Brandon I can't thank you enough for covering this movie. When I was a small child on holiday I happened to see a few moments of a horror movie on the TV in the bar at our hotel. My parents hurried me away, clearly believing I was too young to see such things. But the weird images stayed with me for years as a deep seated desire to find out what else happened in that movie I only ever saw a few seconds of. I've spent more than twenty five years wondering what that movie was, unable to place it without a name or anything else to go by but those vividly remembered moments of film. But now I know. The movie was this one, specifically I had seen the scene where they are trying to autopsy the insect larvae and for some reason it sparks when cut into and they slam a cover over it. Now I can finally rest easy, you've literally answered one of the great and enduring questions of my life, what the hell was that film.

The script originally made a connection between the "green monkey" (African-based) that supposedly/might've/was rumored to have caused/be behind etc the whole AIDS epidemic, who had a genetic "cousin" (the blue monkey) from which sprang/sprung/sprouted and/or etc a mutated version of the virus, the DNA/RNA or whatever of which was transported to the US possibly carried on a plant, which led to the giant insect critter being born, if one were to continue the story from only the point the old guy pricks his finger at the beginning. But the producers deleted that big part of the backstory, yet had to retain the title for legal reasons (or laziness?)....Well, that actually IS what I remember from being around when the creature costume was being made by a couple friends of mine at the time. I had the script, but it had already gone thru a re-write when I read it, that pretty much eliminated the whole "monkey thing" (both green and blue) from the story. There was fear of the AIDS connection, that that connection might hurt the film at the boxoffice! (I think the producers were worried about the wrong thing, instead of worrying if their story made sense. They might've better spent some money on a better script. Oh, and some light bulbs!)

So it's possible that the kid is a budding sociopath/psychopath during the movie. Also he's the one that lead the troup of kids into the room. The other two seemed pretty innocent compared to the cap kid. They were ignorant while the cap kid seemed so sure of himself. Who knows, maybe the kid was secretly the main antagonist and was a murderer with no remorse the whole time and the leucemia was a lie. Maybe he was but a psychotic midget the whole time. @@menslady125eif2590 Hell, looks good even today. At least it's actually THERE, and not crap CG.
Some Hospitals have their own Power Plants, and troubled with staff screwing each other at work. The sauna at the hospital I use to work at is now regularly checked by security.
I worked for the mail room at a city hospital, and they DID have a maze of tunnels running under the buildings!
Actually a large percentage of old hospitals/asylums had tunnel networks under them, for reasons ranging from utility maintenance to supply delivery and body removal
Great review, I want to see this movie now. And actually, in the director's cut of Aliens, Newt's parents were responsible for bringing the aliens back to the base, so this movie's off the hook in that regard.
Alpha Woolf newt herself didn't bring them so Brandon statement stands
I was waiting for the lady to give birth to a bug monster. Somewhat disappointed with that.
I can accept a giant bug. I can accept a guy puking up a larvae. But a guy getting shot in Canada? Thats just too extreme
Holy Shit! This was one of the old Sci-fi channel's late night monster flick! I use to watch this movie all the time!
hopefully copyright strikes don't interfere and stop this marathon.
Glad to see you still make videos!
A woman I was working with in New Zealand Telecom is an aunt of Sarah Polley. She was very proud that her niece was in Barron Munchausen which was being filmed at the time.
It's on blu ray now, and it's a pretty good release as well.
1998 Godzilla got a show with a boy Godzilla since the temperature changed but they did kind of make a sequel but with a series
aight, Brandon, thank you for saving my life. You showed me that more than one bastard in this world saw this movie proving that I didn't just imagine watching it. Gave me nightmares as a kid, but i dont remember hating it. I haven't watched your video yet but I'm looking forward to it like a mother fucker, positive or negitive! keep kicking ass Neighber!
p.s. I find Canada to be an fine country. /)
Itt was more natural for Steve Railsback to leap through the glass door than opening it because he's the Stunt Man.
I swear this hospital must be run by the Umbrella Corporation
Cocoon was a movie about aliens fighting the old age or thats I remember I only watched it once and I was six years old when I saw it.
Brandon all of your Reviews they are great when I start doing reviews I don't have the budget you have but I will take a cue from your page
Blue Monkey is on Blu ray, Amazon $51.24
I saw this in 1997 on the Sci Fi channel...my big brother saw what I was watching and quickly changed it.
