Art supplies and most craft supplies are very very expensive here in Canada compared to the States, unfortunately. Thanks for sharing your opinion and "art smarts" on these watercolors .We learn so much from you! 😉
I really like their acrylic paints and mediums, as i tried them back 10 years ago or so ago with their sample size containers. Didn't even know they started making watercolors.
I haven't tried the Triart watercolours yet but they make excellent acrylics. Some of my favorite acrylic mediums are from them and I have some of their colours too. FYI if any one wants to know...Triart is the professional line. They have 'student grade' or 'developing artist' acrylic paints under Rheotech and Artnoise but the watercolours are under professional. Thanks for this review. It was very informative 😊
Hang in there Lindsey. I enjoy your videos and have learned so very much over the years. It sounds like it is time to break out your M Grahams and a nice sheet of paper and paint like you did back in the day. No real plan. Create lines, brush strokes and any abstract. Turn a eefe envelope piece upside down and paint it. See the result after you are entirely finished. No peeking. Take care. You are amazing.
Thank you, Lindsay, for reviewing them. It was nice to hear your opinions on them. I like them for portraits because of their layering and no granulation. I hope your art funk breaks soon. Have a great week. Weendi
Thank you sooo much for all your time and help with bringing us so much info❤ I'm not a sketch artist or painter or anything but LOVE watercolors I use them in my color books..lol. my hands don't allow me to use color pencils and stuff in my books. But I still try to make myself be a painter..lol. I used like sketchbook size paper and just taped it in 4 little bits it was less overwhelming and I done kinda decent surprised myself. But I thank you for wanted to watercolor
Hullo Lindsay, I truly appreciate you and all of your hard work that you put into your reviews! It took me years to even try a different brand other than the brand my Gran taught me with! I have since found an economical choice in a professional grade paint, yeah another plug for DaVinci Paints! I know that buying from home grown companies and this may be the good option for Canadian viewers. I appreciate your honesty, but I found this review very well done and this shows everyone that can create lovely artworks with these paints, thank you Lindsay a wonderful video and review.
Thanks, Lindsay for the review! Here in Canada you can buy these at Currys, they are mid-range priced but I probably would pass on these because I have Paul Rubens already. 😊
I wouldn’t put these at mid range at all. Actually, I was a little disappointed that Curry’s is promoting them so much but, looking at their website and all the out of stock brands, it may be Triart or nothing from them in the near future 😠
Thanks Lindsay. That cerulean hue reminds me of Sennelier Cinereous blue. It also has white in it but really is quite nice in a sky and is one of my favorite blues for sky. But blue is my favorite color so I kinda collect blues. I love the real cobalts ( green and turquoise included)and cerulean and I may have a few too many tubes of them to use up in my lifetime.😂😂😉💜 And that's not counting pans that are in sets.😅
Cinereous blue is a pretty great colour. I was skeptical to use it at first, mainly because of white. Although I still don't use it much, but it's pretty useful. And since it's from Sennelier, it glazes pretty well too! :P
,👍 That mbs up for the daylight lamp💡 It has been very positive for me. In my city, the local library offers one, and people can take turns sitting on that table 🛋️. That's how I found out about it originally 👍
Back home (VT) crocuses were like a life line for me to grab. They were a splash of hope that held me up until the daffodils came out and it became crazy-dancing-in-the-streets Spring Time!
We are deep in the dreary winter, I too have been in a funk. I keep forgetting my vitamin D and can tell!!! I have been making myself paint every day, even if it is just swatching lines. I find it greatly impoves my mood. Anyway, I hope the funk passes soon! Happy painting ❤
I love tri-art mediums and other art supplies. I bought their watercolours based on how much I love the quality of their stuff. But they're just ok. I probably wouldn't buy them again, but I will still use all their other supplies because I love them.
We’ve got in Russia the same brand Malevich, it seams professionally, but actually I bought this for kids, cause it’s cadmium’s and cobalt free. In half pans they didn’t use caoline, but in tubes there are. And they says that their paints can’t be used in pans, only from tubes, because of clay in paints. It is for kids, not professional. But, i have to say, that they have all pigments for triad, clean phtalo blue and ect. So our professionals prefer use Wights nights, Pinax, Old master and other local professional brands or use RT, WN or DS if the budget allows.
