It still amuses me that a regular human can run faster than an Astartes or even an Aeldari by the simple expedient of getting yelled at.
Fear is a hell of a drug
It's all about motivation
@@johnames9253 And nothing like a commissar with a bolt pistol behind you to provide that motivation.
I look at movement as "tactical" movement and move move move is sprinting right out, not caring for safety or discretion lol
Fear, does not exist in this conscript… does it!
I like the autogun for sergeants just for the easy dice rolling when shooting. Its just two more lasgun shots.
Keep calm and CADIA STANDS!
Last i heard Cadia was a dust ring drifting around the eye of terror.
@@mrdelaney4440 HE SAID. CADIA. STANDS.
Glory for the smol boiz!
The big boiz gotta be next!
KASRKIN SQUAD READY FOR WAY!
(btw, Sah, I always told you not to underestimate the Cadian Shocks :))
Thank you so much for the Super comment!
And Kasrkin are coming soon :)
Cadians feel like the standard high quality Guard infantry now and the other battleline choices are slightly more niche / flavourful. Which is how it should be. Cadia set the standards in the Guard for infantrymen. Catachans are that regiment which skirmishes and Krieg are the ones that dig in. I think GW have nailed each regiment’s flavour and role plus now the power of each is more balanced
Sticky objectives is nice because so many units get rerolls to hit or wound while your unit is on objectives
Remember Feb collectable coin is Astra Miltarum
Why?
If you have Creed hiding around a corner in combined arms you can actually use its minus one CP stratagem once per TURN, so you can use it on the + 1 to AP on your turn with offensive orders like take aim or frfsrf, and then use the stratagem for giving and other order in the enemy command phase to re-order your unit to take cover. This way you dont give up on your exposed scoring unit and maximize its value.
I'm going to try Cadians in a Siege Regiment. 20 Cadian Shock Troops + Command Squad with Eager Advance + Castellan with Stalwart's Honours
Scout 6", 3+ save and -1 to hit with smoke.
One Squad of twenty with Command and Castellan is great for issuing out orders! Are they supporting Krieg or Catachan? (Or a Mix?)
I never ever leave home without two sticky objective units no matter the army. The potential headaches they cause is absolutely amazing and opens up even more units to maneuver or perform actions for primary points. Cadians replaced krieg in my index lists long ago.
Ones and twos? Absolutely! One or two companies!
Cadians in the codex got infantry squad cover abilities from the index without the heavy weapons.😢
the Cadian command squad did yes
I always take the grenade launcher over the meltagun. I love the 'idea' of the meltagun, but I just can't seem to ever pull off a shot with it. The target is ALWAYS either out of range OR I roll a 1 to hit with it. I've always done better with the grenade launcher, even with the AP round. I don't know why that's the case, but for me it just is.
The grenade launcher better pairs with the range of the lasguns and plasmagun, and the improved profile over the older addition makes it a competitive option. I pretty much always pick it over the meltsgun.
4 plasma guns with the command squad is my go to. ALL THE PLASMA and regening hazardous deaths is good ;p
without a command squad i prefer Dkok (comes with the medi kit)
but with taking command squads i prefer cadians for the double plasma and cover on objs and access to castellans.
Small thing about the autogun you missed, it got nerfed from 9th codex. It used to be rapid-fire 2. I guess that was "too powerful" and "meta breaking" levels of firepower so they just made it flat 2.
GW please. Oh well still take it for easy rolls. Just roll lasguns +2, so I don't forget and think it's rapid 2 again and "cheat" in 2 whole extra lasgun shots.
im def going to make lists where it is just Cadian's, then another for Krieg's, then another for Catachan's, just for all the fun.
I was just thinking it would awesome to see a tournament between the different guard regiments. Everyone brings a Cadian, Catachan, or Krieg themed list and brawl it out.
I actually think Catachan would have a good chance at winning. Scouts would give them a screening advantage and their HWT way outperform the other two.
If you want infantry orders then you have to have Cadians because only their characters have multiple orders.
