  • Here's a tube pattern that I have used over the years. It's been influenced mostly by Finnish pike fly tiers and has many similar aspects to salmon tube flies. The keeling weight system used on this is a new thing to me and has been stolen from Gunnar Brammer. Thank you Gunnar! Tubes tied this way will always keel, sink and swim straight and have nice gliding action to them. The profile stays pretty much 99% intact in the drink and is an enticing meal to a fish.
Materials needed to make this fly:
Size L or M tube and some loose and thin walled silicone tube.
What ever thread you want to use. I usually use 8/0 Veevus on stuff like this.
    Bucktail
    Yak hair
Slinky fiber or something similar that's almost as stiff as the yak hair. H2O or Fishient group has the best stuff.
Flash. Hedron SW flash, magnum flash and normal flashabou
    Squimpish hair
    Big eyes
Pattex 100% resin for the head.
