Lava’s heat is ridiculously intense, people describe going near it like walking into a wall of heat. So yeah, guess it fits even without the touching stuff.
i listen to nectar and igor whenever im in and out of crushes, and in and out of love wanted to add my interpretations on the songs that weren’t mentioned, for flavor if nothing else: - modus, tick tock, daylight and upgrade are all about that rush early on where i’m telling my girl “i don’t want to be just friends anymore, i want an upgrade”. it’s the excitement in learning about each other (modus), the anxiety that these feelings will fade if i don’t make a move (tick tock) and wanting to spend more time/wondering if those feelings have passed (daylight) that forces the (upgrade). - high hopes is when she says yes. it’s all high hopes here. - nitrous is where the feelings start to go cold, where that honeymoon phase ends and i’m getting the feeling that she’s not into me anymore. pretty boy (to me) is hanging out with the homies to pick myself up (cus it’s got that party song vibe) - afterthought, mr hollywood, and 777 are when things start to fall apart. to me, afterthought is more about the sunk cost thing, where our differences (the devil) is being pushed away by the memories of excitement early on, like my girl only needs me if these bad feelings resurface and nothing else. the past me is referred to as mr hollywood in her mind, some ideal man that she’ll likely not meet but idolize, and i’m just trying to get her to focus on the moment so the relationship doesn’t fall apart. 777 is when it finally does. it feels more like an argument song to me, how the impostor syndrome hits and that we realize we have different values. - reanimator to me is trying to kill the good memories that’s washing over the both of us so the relationship stays dead (unreanimated). and the reason i listen to nectar and igor over and over is that they both encourage the listener to love again. of course love hurts, but if you brave that fear, beautiful things will happen too
Bro thinks he’s part of the video 🙏🙏 in all seriousness, that’s an amazing breakdown and I agree with the final statement about both encouraging the listener to love again. I think hearing about others experiences with love (whether they’re similar to ours or not) encourages us to make our own experiences.
For me, Devine feminine by mac miller is truly beautiful. As a man I don't cry, I havent cried from Movies, Tv, storys, rejection, heartbreak, or even physical pain in years. But Mac Miller just knows how to get me to weep
Gimme Love’s last part feels like I’m ascending to heaven while dying, and lying on the ground, surrounded by flowers. Only seeing the light. As if saying goodbye to the world And that’s exactly what I feel when I listen to Gimme Love
in a very similar sense, id say after hours by the weeknd would be the BEST depiction of heartbreak and the way it has the capability to send a person into a hedonistic spiral
nectar is one of my favorite albums ever since it came out and surprisingly it has grown on me even more and i consider it a perfect album now. Joji is amazing and i really hope he comes back strong
the video is really good, but a piece of advice, the jokes are really overdone, and kinda take away from the focus of the video. you can always have jokes in, but putting so many in when describing a topic as interesting as this turns focus away from your meaningful point to HAHA FUNNY LOOK JOKE! You have to find the right balance of jokes and information.
When this album first came out, I cannot stress to you how OFTEN I had this on repeat. I think it was my most played album of that year.. Now I need to go and revisit this.
i dont know how important this is to you, but if you search up like you do acapella you can hear oohs during the 2nd and 3rd chorus. along with each chorus getting louder and adding more instruments. ie. second chorus adds in the very beginning a heavy bass hit then it keeps it muted along with oohs as harmony. and more background vocals to go along with the oohs. third being strings. also also in slow dancing in the dark during the second part of the chorus after he says "cant you see" an audible clip of joji crying can be heard in the background.
I really like you and this video with a few criticisms. I wish the tone was more serious, it doesn't have to be as serious as a video essay but less meme heavy. Speak a little more slowly to get your thoughts out in a more calm demeanor. Also "glazing" if you're going to approach love in a deep and meaningful way, the commentary has to echo that tone. No hate, all love, post again soon.
Nah I like the memes it gives a sense of stupidity to something so serious and really that represents joji so much he may be doing such heartbreaking songs but the videos are completely silly most of the time
The best depiction of love would be Assume Form by James Blake for me. Sure, it may not be that realistic since it mostly focuses on the euphoric side of love, but it displays it so well that it is one of my favourite albums of all time.
ty for showing me this album, I loved your commentary and have just found another great artist edit: I just noticed you don't do this kind of content frequently, but damn I would love to see more vids like this
listen to ants from up there by black country new road or twin fantasy by car seat headrest ants from up there's final track basketball shoes uniroically blew my mind and had me sobbing the first time i've heard it. I've never had such strong emotions towards a song the track off the same album "the place where he inserted the blade" blew my mind the first time i heard it. Isaac Wood's vocals and writing touch me in a way nothing else does. I have listened to this album and their debut album for the first time, so so much in my life. I absolutely love the big band sound they produce, and isaac's anxiety driven and raw vocals on every song. He isn't the most talented vocalist in terms of pitch and such, but the way he projects his voice, and the raw emotion he puts into every track seriously blows my mind every time i listen to it. If you listen to the entire album, you start to piece together how all the songs are interlinked in some way, and his metaphor of the "concorde" is so fucking good. It basically represents his love interest throughout the album Twin fantasy by car seat headrest is also a super visceral and raw representation of the feeling of love. the entire album feels like one huge story with raw, powerful emotional vocals from a young will toledo. There are two versions of this album. face to face and mirror to mirror. I reccomend face to face, which is the 2018 full band full studio reproduction and revival of the album. The original (mirror to mirror) was recorded by will toledo himself with his laptop. He played all the instruments himself, and wrote everything himself. This is a prime example of if you have the passion, the gear doesn't matter you can still produce an amazing piece of art. Nectar in my opinion is not the best depiction of love in an album. the music is great, this is one of my favorite album's and probably joji's opus up until this point. But I seriously recommend you check out those two albums especially ants from up there. I think you'll love it.
sorry for my autism rant, i seriously just love these two albums for the specific reason of having the best depiction of love possible. great video tho, your channel will go far. as someone mentioned, maybe use less memes in the video? BUT at the same time, holding someone's attention span without a bunch of memes flying at you all at once is a very difficult task.
Don’t be sorry man I really appreciate and read every comment people leave so thank you for taking the time to write it out. I’ll try to improve the editing the next time I do a video like this so they don’t interrupt the commentary as much.

The feeling u get when you listen to arctic monkeys is just immaculate. For me by far the best, so is the band in general they just cant make bad music
I think not talking about 777 is disingenuous, it's probably the best representation of rebounds after THAT one relationship all the other songs are talking about. When you lose everything that kept you going and end up finding and escape on every other vice to fill the hole that one person left inside of you. Just to know that, there's no filling it in, just learning to live with the withdrawal of that sweet nectar