Good review Lindsay. Maybe with that little landscape painting with the nice sky that you lost interest in you might consider a sort of 'How to re-energise a failed painting' video using mixed media?? Needless to say, I have several failed painting needing a new life!😁
Hi Lindsay! After all the discussion about pigments and paints, I was wondering where you can learn more about pigments in production and use. I listened and watched your huge watercolour palette tour, loved it, and now I'm curious. (Also how do you dispose of paint water responsibly?) Thank you for your videos :)
@@thefrugalcrafter thanks! I've been doing the same thing for a while since the only instructions I've seen are more for oil paints, which is understandable
Arylide = air l I’d or air a lid yellow is it’s a version of Hansa yellow. Air re o lin is the only transparent I’m familiar with. Tri art is a newer brand. We always used Stevensons colours before. I really like the Stevenson’ s colours if you can find them Import duties and the in ability to buy factory direct is very sad
Im in a wonky art time also im trying to get my art mojo back, atleast im watching art videos even if i cant produce much creative art...mikelle art mom✍🎨👩🎨🇨🇦🇺🇸
One of my favourite art stores brought in Triart paints and it looks like they are phasing out carrying W&N. That’s fine by me because I don’t use them, I use Royal Talens Van Gogh. At first I was glad to see that they are a Canadian brand, therefore I would love to support them but at the price point, I just can’t justify it. The name, packaging and odd rounded pans are a complete turn off, never mind the price point! They need to seriously reconsider everything if they are going to compete as a big fish in the watercolour pool. I am sticking with my Van Gogh
yeah, the non standard pan thing is a turn off for me as well. I mean it is cute and the bambook holders are beautiful but it's hard to just try a color without comitting to a palette ful and the price is a bit steep compared to brands we have here.
I’m sorry you are in a funk, honey. Be patient with yourself and don’t “beat yourself up” and get further down because you can’t help it and I bet majority of your subscribers (definitely ur loyal ones) are understanding. We care more about YOU than your videos ❤ I know that I am very susceptible to not having sunny weather!! I’m 64 and have had this as long as I remember…. Do what makes you feel better!! I know if I can help someone else (by sending cards, giving money, taking food to food bank or going through my clothes and donating to church closet cooking, laundry, etc or just listening to another’s problems or simply calling a friend and focused on making them feel good, etc. ) without expecting anything in return or telling anyone else what I have done has helped me many, many times when I was getting through rough times. I’m not sure who told me at 20, I’ve always turned to this way of coping because it’s what really helped me after losing my sister who was a Sr. in HS and having our family turned upside down afterwards. Now, I have to really push myself if I am feeling down at times , especially older I get…lol You definitely have helped so many of us!!!! I’m just offering what helps me. If it’s seasonal then just remember it will pass…. I wish there was something I could do for you, Lindsay, because you definitely have done a lot for me when I was very I’ll!!! Sending prayers for blessings, Nancy Rolfe I could hear it in your voice. We love you when you are SO excited and hyper or when your down and everything in between because you ARE so kind, so generous and caring!! Hugs from me to you 😘💕
I prefer plastic tubes. They aren't as easily punctured. I don't understand why all paints don't come in plastic tubing. It's also easier to massage the plastic tubes to make sure there is no pigment separation. Hmm, why do we associate plastic tubes with cheap paints?
I think because typically budget brands used plastic tubes. Branding. They might actually be superior but in my experience pro brands use aluminium. No one wants to be the first to switch.

We can never give up trying. I can't paint or sketch very well at all, but like you I love watercolors and art. 😘👍
I work across the street from art noise. They are an amazing company and the staff are fabulous.
I love your samples. If this is the work you do when your feeling out of it, it is still better than my best
You are too kind:)

Get a sun lamp and sit in front of it for 20 to 30mins a day. Helps with seasonal affective disorder and other winter blahs. 😊

Another Canadian company that I adore is Beam Paints 😍 I’m not affiliated I just really enjoy their products

There are a few! Stoneground Paints, Beam Paints, RusArt Paints 😊
@Art by Allison Dakin thank you for the information...I am relatively new to water colour so it helps me a lot...thanks again
And let's not forget all the Canadian Artisans on Etsy producing wonderful paints.
Would you consider during this type of review for your M Graham paints? Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely! But I have their paint purchased over the last 25 years and I don't know what colors have changed. I know some have.
