Why can't the tires be placed independently and not connected in cars like how it is in Bullock carts? Then the differential is not required, right? Pls clarify

Sir you forgot to explain the main use of Differential unit. Its contain sun gear and star gear inside the differential which transfer the power rotary in to linear motion.
differential delivers power to the drive wheels. In a typical configuration you have a motor to gearbox, output shaft to driveshaft, driveshaft to differential, differential shafts to drive wheels. ... Simply, the main purpose of differential is for power transmission.
