I've been tinting for 28yrs and always watched what other people were doing that I worked with and incorporated good ideas into my technique.
I always butted heads with the "It's my way, or the highway" types of bosses, especially when I could see a patently obvious solution, but they wouldn't listen. Great to see you spreading the message that there are multiple techniques to get the same result & to be open to different people's skills, and no 2 rear windscreens are exactly alike, there are always subtle differences in curvature, that's the most satisfying about shrinking rears, having to change & think about everything you do, or be rich & happy to screw up $40 bills all day! 😂
Seriously though, your video's are excellent tuition.
Keep up the good work with the video's, I think a good future Subject would be about the different mounting adhesives of the films, & the required type for different climates. For example Solvent based adhesive is needed in regions that experience temperatures below 0 degree's. But for climates like Australia water based resins are required to eliminate bubbling on the rear demister and adhesive distortion where the window has a black trim in the top rear corner. Some brands give you a lovely Xmas tree effect where you shrink them after 12mths(I don't want to be sued so I'll leave it to you to guess who's film). You could also cover the different types available e.g.standard dyed, dyed/metalized hybrid, Sputtered, (and the difference between sputtered & vacuum metallised films), Carbon & finally the new Nano Ceramics and the pro's & cons of each, & also the difference of flat glass film & why you shouldn't really put automotive film on houses. I'm sure alot of new guys get bamboozled at first when deciding on a stockline for their new shop! 🏪😂😊

Also yes many tinters tint differently! Which is what makes tinting so fun, it is almost a personality you create with your tinting profile ha! No tinters are exactly the same like a finger print ha

You guys make heat shrinking look so easy. First time I tried it, everything I see you guys doing....totally gets forgotten and steam roller creases are far easier to cause than it seems.

@@jgeaitani59 too much heat in too smaller area. Move the gun back and cover a wider area and it will work.

@@TintSchoolOnline I tint now (not as an all day every day business) but my install issue is maintaining a consistent process and using the same tools. I keep buying tools looking for that magic item and now i have a million tools and try use them all, it kinda distracts you and screws up your flow. I liked the book that it gives a procedure in steps and tools, it helped me put my head in a more focused place which is what i need sometimes. Great work, Cheers!

How much film would I need, on average for a car?
Could you explain the process of doing a windshield? I know in most states, here in the U.S., it is illegal to have the windshield tinted but i was charged 100 dollars for the windshield alone... so it will be pretty nice to know how to get around that riverview mirror if I end up trying this business.

Hi guys great video I’m really gonna make good use of this tutorial, I have a quick question I’m buying my window tint online from eBay mostly is there a difference in quality to what you would use? and will it help me in the process, If so were could I buy it from cost isn’t a problem it’s just I don’t know where else to purchase it from.

The back window section in our course is 3 hours long into 13 tutorials(PLUS an additional 38 tutorials in advanced and tint fixer for it)
It's very hard to make it into one video without getting tint trolls come here saying "YOU MISSED XYZ" 😅
What film would you suggest practicing with? As I assume cheaper films won’t be as shrinkable?? Am I correct?

If it's dry you can push the fingers out. But air bubbles need to be popped so the air can escape

You just need pull it off together. Start new film.
When you shrink the back window of a car what settings should your heat gun be high or low?

All the videos you have are of ones that can be rolled down how do you go about with a fixed window im assuming u slide a corner into seal then not sure after that, hopefully get my discovery2 done at end of the week

For a Discovery 2,you need to cut & shrink the rear screen so it is shrunk & flat up to the rubber. (remember to remove the eye level taillight first, spare wheel and rear wiper(it often flicks back & punches holes in the film.)
Now you need to trim 1/8th of an inch all around the edge, and around the demister terminal & tail light (if there is black ceramic section) if not remove the light completely to access that area of glass that 99% of time hasn't been cleaned since new. If there's dirt & moss in the rubber channels, I always use a garden hose or Gerni to get all the crap out, so it won't suck in behind the film. Use 0000 steel wool to clean the demister it'll shine right up. Now complete the usual preparation, paying special attention to the rubber & gap between it & the glass. You will know it is clean enough when you don't get any dirt or rubber on a white lint free cloth.
As far as fitting it, you must remember you're trying to put a bigger piece of film than the rubber, so it's a matter of feeding it in at the bottom, which will be full of slip solution, hence the need for religious cleaning of the rubber & channel. Next feed in one side(I prefer the left) and keep the film moving (recommend extra slip solution), next bow the film a tiny bit & feed in the top section & finally bow in the last side. Now line it up with your demister terminal cutouts, quickly check from the outside the edge of the film is even all around, reposition if necessary, then start with a small section in the centre and tack the film in position, then you want to work from the centre to the edges and to the top while stretching the film towards the top corner. Stop at about 5cm down and use a hard card or pointed contour to squeegee the last bit. To avoid suck back of dirt you need to go in one sweep from the centre to the corner, not only setting the film down, but also making sure the water is swept across & down. Repeat for the other half of the top section. At this stage you should use paper towel to drain the slip solution sitting in the bottom rubber, next after removing the paper towels, follow the same steps as above, but starting towards the left, pulling to bottom corner, and squeegeeing horizontally stopping again 3-5cmfrom the bottom, use your hard card/contour tool to seal the left side, then push all the water from left to right towards the drop down section while pulling the film towards the bottom right corner. Again stop 3-5cm short of the bottom, soak up excess water with paper towel again, then again with your hard card sweep the remaining 3-5cm out, while sucking up the water with paper towel. Place plenty of paper towel in the bottom section, then a hairdryer on low to dry up the rubber. Heat guns tend to make the film spear easily & suck dirt. After 20 mins or so put it in the sun, before you put the light back on for half an hour, then clean the inside of the tint before you refit the taillight. If you meant the Alpine windows I'd leave them to professionals, except if they are ones with dot matrix which are much easier. You will see the edge of the film from the outside on the rear screen but no gaps from the inside if you got your 1/8th" right. Good luck, the only easy option to eliminate the film edge is to remove the window & tint it out of the car.

How do we tint rear windows
Is tint shrink needed for all installs?
No not all but most. Almost all rear glasses needs shrunken. The film is flat and the glass is curved so the film won't lay down unless its shrunk. Side glasses has less curves so may get by with no shrinkage but won't last long. If door panels aren't removed must shrink the film to keep fingers down. Film can only be shrunk top and bottom edges. Hope that helps you out.
