    Ammonia. Ammonia. Ammonia. Water based floor wax "polish" dissolves instantly with zero scrubbing in ammonia. Lay it down wet and let it sit 5 minutes and then mop the floor with clear water.

    Congrats! You are the first "real person" like me to research (that I know of) and find the perfect spot between DIY and Professional Cleaners! I am subscribed and I have gotten the names of the items down that I will need on my over 100 year old hardwoods! It seems like such a sham that Bona, Rejuvenate, Johnsons Paste Wax, only put layers on your floor to dull it and then you have to get professional strippers and waxers to come to your house because no one makes these products available to the public, unless you go looking! I can't wait to get my floors clean! Thank you!

      That is why I did the research. I was shocked about this. I'm so glad you reached out! Thank you too for Subscribing 🙂 I hope to hear from you again! Good like on your floors! They'll turn out beautiful!

    I hope you realize this floor is actually a high pressure laminate floor and not real hardwood. I have the exact same high quality flooring and installed it myself. Hardness level 4 which is difficult to find so it does not scratch. Level 5 hardness is like stone and will wear off your socks quick. This brand flooring comes with wax on the interlocking joints that seals all the joints so you can wash as you did. Regular laminate floor would be ruined with all that wet cleaner dumped on it.

    Hi Myranda,
    I have exactly what you had! I polished with Bona a few times thinking I was helping cover up scratches from the dogs. It was shiny and beautiful as you said, AT FIRST, then it went downhill from there. If the dogs drooled a little we would have spots that would eat the wax away. If you pulled out the bar stools it would scratch off the polish, or just high traffic areas like you said. It looked awful. I have been researching and I found you and although I have not tried yet, it is going to be my next project. Going to order the supplies and get it done. I will get back as soon as I can with my results. I’m in Michigan so it’s cold right now, so instead of sweating, I may freeze with the windows open but so be it, at least the floors will look beautiful! Thank you for such an informative video. 😄

It looked so bad and not too long after I did it. Yes, please let me know how got goes. Our floors are still great here since I have fixed this issue. My dear, I'm sure that would be ok too. I only went with the towel bc that it was the directions advised.. but your solution sounds much more professional. I would have tried for sure. Just make sure that once it's sucked up it is filleted as well. As with adding water and sucking again with the dry vac.

      Jongro (this brand by the directions seems very similar to Dissolver) I copy pasted the directions because they ask to use acetic acid as the solution after to break up the dissolver where I used Squeaky. I hope this helps.
      Another I seen was Clover Remove
      How to remove floor polish
      POLISH STRIPPING:
      - Dilute 250ml per 5 litre of hot water.
      HEAVY BUILD UP:
      - Dilute 500ml per 5 litre of hot water.
      - Apply with mop or machine tank.
      - Leave for a few minutes, machine scrub with stripping pad.
      - Remove slurry, rinse with clean water.
      - Neutralise floor before applying polish by adding a solution of 20ml acetic acid (vinegar) to 5 litre of water
      - Damp mop the surface.
      - Allow to dry.

    I was quoted $3500 to refinish my pre-finished hardwoods after 2-3 coats of Rejuvenate. It took longer than a minute to get the wax to come up, but after lots of elbow grease, the came to their original shine. They look brand new! It does make quite the mess! I had a roll of paper towels and a plastic bag handy to pick up the clumps of wax. I also vacuumed prior to using the sparkle. I steamed my floors, too. They now are amazing and in their original state!

      I’ve been using Quickshine for about 13 yrs now on natural wood floors. The owner(we rent) previously had buffed, stained and sealed them, but they were kind of dull. This was over 20 yrs ago. There are spots from furniture drag marks, not scratches. It’s just where the wax gets removed. Can I use this to strip the wax on natural floors? Quickshine has never faded or dulled my floors. I may apply every several months, with cleanings in between. Only place that it shows up dull is if my small dog tinkles on the floor. It’s like the pee strips that wax. Can I use this as a spot stripper and rewax?

    I have been worried about using these products because they don’t clarify if it is a wax build up remover or a clear coat remover (which is more like polyurethane and not meant to be removed unless you are sanding and starting over with new stain and poly). So thank you. And thanks for clarifying about the sticky feeling going away and steam mopping is so clever. I would have had a panic attack if that happened and I hadn’t watched your video. No I feel pretty confident. Thanks. We all need to do what we can to save money.

    Good job! However don't steam mop wood floors. It's a lot more likely those boards were lifting due to using the steam mop then from the dissolver. The stickiness was left over residue from the dissolver and you just needed to mop again with the squeaky clean.

    • @myranda_achvan

    Hi Myranda, thanks again for this video. I have a follow up question. I've watched a few DIY floor stripping videos, and they always seem to use some kind of scraper to get the sludge off the floor (after letting the stripper emulsify the wax for a few minutes). But you are just using a towel in this video after the Disolver does it's work. How is that possible?

    • @strollingbones-films
      @strollingbones-films Рік тому +1

      And do you think you could the stripper/wax sludge off the floor with a shop vac?

    • @myranda_achvan
      @myranda_achvan  Рік тому

      Well the stripper dissolves and lifts the product from the floor entirely. There is no reason to scrub or scrape it off. When I did it, I could see how the solution changed. It looked like thin milk. At that point, just to wipe off the solution is all you need.

    • @myranda_achvan
      @myranda_achvan  Рік тому

      You could use a shop vac. But still, you would need to put the squeaky on after to stop the activation of the dissolver.

    You are actually using a 1 to 4 ratio of disolver in your video. You used one part disolver and 4 parts water. That's a total of 5 parts. And it's a 1 to 4 ratio. One fifth to four fifths is a 1 to 4 ratio.
    To use a 1 to 5 ratio, you will use a total of six parts. One part disolver and 5 parts water. That's a 1 to 5 ratio. For instance, one cup disolver and 5 cups water is a 1 to 5 ratio.
    Of course if the 1 to 4 ratio works best, then that's what you'll use. 1 cup disolver and 4 cups water. That's 5 cups total.
