Thank you for the canyon carving experience! It's clear the car handles exceptionally well, and indeed there is little use for more power. It looks like Porsche has carved out a niche in the EV space where many others have failed, and that's awesome! I suspect the 203 mile EPA rating is for the smaller battery pack. And of course real world range will be reduced with larger wheels and/or grippier tires. You are on probably fairly narrow tyres (to help achieve the long km range) and i bet that car weighs a lot. fair play to Porsche to get it so manoeuverable, which shows, because you are asking a lot of a heavy car to tank it round the bends without squealing. you cant have the weight and the speed and the narrow tyres without the squeal unless porsche got their systems to cut-in and forcibly trim your speed on the corners. Fortunately they don't, so drivers are free to cover the whole range - 'not squeal, 'squeal', and then 'hedge'!! Looks an interesting car - no doubt some 'appearing in a hedge near you soon' until we get used to the power delivery. thanks for the review. Seb
Should I wait for Gen2, let the kinks work themselves out. It's not hard to find a CPO on the lot for such a new vehicle. Do I trade in my Porsche Cayenne Turbo with a killer 541HP V8 w/Exhaust package? Hmm. Not fair comparing a $110K vs $140K Turbo before options, but I do love the external design in Neptune Blue. Mr. Regular described steering feel as a driving instructor did to him in a way that made so much sense. Do you feel the push back from the wheel decrease as the tires start to talk louder in that taycan?
Yes, but 12.2s 1/4 sucks for a car costing over $100k. And I know those figures are most likely conservative. But even if it reaches the 1/4 in 11.7s, there are several sedans right now that can accomplish the feat for far less.

Seb
Pretty fast driving on that twisty, bro.
Matt that sweater looking fire!! is it custom or new stuff by coogi?
Should I wait for Gen2, let the kinks work themselves out. It's not hard to find a CPO on the lot for such a new vehicle. Do I trade in my Porsche Cayenne Turbo with a killer 541HP V8 w/Exhaust package? Hmm. Not fair comparing a $110K vs $140K Turbo before options, but I do love the external design in Neptune Blue. I have no doubt this drives great and around curves.
Why is is it that every car presenter shows a launch but then laughs and yells all through it?
Matt, I really really love every single video you've ever done, but please pleeeease try not to talk for the mere 3.8 seconds it takes to get to 62 mph!
Because they are having fun with the acceleration. Although I do think focusing on that one figure can be deceiving. Tesla's accelerate really fast, but that doesn't make them sports cars, they still handle more like a luxury vehicle.
It a grom car as we say in Norwegian. It suits a big audience and as Matt says it’s not even the fastest one. This is a good contender for anyone who wants to try an electric sports car:) I want one:):)
If this is what electric sports cars are going to look like, I'm fine going electric
The sound of the engine is smooth
Is the spaceship noise actually more fun than a typical v8. Hmmmmm. Almost a v12. God we’ve come on so fast.
....yes, yes it is. V8's have existed for long and aren't extinct.
You guys have a good Podcast.
That is probably the fastest 25 MPH I've seen!
My early Taycan Turbo came on those all season Continentals.....500 TW and LOTS of squeal. A PS4S will fix that issue.
our pre-pro testers had PS4S - a necessary upgrade if you've got a Turbo.
@@TheSmokingTire Yeah, I was the guy that beat the crap out of the Contis at COTA in January....the Carousel was a screamfest. Amazingly, the car still pulled a 2:34 on those crap tires. What a car.
@@sanjaymehta6948 Turbo S was the best car I drove last year, bar none. Its incredibly rare that someone with the level of experience I have gets to try something so unbelievably new and different and that much of a game changer.
@@TheSmokingTire Totally agree.....I got the first one in TX in Jan, and it just blew me away. It was hilarious running down Z06s and 911s on the straights at CoTA, and its natural cruising speed is at least 100 mph. Unlike my Model 3 Performance, the brakes held up well on track too.

California should host WRC tarmac rallies, Those roads are beautiful!
It will not perform the same at different battery levels....
As a driving enthusiast I think the pick is clearly the lightest, so 4S, small battery, no rear wheel steering, 19” wheels are enough. I don’t know how much weight that saves though
Definitely wouldn't buy the first model year, but would love to buy one in a few years insane car
Not an EV guy but I am a porsche guy. Only EV i would ever consider purchasing.
14:58 clean 1st gen CRX 😍
Love the car, but it's a good thing it can be turned off because by the end of the video, the "Jetson" sound was really annoying. It's hard to reconcile a 5000 lb car - at all - but how it moves is undeniable. Can't wait for the next-gen batteries that promise to be lighter and provide even more performance. Yep, the future is electric.
Test drive the taycan turbo s, hell of a car, still a true Porsche despite being an electric car
Very nice job. Good driving. What brand tires did that particular car have?
Continental All-Season Eco tires. Pilot Sport 4S is optional with the larger wheel packages.
@@TheSmokingTire Good to know. I'm hoping for Michelin and I got the Turbo wheels. Hopefully they won't make that much noise around corners.
kin hell that is one gorgeous looking car
The way you review....you’re too funny man !! sei troppo forte! 👏👏👏
“Portable roller coaster that you can take with you” - yes, that’s the definition of portable.
Matt likes this. He may be so
So on electric power train but he likes this loads !!!
Funny how you can actually see the sharpness of the suspension on the camera but obviously the tires are not up to the level of the suspension.
What are thoughts about the panamera sun roof? Would you recommend a client getting the sunroof or without it?
The mountains are so pretty after the rains! Wonder why Porsche didn't give this thing real tires, I bet its way too close to the Turbo with the right tires.
Taycan is the EV I want. Love it so much
What a weather to drive this beautiful amazing car!
Its not fake noise. It is called the “turbo” and batteries were name after and array of cannons. So are batteries not actually batteries?
This could legitimately steal some sales from Tesla. Personally, I'm more interested in the upcoming Audi e-tron GT which I think looks the best of the three (incl. Model S).
Both look awesome vs forgetful looks of Tessie MS
Mr. Regular described steering feel as a driving instructor did to him in a way that made so much sense. Do you feel the push back from the wheel decrease as the tires start to talk louder in that taycan?
Man that launch looked pretty quick and it's not even the turbo...
Yes, but 12.2s 1/4 sucks for a car costing over $100k. And I know those figures are most likely conservative. But even if it reaches the 1/4 in 11.7s, there are several sedans right now that can accomplish the feat for far less.
Tyran Mathurin when has Porsche ever tried to compete with mainstream brands in straight line performance per dollar?
