, and started a new race
It took me 3 laps to go from multiple 10's of seconds down to being right on his tail and in contention for first, I still lost, but the race ended up still being an embarrassing moment for that friend because he had all the advantages and was shit talking the whole way round, right up until he found himself having to desperately defend against me 😂
That wheel was awful, it snapped back to dead centre, had less than 180 degrees of rotation, and was gritty feeling and rattly, and that friend didn't keep it long given how crap it was
flashbacks to the Roadster 4-Hour Endurance on gt5
2:16 the teeth whistle 😂😂😂
Viewers don't realize this is peak super gt
Cool to hear about your Dad! Thanks for sharing.
It was an honor to be in the same lobby as you in the Americas
This is my favorite track ever !
Haha that Playstation-themed #16 car at the beginning is my original design! Love it.
Perfect Race
Lmao the Fernando pun made me giggle, and I'm spanish
Finishing the day with some old good fashion super bloody gt
Was just doing a lil grinding and did Sardegna WTC800 in my new best of 24:43.788 . B4 any1 ask no I don't keep a log of every race time just this the first time under 25m for this 1 . Got me thinking what are other people's best times for the various offline races are ( aside from the timed races ) .
rarely, but sometimes Super GT scratches that itch called revenge and it feels so good
GET IN THERE LEWIS! MIRACLES DO HAPPEN MATE!
GT5 was the first online multiplayer gt game (GT4 online beta does not count). Presume the multiplayer in the old days were split screen battles between friends and roommates. Gerat video as always
This is only my first gt game, but I do find multilplayer very fun
first GT game for me as well, but multiplayer racing scares me 🤣
Raced on this one. Started 4th, finished 7th, scored fastest lap. Made me really really happy. Truly fun indeed.
I love the MX-5 touring car. It’s small and so much fun to drive
Me and my brother raced split screen. Most fun I've ever had.
They should have more races like this in the daily race A slot for those of us who are less consistent when racing closely with others. I feel so bad racing in DR B and having pace but losing my nerves in close quarters at high speed in Gr. 3 and ruining both my race and someone else’s. This race is a perfect low stakes training ground for racing closely and staying calm.
With classic Gran Turismo, I always think about the Miata having 30 different variations in the shop
tsukuba wasnt featured in gt until gt4 and the mazda roadster touring car appeared first in gt5 as a dlc and 6 for just in game credits... dunno why thats suppose to be "classic gt"
My first memories of playing video games includes GT1 and Crash team racing on the PS1. We use to have these 2 controllers with little wheel nobs on them and a trigger on the bottom for the gas. We lost the memory cards really early on while having the system. So we only ever had the starting cars and tracks. But me being 4 years old didn’t care. I just liked driving fast cars on a race track. 🤣. (I actually don’t remember how old I was but it definitely was before Kindergarten.) With CTR we would leave the console on while we were away so we could come back and continue later.
Kinda fun with the golf style commentary 😅
1rst race you slowing caused a brake check for the Dutch driver forcing him to spin
Such a fun car. I have a group that run the mx-5 roadster every Tuesday night! Its a blast. Were always looking for more, any skill welcome! Hit me uppppp
Such a blast haha
Do you need to be able to be there every week?
@@danielmiller6255nope, each week is its own standalone event. Show up when you want
The Grass, The Friend
Hey I think you did some real life multiplayer some months ago in a Mazda MX5 at Silverstone as well
No Nudity
No Drugs
No Excessive Luxury
100% Super GT
You're not the only one who came here looking for the NLS win and epic send at the end video
Hello Super GT, viewer here again. Loving the streams, keep them up!
This my favorite track and car to race honestly hate the fact the hour long race can only b done once
This is a great race, but could those tires have less grip? Good for car control!
Today we are learning the basics of CQC
As an American myself. Can confirm no one on these servers knows how to drive. It’s even like that in real life
One of my favourite dailies.
My dad, sister and I would play Grand Turismo 3 on PS2 all the time- I remember taking the classic beetle on 2-3 lap races around the nordshleife! We called it “the pig track”
Great memories!
