This is the first time I’ve heard this piece played like an elegy. Not only does it work, it made the other interpretations I have found here seem so wrong. For example, Paul Barton’s rushed tempo bleeds the piece of all emotion. What do others think?

Paul Barton is not Leif Ove Andsnes, the latter has performed for so many audiences all around the world and the former has his own (nice but isolated) music studio in Thailand; end of story.
