The Rakshasas had spies and would've certainly carried the message of a bridge being built and it would have been very easy for the Rakshas to sabotage the work. Why doesn't anyone ask/answer this question. What is Valmiki Maharshi trying to tell us? Why bridge and not Boats/Ships?
Impractical because how many ships will you build for the army? Where would you bring all the resources? Bridge is simpler, you just need logs of woods, sand, soil and stones.

They have to make ships for millions + time for millions to reach there. And vanars are vanars because generally they live in jungle & they don't use boats. So, bridge was the only way.

In Valmiki Ramayana it clearly mentions the Cera, Chola and Pandya's, and Thamirabarani river that Angad team have to cross to reach the Southern Ocean so I don't know where Jijith Nadumuri got his data from. You read the Valmiki Ramayana first you don't even have to buy its available free on the internet.

Ramayana, technically is a poem. Every poem has figures of speech and metaphors, and Sanskrit language has the most of them all ever. There is no desperation, it is called interpretation. Remember your school english exams where you were asked to explain the meaning of the poem? It was never strictly what was written in words. There was always a deeper meaning. Also recall it was so tricky! People forget this simple fact and end up doing hypocrisy.

The place he mentioned was about 700 km away from southern tip of India, that's a really really long Sethu, Valmiki says the Sethu is 100 yojana long and 10 yojana wide, lets say the distance is only about 500 km long and 50 km wide and lets assume its 10 m deep (if they are magic floating rocks) then the amount of rocks needs is equal to over 100000 Pyramid of Giza, that's impossible even for the Vanara army, forget about that even the bridge between India and Sri Lanka require rocks equal to about 400 Pyramid of Giza, even that is a mystery to be solved. So don't mention your beliefs as matter of fact always do your own purva paksha.

But योजन to miles conversion rate is not yet fixed. Different authors give different numbers. 1 योजन may vary from 2.5 miles to 9 miles.
