    Hi!
    I am from Europe and my father has the same IH Cyclo 400 planter. It has hydrostatic drive for the blower and we have problem with it. We would like change the hydrostatic drive to belt drive but we do not know the proper diamaters of the pulleys. Could you measure on your planter please?
    Greetings form Hungary!

    I'm buying a cyclo 400 for my ih1066. Any pros and cons??

    • @WorldsOkayestFarmer
      @WorldsOkayestFarmer  Рік тому +1

      They work decent. Yeah there a bunch of cons they are old and require a good but of maintenance. Way behind in technology compared to the new ones but they will get the job done. Its an air planter so there are a few issues with that. The seed tubes make sure you blow them out every year. Bugs make nests in them and pug up. Lots of lubricant! The pro is they normally are pretty cheap. Nice to only fill one central hopper. Store under a roof iff your are able.

      @@WorldsOkayestFarmer are there any corn rows skipped or spaced out apart from the planter??

    • @WorldsOkayestFarmer
      @WorldsOkayestFarmer  Рік тому

      @@meateaterwhitetail7291 yeah I had some skipping. My JD 7200 max emerge is awesome with the finger pickups. No skipping. Bought no-till with yetter row cleaners for around $5500 much better but I bought that cyclo for $700 and sounds like you want to match the tractor.

    I'll bet you drove the combine operator nuts huh? Might have been better to broadcast the fertilizer. 19-19-19 will service the plant fine in 30" rows.

      +Bill Whitman the main issue was we should have planted straight rows with end rows. this year we will and we are trying for 32 in rows. What do you suggest?

    • @billwhitman1529
      @billwhitman1529 8 років тому

      I don't think I've ever heard of 32" rows. 20", 30" and 38" and 40" are what I am familiar with. Equipment is the guide here. You have to be able to harvest what you plant. You will probably want to look at a crop rotation as well. You can do soybeans year after year but corn is way more problematic. Your extension agent should be a great help here.

      +Bill Whitman Yeah well the combine is set for 30in rows but my planter was a 6 row at one time converted to a 4 row I can't really get the spacing down to 30 because the way the planter is set up I am going to have to look at it again this spring so its around 32 in spacing the guy who shells my corn said at 32 the head will still pull it in. I am even kicking around buying a combine down the road an old gleaner F with a 4 row head and do it myself. I plan on doing corn again this year and beans next year. Just picked up a 7ft chisel plow so that should be a big help this year.

    • @billwhitman1529
      @billwhitman1529 8 років тому

      You'll have to treat for corn bore? The chisel will benefit you big time if you put it in the ground. I would still advise beans this year as long as turkeys are not a problem, or deer for that matter. Yeah, he can pull it in but you'll still have loss. Kinda strange that with your planter you can't get 6-30's to 4-30's? And for real, forget fertilizing through the planter, spread it or hire it done by the Co-op. It'll put more bushels in the bin, way more than the minimal costs.

      +Bill Whitman can you explain why broadcasting fert will be better then side dressing with the planter I'm green and open to any helpful tips. I have a 3pt broadcast spreader.