Wish theyd given Command squads 2 orders instead of the Castellan.
RIP Infantry squads. I suppose I'll run many of my squads as Cadians now, but I'll never forget or forgive.
Time to defect to chaos?
@@LamentedSun I’m mad my options got taken away, I know I’ll go to chaos who famously never is mistreated or loses options. That’s a bold strategy Cotton.
@@devinjohnson3913 let's see if it pays off
Love the Cadians!
With the Krieg infantry losing 5+ Feel No Pains from the Marshal and have fewer special weapons than they used to, and Cadians gaining D3 models from the medic and Castellans giving out two orders a turn, Cadians are looking pretty good right now, atleast for being the glue for Castellans and Command Squads.
I think Cadians are going to be a solid choice going forwards, but I think Krieg are still the best bet for a Infantry Horde Guard army, It's hard to beat +1 to hit and to wound.
If I put Creed in the Cadian squad along with a command squad, can I use the master vox to issue Creed's orders at 24 inches?
Move move move should have name changed to "Advance or DIE!"" and commissars should be able to issue it. currently commissars can issue 2 different orders (+1 WS or +1 OC and LD) and those are probably the least universally useful orders. Giving them the advance order (which fits their lore as the gun in the back of troopers to keep them pointed at the enemy) would give them something actually useful for the first few turns of the game.
If you think that would make them overpowered, consider: their ability which allows them to execute a soldier to remove battle-shock from a unit does not stop that unit from losing their currently active order, and any situation where a commissar would prevent battle-shock would not allow them to control an objective where they otherwise wouldnt since they would remove battleshock at the beginning of their command phase (where an execution would have to happen to score you VPs), and you cant then use the ability until the movement phase by which you already have failed to contest the objective during your own scoring phase. At most you are killing one of your guys to deny the enemy a chance to score, which COULD be useful, but in practice it is quite weak.
I don’t see the point in a meltagun with Cadians. Unlike Kriegers, you’re going to want to keep your Cadians as far from the enemy as possible, which calls for 24” range guns. And it dovetails with their sticky objectives ability. You don’t want them to die anywhere near the enemy. Rather, you want the enemy to have to huff it to take that objective from you. So trying to get within 12” to rapid fire your plasma guns and fire your meltaguns seems pretty pointless, because if you’re close enough to fire that melta, then you’re close enough that the enemy can blast you off that objective, Advance the next turn, and then you’ve lost the objective. On top of which, they aren’t Kriegers. They don’t get Sergeants with plasma pistols, nor do they get +1 to hit and maybe even +1 damage depending on how much they get chewed up, and they don’t get medi-packs as standard. So they don’t have that extra bit of motivation to get up close.
So give them 2 autoguns, 2 plasma guns, 2 grenade launchers, keep the enemy up to 24” away, and include a Cadian Command Squad and Castellan. Then you can have the Castellan issuing two orders to the Death Korps blobs advancing down the enemy’s throat without risking a Command Squad in those Death Korps squads.
Good point about kriegs. I forgot that they have embeded medic. So kriegs actually don't need command squad to be tough at points and kriegs is the cheapest option to be the first wave spam infantry.
As a person who was just thinking about using solar aux las sections as cadians and wondering if I source bits to go plasma+melta or plas+something else this was perfect timing. Shame the Sgt has lame ccw options
Paint all the Cadians!
What would you recommend for someone that just finished up 2 x 20 man infantry squads weeks before the new rules came out? 😂 my sgts have plas and power swords and my squads only have the one special weapon per 10. Is it worth just getting another box and making up some replacements? 🤣
In the short term you should be fine with the fewer special weapons. It will get you into the mentality that Guardsmen aren't primarily damage dealers, but are objective scorers. Eventually, you should get an extra box for all your special weapon needs, but it's definitely not an urgent matter.
