This what the Rolex Explorer has been - a tool watch of the highest quality, but not to expensive to wear it every day even in a hard environment. As I prefer a watch without a Diver bezel, but still a divers water resistance, it is close to perfect for me.
I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on this watch for some time now and I've watched every review I can find on it, and this one is definetly the best review out there. Very honest and thorough, great video
I've had this watch for about 2 years. And I can say that it's a great multi purpose watch. Oh, I'm pretty sure the lug width is 20mm though. Great review as usual my friend!
I love this watch! I've been eyeing this baby for over a year. I finally bought it on the black leather strap and this is my first day wearing it. Stunning. Sinn quality. If you love the stark black/white graphic dial and the flieger heritage, you will love it!
I recently test drove a Nissan Altima with black interior and the gauges look exactly like Sinn 556. When I turned on the car and saw the gauges for the first time I immediately thought of this watch and made me like it even more. It made me realize I watch a lot of watch videos on you tube. Lol. I was gonna save up for a bronze watch but I think I like this one more. Great review like always.
Ok, she has arrived. Very happy. Perfect for my modest size wrist. Had the bracelet adjusted in a few minutes. No issues with sharp edges and no need to mess with the clasp. This is a keeper and will be my aviation watch, replacing a 22 year old Rolex GMTII I’ve just had serviced for about the price I paid for the 556a on the H bracelet. Rolex in the vault and the Sinn into the wild blue yonder. I’ve ordered the new ss 36mm Explorer for my wife. Can’t wait to put them side by side in probably three years.😁
I’ve had mine for about 4 months now and absolutely love it. I work outside a lot and regularly use hammers, impact drivers etc and it has put up with all of it. No marks on the glass whatsoever but it’s not short sleeve weather yet so we’ll see how it survives the summer but I’m pretty confident it’ll be fine. Was running +4/day for first month but now it’s settled down it’s losing 4 seconds a week! Well happy with that. How it stands overnight makes a difference - crown down +1 sec a night / dial up it’s dead on 👍🏻 Never had a problem with the clasp and undoing it, it’s a great bracelet and looks fantastic. It actually has a dive extension as well which seems to get overlooked on most reviews. I’m also a gigging musician and wanted clear legibility on a dark stage and it just doesn’t let me down in any situation I’m in. Perfect one watch collection for me 👌🏻 One note, I’m in uk and was told 1-2 weeks but had to wait about 7 weeks for it, be patient now, it’s worth it!
Beautiful dial, elegant, simple, and highly usable. But that date, looks so small, that it would difficult to read. Although I agree, it is very discrete, that you don't notice it at first. Great video as always!
I’ve debated picking up a 556 for over a year now. The specs are absolutely perfect for a daily driver, and it’s highly versatile. It’s pretty much the perfect 1 watch collection. I just could never get over how far the crown sticks out 😕. Still a beautiful, high quality timepiece nonetheless. Excellent review as always.
Hi there , I’m researching the Sinn 556i about to pull trigger on a purchase . Do you still highly regard this watch? Is it still a good value proposition even at the $1,500 price tag ? Thanks for any feedback...
@@FINEST-uz9ek Yes I already worn it for 6 months. I still think it is a good value at the price. In the past 6 months, it consistently performed +/- 1 seconds a day. 200-meter water resistance and all brushed case made it a nice all-round everyday watch.
@@FINEST-uz9ek The only downside I found was that it was a bit heavier(140g with bracelet). It didn't really wear uncomfortable, but I think choosing Sinn 556 with their fine link bracelet would be better than the H link one. (but H link bracelet was more sporty which was the reason I chose initially.)
@@steven821130 thanks... I’ll take a look at the fine link version but your right the H link looks really sporty... the time keeping on yours is incredible!
Too bad the bracelet endlinks seem to not quite fit the watch. And yea, hopefully they remove the outer AR coating in the future. I do like the 556A tho.
When I began watching this review I was not at fan. At all. After your explanation, macro shots, and overall organization of the content it grew on me substantially. Well done and you have a new subscriber.
TimeToGo Travel And Timepieces Ah, of course. I’m now checking out your channel. I’m happy so see you have Damasko videos so I’m about to binge on those hahaha.
Well-done review on a very good-looking watch with excellent value for money. BTW, contrary to you, I don't have a problem opening the bracelet's clasp at all!
Good Review, I’ve been keen on this watch for a while. It just haven’t pulled the trigger possibly due to its size as I have a 7-1/2” wrist and worry it might look too small
How it looks to you is what matters; if you think it will be too small you are probably correct. I have a 6 3/4" wrist, bought a 37mm that reviewers all say "wears big" and it looks, to me, like a child's or woman's size watch on my wrist. For reference, I have a Seiko Alpinest (38mm) which looks fine on me.
Robert Sanchez - I got an 8" wrist and get away with my 30mm vintage dress watch or with my 36mm vintage Orient. I wear watches from 30 - 47mm. So try it at an authorized dealer and then pull the trigger.
The width of your wrist is what counts, not the diameter. I have a 7.75 in. wrist, but my wrist is almost as thick as it is wide. Therefore, I can wear a 34-38 in. watch just fine. A 41 in. watch looks huge on my wrist.
Guess you have to grow nails so you can open the clasp😁 I ordered mine a few months ago and am looking forward to messing with the clasp when it gets here.
Offhand Airgunner - you miss a lot when you think there are no good automatic watches under this price tag! From Seiko5 for less then 100,-$ over Microbrands like Phoibos for around 200,- and entry level Swiss brands like Tissot for around 500,-$ you can find so many great watches...
@@SkysaxonDragonslayer I've had (2) 809's, another Seiko, 2 Vostok Amphibians and none of those impressed me long term. If I had the budget for a U1 or a Doxa, I'd have one. Quartz, solar and G-Shock for me until that happens.

