My man is using a gretsch and says it's good for worship lol, and not great for classic rock. That is a rock machine in your hands, you clearly just don't know how to crack that sound of it

Yeah, that made me giggle lots too! he's no idea how to use it obviously, I've had the Streamliner Jr for 3 or 4 years and it's driven everyone around me green and very frustrated since day one, I've retired my 69 Paul and my Strat Deluxe and my Horizon NT2 because of it, I use 2/3 gigs a week and for recording, it is the bomb!

Anyone claiming the guitar you are holding can't deliver hard rock or metal tones, is not someone who knows or understands its tonal capacity properly.

Looks like you've got the Chinese built version, do yourself a favour and replace it only with the Indonesian built Streamliner Jr with ONLY BTS2 pickups....you'll thank me lots!

Gibson and Fender are so plain looking compared to Gretsch.

Had it for 4 years now (October '19). Bought it the same way off the wall in the store. It was the most appealing to me, the best-sounding one, and the one I felt the most comfortable, even after trying some gibsons that were 4-6 times the price, that same day in the same store.
To me, it's super versatile, I play lots of clean, but I also go real high with gain and it sounds supreme to me, the amount of sustain is just crazy keeping in mind that those pickups are supposedly low output compared to PAF or other HB.

The guitar definitely punches above its price point. It’s very likely I haven’t been tweaking the right high gain tones. Thanks for sharing

I just got a G6255T. What are your thoughts on the humbucker pickups?

The best pickups Gretsch have ever made are their BT2S hands down.
They are only available on their less costly guitar models from 3/4 years back, the new replacements are BT3S (split coil type) and don't even come close. even their costly pickups can't replicate the BTS2 pickups.

I’m not a high-gain player, but I use mine for punk rock and it works awesome. It absolutely more American-flavored punk sounds like Rancid, early Blink and TSSF. I have a 2021 Epiphone Les Paul Standard as well and I never touch the thing. The Gretsch just has way more mojo.

Brother that neck pickup going to fall in the body, the bridge looks like it's trying to escape, you need to set it up!

I have a 5435 T with bigsby which I never use, but nonetheless, I play heavy rock over on my channel with it all the time

Love my jade 5220. Quick question. when your switch is either top or bottom are you still getting signal from the opposite pickup? I need to turn the opposite volume all the way off to completely eliminate the signal.

I don’t have that issue. I have had some electronic issues before with my bridge pickup. So I wouldn’t be surprised if others had some quirks

Would you say this can do the AC/DC Malcolm Young tones? I have never owned a gretsch personally and am in the process of investing in one. Also how close would you say this compares to an epiphone les paul standard pro? Hope to hear back from you, thanks.

Build quality is much better than similar priced epiphanies I’ve played. Can’t say I can answer the AC/DC tone. It does get a very bright and snappy tone compared to a darker tone from a les Paul

Malcolm was known for playing Gretschs exclusively.
There is a G522 Double Jet that looks and sounds pretty close to Mals Double Jet guitar.

I have this guitar in Casino Gold and I love it. The day I bought it, I was distinctly thinking of Malcolm Young, and tried the double cut version first, but when I picked up the G5220, it balanced perfectly in my hands. It's the main guitar I play now, which consists of playing ACDC riffs in my basement