Regarding the sergeants, people are usually fine if you just say "the sergeants have autoguns, not plas pistols and power swords". Most of us have been around long enough to know that changes come and go frequently, and WYSIWYG is really hard to maintain for a number of reasons. Ofcourse you may run into *that guy* but... do you want to play with them anyway?
Quick question if anyone knows- if I return a Cadian blob with a Command squad using the reinforcements stratagem does the command squad come back minus the sargeant or do I only get the shock troops?
You only get the shock troops.
@@jimsutter2748 okay thank you I was confused because on the command data sheet it lists only the sergeant as a character
They could change the stats of las rifles to make them different from Kriegers
Example.
-Cadians(shock troops) ,kantrael [rapid2] less range,
-Kriegers (shooting from trenches) lucius longer range.
Or just different key words, like the krieg Lucius pattern being "heavy"
Lucius having rapid fire seems odd to me... but gw balancing rules around lore?
Not anymore
@@RazORKful they still do, they just didn't do different profile for each lasgun version like they didn't with bolters
so it's exactly the same as it was last year.... got it.
I think the key here is how the unit works now with the new command squad rules, recon detachment, and the loss of infantry squads. The base is the same, everything around them changed.
@@spencerclark6113 Also the Krieg and Catachan infantry changed a lot too because of their command squads (and the loss of Straken and Field Marshals). Cadians are looking quite good right now.
Reporting for duty , Sir o7
There is 'no" best troop . Mostly it depends on your play style and which you like best , "rule of cool"
With only 3 Regiments left "rules wise" , GW has de-flavored the guard . Johnny Rambo's , WW1 Frenchie's or NATO for millions of world ( 2 of those Regiments found ONLY on 2 separate planets in different part of galaxy while the 3rd has no planet just a pile of rubble near "eye of terror" )
Nice choices we have .. Lets call it 2 1/2 planets to fill the Imperium
Sadly , the Tau have more flavor now with Kroot options and Vesped
Every trooper in my army is my best trooper

If I've got 2 vox casters in a 20 man squad, do I roll 1 or 2 dice when farming CP?
2. But can only generate 1 cp max
1 from what i know
If you have 2 vox casters in a 20 man blob, do you get 2 rolls to try to recover the CP from statagems?
Id say no but if you have one at each side or front and back then you can spread that 6inch bubble pretty far
You don't get two rolls, you take two because they're free, and in case somebody snipes one.
So what is our unit choice for mechanized infantry units? Bring Back Steel Legion MFers! 🎉😂❤
Depends on what you want to do. If you want Scout it's Catachan or Kasrkin. If you don't care about scout then go Krieg as they get the medkit in the squad not the command.
If you wanna use the transport for mech guard and giving out orders take Cadian shock troops or Kasrkin as they can have the Cadian Castellan attached.
@DT-ce1fb mix it up, heard.
Wait.. how do they recover d3 units?
The command squad with the med kit war gear
@yokogaijinjr.5061 must be new, cuz it was a feel no pain 6up

How many points is a single vanilla guard squad these days?
Standard Infantry is gone now in 10th edition.
@@Sirilere Which is annoying, I've been running the standard Infantry Squad specifically for the heavy weapon team. Having Autocannons/Missile Launchers/Lascannons embedded organically in every squad is a good advantage, plus the sergeants could equip better weapon choices, and you had more choices for the specialist gunner. All at 5 points less than the special Regiment squads. I feel like this is a bad shift primarily centered on them trying to push the new Krieg models with the launch of their updated line and the release of the Codex.
@@Sirilere im a CSM player so im just trying to figure out wether they are in line with traitor guardsmen in terms of points or wether im getting ripped off at 70 points per squad.
Typically between 60 to 75 points depending on the infantry unit with Catachans being the cheapest and DKoK being the most deluxe.
70 points for the traitor guards men squad is a little high especially since they don't get orders.
@ In the Codex after the Day 1 "oops we screwed up the codex" point update Cadians, Catachan, and Krieg are all 65 points per squad of 10, Cadians and Catachan are 120 points per squad of 20 with Krieg being 130 per squad of 20.
