    I just stumbled upon your videos at home recuperating from rotator cuff surgery. I have the same Outback but the 6' wide model. I've not had a chance to take it out yet, but have been upgrading my Jeep JK to pull this into my own life adventures. It's finally ready but my shoulder is not. I too live in the wonderful state of Colorado in Fort Collins soon to be Colorado Springs area. I love all your videos and your positive attitude is a real plus. I hope you continue sharing your experiences and TAG advise with us. Thank you and happy travels!

    Thank you SO much for all the detailed explanations. I'm planning on buying a 2017 Tag soon. You answered a lot of questions, and explained things I never would have thought of. I'm going to look for more of your videos.

    try freezing a few bottles of water and sticking them in the Norcold before you leave. they will help it to cool down and when they start to thaw,you will have a cold water to drink.

    Thanks for the video! I like the way you get down to the meat of the presentation without a lot of hoop-la and getting off the subject, like so many UA-camrs do! I've owned a MyPod since 2015, so it's a bit smaller, but the same concept. I own a Mr. Buddy propane heater, but would never use it inside...they produce way too much moisture, and I'm paranoid about being overcome with carbon monoxide gas, even with some ventilation. If you use one inside your tag, at least purchase and use a CO detector. For heat on cold nights, I would instead warm the interior with the electrical heater for a short period of time, then crawl into a cold weather sleeping bag. I purchased a -40 degree Alaskan Guide sleeping bag from Cabela's, and I've slept like a baby in -5 degree temperatures thus far...in addition to cracking open the roof vent and back window to keep moisture from my breathing down to a minimum. Also, if you don't mind the hassle of heating up water on your kitchen stove, then filling a water bottle or two and placing them inside your sleeping bag, they will also go a long way in keeping you warm. Also, with the extreme cold weather bag, you'll have something that will keep you from freezing to death in the event you get stranded in a freak blizzard, if your vehicle breaks down and/or you run out of fuel for the generator or propane heater. Several years ago, a man got stranded in the mountains of Washington state in a truck camper...he had been missing for over a month. Eventually, he ran out of food and fuel, and was not prepared to go without either and succumbed to the elements. Please keep these videos rolling out, and thanks again!

    You made me re consider this trailer due to your detailed explanation..
    .especially the windows and not setting up a camp kitchen. I would upgrade the stove to a bigger setup for sure. Great video.

    It’s a great little trailer, appreciate what you have, the entertainment systems will come in handy for other than entertainment, like video journaling etc! We have the T@B 400 and we have yet to use the tv but it’s nice to know if the weather isn’t favourable, we could use it if we so wished! Hey get some packing capsules for your clothes you would be amazed how much you can pack!

    I have the same trailer. I would suggest that you do NOT use a propane heater inside the trailer even if you crack a window. The catalytics still give off fumes that are not healthy. We have a custom Pahaque tent from the tear drop shop with an attachable T@g door tunnel. We run a Little Buddy during the shoulder seasons in the tent and even with a "leaky" tent, the fumes can get intense. An electric blanket draws less than your heater in vid.

    Had you considered a Hiker? I'm leaning toward the Hiker Mid-Range Deluxe. With a base price of $8,095.00, it seems to be one of the most affordable teardrops out there.

    I have the same outback but mine is the 6 wide, it has the additional microwave, shore power or generator only. It’s a off road lite, will go anywhere my Tacoma will go. I wish the fenders were heaver and I think I heard you say the frame is aluminum? The frame of the cabin is aluminum the trailer chassis is steel. I may pull my tire out and put I,t somewhere else. I have a 120 watt zamp solar panel, I have it on a 20 foot cable so I can park TD in shade and put panels in the sun. I go back and forth to North Carolina from Wisconsin, I love driving till tired pull into a wayside brush my teeth and crawl into bed. This thing is great for sleeping in. I use a small 300 watt electric heater, put it on head board about a hour before bed time. I usually have to turn it off during the night , last trip to NC it was 35 to38 degrees at night. I’m looking forward to your future videos!

    Generators are noisy so i got a cheap 300w inverter that plugs into cigarette lighter works the tv and charges everything. Sold my Gen honda 2000. Great discussion !

    • @reefer2917

      The honda is 2000 watts, are you comparing a 300 watt inverter?? sorry there is no comparison the generator puts out near 7 times the power!

    Great video Josh I happen to be interested in the T@G, and I was wondering if plugged into shore power or the generator. Will that also charge the battery? Also one more question do you know the exterior dimensions? I can't find them on their website :( Thanks Buddy and look forward more videos.

    • @joshuastjohn79
      @joshuastjohn79  6 років тому

      Yes either will charge the battery. In addition if you're using a 7 pin connector that too will charge the battery from the tow vehicle while connected and turned on.
      The following are the dimensions for the 5 wide (not the XL):
      Length (Bumper to Hitch= Approx 9 1/2 feet)
      Width (Fender to Fender)= Approx 6 1/2 feet

    I have the same exact Teardrop (Outback Edition). It states in the comments above that yours is a 2017, looks like a 2018. Thought I saw the outside shower which I thought was new for 2018. I've set up both my van and my 4 wheel drive to be tow vehicles depending on the adventure I have planned. Bought it in October and it's just sitting in the garage waiting for its first trip in March. Also I've set up both my tow vehicles and the Teardrop with solar. It really is a good way to go. Did you go with the 7 pin connector to charge the battery while you're driving? Great Video. Looking forward to seeing it get used.

    • @joshuastjohn79
      @joshuastjohn79  6 років тому

      Hmm. Now I have to back and find out if it was a 17 or 18. Honestly I wish I had gone Solar first (prior to the generator) since the only time I'll probably need the generator is in the summer (for the AC). I did go with 7 pin for the reason you mentioned.

    So many of the teardrop companies are over-charging like mad. 35K for something you can't stand up in? Please. You can buy a slid in truck camper with a shower for that. I like the NuCamp option. It will get you many places. Most people will never go where this could go. I've seen several on my trip across the country. Great for small camp sites in National parks and such. I'd love to know how you like it if you still have it. Most people go bigger after a year or so with one of these.

    Nice trailer but to be honest it seems a little pricey for such a tiny little package. I'm really considering one of these but I'm also looking closely at a lightweight fiberglass travel trailer such as a Scamp or a Casita which come with full plumbing/bathroom and a lot more room to store my things.

    No, no, no. I would not recommend getting rid of the spare tire. Have breast plate made for it at your local metal shop and just mount it over the tire using the existing screw if possible. Call T@ people...they will give you solutions. Please don't set yourself up like that.
