  • According to the EPA, the Porsche Taycan Turbo EV can go just 201 miles on a full charge. This is the gauge view of the Taycan Turbo Alex Roy drove from an Electrify America charging station in Buckeye, Arizona to another in Indio, California. So I appreciate your work.... I am taking delivery of my Taycan Turbo S next week. I actually didn't care about the range -- 95% of the time, I'm driving within 200 miles every day anyway and I will charge at home -- but its good to know if you want to go on a trip, you can stretch the miles.

This is the main thing people don't get about electric vehicles. Every time you mention it people are like "YEA BUT I AIN'T GOT TIME TO CHARGE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR 3 HOURS" - yeah but 99% of the time you're driving less than the max range ,< 100 miles to work, errands, etc., and charging at home. You're never forced to use public charging, realistically unless you're on a road-trip, and yes, on a road-trip EV sucks because supercharging prices don't save nearly as much as regular charging at home does compared to gas and they're more sparse, take longer. But otherwise when you're not road-tripping, it meets nearly everybody's needs...

@@motormusique Because the EPA used old numbers on their test. Porsche released 6kWh more from their buffer after the test. Furthermore, driving a 60mph is the optimum test for any EV. A Tesla driven like this yields about 410miles on a single run with the same battery as the Porsche, while the EPA Test is about 370miles. If the EPA ran the test with this car it would've gotten almost the same result, but they factor in stop and go and not just rolling start and also weather - here we had perfect weather.

And yes I’ve tried it on several cars including the Taycan, it’s a great gimmick but totally pointless, a car with better headlights is actually safer than a gimmick designed for people that’ll buy any old shit, just so they can brag about it to someone else about how great their pointless shit is!🤷‍♂️😂

It has 3 more screens than the Model S, so you'll be looking all around the cabin versus the road and the screens look dated and not vibrant like the Model S. It has less range than the Model S, much less so you will have much more range anxiety. The look of the Taycan is nice but the car will be dated in a year or two. And mind you Model S is 2012 technology that keeps getting better with every update like 0-60 in 2.4 sec.

ECOMODEGATE : Dieselgate equivalent of range tests on BEVs. You put the car in ECO Mode before the range test. Your car basically cuts the power to the engines and AC almost by half. Your 0 to 60 under 3 seconds performance EV becomes 0 to 60 over 9 seconds average EV. Then you achieve good mileage. Then you put EPA test and its integrity into question. EPA is using default settings determined by the carmaker itself in order to do range tests. It is not EPAs fault if your EV cannot achieve good performance and range at the same time.

Because most people use a vehicle to get to work, errands, etc. If your daily combined driving is significantly less than max range (as most people's are, most people don't drive more than 100mi per day), you literally never have to ever consider the range, and you never have to fill up.

Even with these more expensive part's, it still has worse efficiency than the Tesla.. that says a lot about Tesla IMHO.
