Whenever I see you've put up an episode I wait to watch it until I can sit with my knitting and coffee and snack and enjoy the whole thing. Your hat is awesome! So cute on you, stylish, beautifully made. So glad you've enjoyed your Chinese TV episodes, it's such a warm cozy feeling to know the places you see there and relive the sweet memories of it. Have a fun summer, maybe take some breaks from your hard work so you can enjoy summer while it lasts. Take care and thank you for all you do for your viewers.

Thank you 🥰! I actually just booked my trip back to China for late August this year. I will spend 3 weeks with my family and visit the yarn & fabric stores there. Can’t wait to explore my hometown again with my new perspective as a knitter!

This hat is *SO* cute, I think I'll learn crochet just to try and make a similar one. I'm just a knitter for the moment, I've been waiting for THE thing that would make me pass to the crochet side, and this might be it. It's just... too cute.

I’m happy to hear that! I often gravitate towards knitting more, but for these small accessories crochet does have its merits!

Great podcast Athena ! You are very talented.. I really like your designs and your knitting and enjoy the introductions you provide to japanese knitting patterns .. I wish Keito Dama was more accessible but I am very grateful for Pomadour24 enabling knitters from overseas being able to access japanese craft books .. I am looking forward to your next episode.. many thanks

Thank you! I Hope by doing more of this videos, more people would be interested in Keitodama such that an English publisher would be interested in translating it eventually!

I love seeing the different crafting resources you have from different countries/cultures. I think once I become more advanced in knitting I want to start collecting patterns or magazines from countries where I like their style / interested in their language.
I also really appreciate you showing your trial and error process and talking about what you're trying out in order to figure things out.
Thank you for continuing to make content for your English viewers! You have such a unique perspective :)

Athena, I loved hearing about your thinking process and the design changes you made on the tank top. I am passed the age for wearing tank tops, but I think it is beautiful. Also your English is excellent so do not worry about that. If I may make a suggestion, instead of the word "handle", the word "loop" might be a better word for your hat loops that hold the ribbon in place.. 🙂 You are so talented and I'm grateful that you share your crafts here.

I loved this episode! I saved this for today (Monday morning), because I knew it would be a great way to start my week! I loved all of your projects. And seeing the different knitting books and magazines was so fun! Thank you for another amazing episode!

I use left over fabric for all sorts of things depending on the fiber; underwear, patches to repair other garments (think of Sashiko), patchwork clothing (quilted look), interior pockets on another garment, interfacing (makes areas stiffer to provide structure to the garment), I make bias tape to use to finish raw edges, scrunchies...

I saved them too! One day I’ll find an appropriate use for them!

I always enjoy your enthusiasm. As you get more into sewing, you may want to check out the Closet Historian, who does a lot of pattern drafting, especially moving darts around or converting a basic pattern block to match an illustration.

Hi Athena! I wonder if for your fabric scraps 26:32 some could be made into clothes for the animals you made? I’m not a sewist though 😂 And a name for the tank could be the Tendrils Tank- tendrils are the part of some climbing plants that twine around branches or strings (like when you grow peas in the garden)

That’s a good idea! I’ve seen Japanese pattern books for sewing little clothes for dolls! Thanks for the naming suggestion. I think I’ll stick to Vine Tank Top/ Vine Top/ Vine Camisole to indicate that it’s in the same series as my Vine Tee, but I’m not sure which one would make the pattern more popular.🤔

Hi Athena, thank you for another interesting and informative podcast. You look so elegant in your hat! I love your ingenuity making the loops for the ribbon to go through so it can be tied in a bow at the back or tied behind your ears so you don't lose your hat. What a great idea. Your skirt is so lovely. I used to put pockets into the side seams of my skirts when I used to sew. They are so easy to do. Every skirt and pair of pants should have pockets, in my opinion. Your "Vine Top" is beautiful. Could it be worn as a vest? The "Jules Genser" is so close to being finished. Looking forward to seeing you wear it when the weather cools down. With appreciation, Sarah

Thank you! The first vine top could be worn as a vest on top of a shirt but I didn’t like the style. I did the modification to graft with the new version and I’m very happy with my new design now! I finished my Jules Genser a couple minutes ago.🥳 Two FOs in a week!

@@SeedlingStitch Wow two FO's in one week. Looking forward to seeing the finished "Jules Genser"! I'm curious to see how it fits on the body. So glad it worked to graft your "Vine Top" and most of all that you're happy with it.

I just found your podcast recently and have been really enjoying watching your videos! The books that you showed are so beautiful! I have taken a look at the etsy shop even though I won't be able to read them. 😅Your Vine Tank is also so nice! Excited about your design.

Please write pattern for hat. It is wonderful. I'm a beginner knitter and advanced crocheter. So I would luv to make it. I think crochet is best for rounds. The knitting round with dpn or magic loop is not easy. U can read Japanese? Great info. Thanks for sharing.

    • @SeedlingStitch
      @SeedlingStitch  Рік тому

Thank you! I’m not advanced enough to write a crochet pattern, but hopefully my description in the video could help you figure it out! I’ve learned Japanese for a few years and can read basic text with the help of a dictionary, so I can use Japanese patterns. And many Japanese patterns have Chinese translations so I can read directly.

I didn’t feel the hat is original enough to add to my book, but can add it on the list of self published patterns!
