- This video details how to set up a 2008 Jayco Select 12HW pop up camper! Specifically, it gives step-by-step instructions on how to complete each step of the set up process properly, and more importantly, in the correct order. Additionally, this video highlights some of the differences between a “high-wall” pop up camper versus a “normal” pop up camper as well as the differences between Jayco and Starcraft campers. This is in spite of the - fun fact - that both Jayco and Starcraft pop ups were both owned by Jayco in 2008. Actually, Jayco has owned Starcraft since the 1990s and in more recent Starcraft pop ups, including those models from 2010 and newer resemble, construction wise, Jayco pop ups. With that being said, if you’re interested in seeing how to properly set up a Starcraft, check out our video here: • How to Set Up a Pop Up...

Glad to have you back on, we miss your instructional vids. We went to Lake Buchanan, Texas Hill Country last week for 11 days. Weather was great, a little windy a couple of days but not bad. Family from several areas around the state came in for 8 days, good food, was had by all, watched many children have a great time. We have six extended stays scheduled for next three months. Thanks for sharing. Bless you, wife, and fur babies, keep up the greatest camping adventures. Hope one day to see you out there.
Sounds awesome!
Great demo. Not too enamored with the removal of the road door. My Coleman/Somerset E2, like most, use the road door as an additional locking door when away from the camper.
Yeah, that is a nice feature of the those.
Nice informative videos, very helpful. I purchased a Starcraft pop up last year. Used it once last year, and looking forward to using it a bunch this year. Watching your videos makes it easier.
We were waiting for this video..... after one year with the same jayco, we still having problems .... thank you for sharing
What problems?
@@ItsPoppin mainly, installing the door, never fits properly. there are always huge gaps.
Gotcha. If your camper is perfectly level, left to right and front to back, your roof lift cables/eye bolts may need a slight adjustment.
Nice video, as always. 🙂 Our Fleetwood also has the full size door as the failsafe. Our Starcraft had the braces over the "arms."
Would love to see how you installed the roof rack on camper! Thx
Hello I've been following you for some time. Where do I learn about about my 2013 Rookwood 2318g. Like the when I plug into electric power do I need to use my propane for the heater to work or is thus only for the stove. Like most women would love to have clear understanding. Wood live for a zoom meeting. Lol 😆
Your heater requires propane and 12v power. If you’re plugged in, your converter will provide the 12v power. If you’re plugged into power, you can also use an electrical space heater so that you don’t waste any propane.
Your stove only requires propane, no electrical needed. Likewise with your water heater if you have one.
Yep! Exactly how we set up ours. Thanks for sharing 👍
Dont you try to get the canopy out first before you raise it?
I have a new to me 2012 Jayco 1208 model. The first time we went to lift it up, the back left arm came out as it was raising up and the roof collapsed on that side. I had to stick a 2x4 to temporarily support the roof while I got the spring back in the arm and put the arm back in the correct slot. Any thoughts on preventing that in the future? I lubricated the metal arms with a silicone lubricant, but not sure if there is anything else that can be done.
Do you happen to have the owners manual in pdf? Do you know where I can download it? I just bought the same camper and cant find it online at all. Asked Jayco customer service by email and completely ignored (but to include me in their email marketing list of course they were fast)
I am in desperate need of some help or advice ,my son and I can set up our pop-up camper within 15 minutes not a problem I bought a 2013 Rockwood 5 months ago from a dealership and when I was inspecting the camper everything seemed to be fine but I noticed when we first took the camper out camping that the door at the top has no place to lock in so there is a huge gap I have been using a pool noodle to stick in the hole so the bugs do not get in ,is there something that is supposed to be there???? Someone please help me. Tia
Now that the weather is getting a bit nicer in the northern climate, what are your guys pop up camper plans?
We just went to Cedar Hills State Park just south of Dallas/ Fort Worth Texas. Did some mountain biking there. Went to the Fort Worth Zoo, and fossil hunting at Mineral Wells Fossil Park. We are looking forward to going to Cloudcroft, New Mexico this summer where there are tall pine trees, black bears, deer, elk, and wild horses that wander around the campgrounds. The highs during the summer are typically in the low 70’s so it feels like a bit of heaven coming from 100+ in West Texas.
@@laingjscott sounds awesome. Being from the Phoenix area I can relate. My escape it to the mountains in Northern Arizona. Not too many black bear but plenty of elk, wild turkey and squirrels around.
@@KRT045 That sounds really nice too! I’ve been to Phoenix when I was a really little child and to the Grand Canyon a couple times, but I need to explore more of Arizona!
canadian rockies....
Our 2010 Jayco has the two safety bars
Ours is a 2009 jayco Jay series select. But ours doest have the dinette pullout.
Do you have a video on changing the tire to the spare tire?
Not yet - future video!
@@ItsPoppin cool. Mine doesn't have a jack. I assume use my F150s or else I need to get one. I just wanna practice 2 or 3 times on driveway. Will be more stressful on the side of a highway as well so want to get it down good.
Did I miss the leveling part?
No worries
hi ..... I never found the right tire pressure of the tires for this Jayco Select... Can you please help me.
It depends on the tire. There should be a max tire pressure right on the sidewall of the tire.
Yes@@ItsPoppin
So for Goschen style lifts, stabilizers should be put down last? After poper up and beds slid out?
👍
@@ItsPoppin could you explain why that is?
My understanding is that if you deploy the stabilizers before raising the roof on a goshen system it can induce twisting or warping in the frame as the frame flexes while the roof is being raised. If the stabilizers are not deployed, the frame can move freely as you lift the roof.
@@ItsPoppin thank you for the quick response. We’ve been doing it wrong 😑 Also the sweatshirt I ordered from your shop is awesome. My husband and I really enjoy your videos and have learned a lot.
The starcraft roof closes over the dutch door so cant open it to access the crank handles stored in the door. LoL