My problem is so o get the 556i or 556a? The only watch I own is marathon GSAR (36mm) and while I love it, it’s not gonna be the last watch I buy. I think the Sinn sill and I’ll be a two watch kind of guy, but which dial??? Ahhhh

I love Sinn watches. Like you said, they do check all the boxes on what a watch guy's looking for and sell it for a reasonable price.

Al Reid Hey Al. Appreciated your post. May I ask how you feel about the Sinn after another 12 months?
I love the clasp release mechanism. This will be my travel watch, and will help with people trying to steel the watch.
Beautiful dial, elegant, simple, and highly usable. But that date, looks so small, that it would difficult to read. Although I agree, it is very discrete, that you don't notice it at first. Great video as always!
Thanks 😊. I prefer discreet dates as they are something I will use rarely while time reading is something I do many times a day
I didn't see the date till I looked after reading your post, and then it was like where's Waldo.

Great review, thanks! Agree about the AR coat. I would definitely exchange some reflections for added durability.
My dealer polished the AR coating off the outside of the crystal when I asked him to. Didn't even charge!

Nice! I'm saving up for the Sinn 556 i B or M, I can't decide between the Blue or Mocha brown dial!
Alan Lau I love blue dials but the uniqueness of a Mocha dial is something I would give serious thought to.
@@eyeheartsushi2212 Agreed! I been talking about blue for a while but the I'm getting seduced by the mocha dial lately haha

Why do companies put a/r on both sides. On the underside only preserves the a/r effect, yet also prevents scratching.

6,7"

Definitely a classic. Too bad Seiko doesn't license out the use of Lumibrite as that would make this watch basically perfect.
I agree, Seiko seems to be the best in the business when it comes to lume
lug width is 22mm?
Sinn's are nice and I like this one.👍
I love their Legibility
Same movement as the Stowa T02
Just scored this on leather for $600 USD!

Gorgeous field watch. Awesome lume. Reliable movement. Date window too much 'discret'.
Josep Maria Aguasca Ribot Agreed about the date window.
Nice video. I have the Sinn 104

True 😃
unfortunately i cant find this watch on Amazon
And you never will. Watchbuys is the only place to buy new in the USA.
It's on amazon uk for £1650, but you can get it direct from Sinn for €1140, so don't buy it from amazon lol.
Thinking about the Sinn 556a but I would find it difficult to replace my skx013 daily driver but .....
Lug width is 20, not 22 mm. Check your data, mate.
