Thank you for finally clearing this up, I’ve been finding it difficult to decide whether I should go to film school or not and this has definitely made my decision easier to make.
Awesome video man! As a 21 year old aspiring photographer, videographer and digital graphic designer, I've always wanted to get into that after high school and so since I was highly expected to go to college, off I went. The program was a 1 year foundational hands on program and there I learned a whole lot more than I would in 3-4 years. Everything from camera basics, lighting, studio shooting audio, the Adobe Suite. I just had a passion for everything I was learning and found it helpful and I loved going to class knowing that I was working toward my goal. In that one year, oddly enough I ended up graduating with honor. Through that one year alone of learning the basics and a few advanced stuff, I felt like I was really ready to branch out on my own as a creative and starting my own business. But then I was convinced by my parents that I needed to continue my education, but I was doubtful I really needed it. I ended up going for a 2 year program which is similar to the first, which I'm halfway through now. Now, looking back, I kinda regret it since I didn't feel like it was necessary since now, there are countless tutorials online on how to get into photo, video and design, how to create and how to go about running my own business and other stuff like that. Couple that with both working part time and going to school, strapped both for time and financially and I just never really got an opportunity to really branch out and try to start my own business and work on my portfolio. Anyways, yeah I totally agree that nobody cares about your credentials (unless they're some really picky) and that time and money would be better invested in working on your skills and investing in equipment.
@@samanthakeaney8563 The first program was called Media Foundation at Humber College in Toronto. It was basically a 1 year foundational program for you to test the waters to see what you like and don't like in terms of media. It gave you a l taste of everything from photography, video, graphic design, broadcasting, media relations, journalism, public relations and scriptwriting. My main interest was the photo and video part, which I really learned a lot from. I did very well on all my assignments and courses and even ended up graduating with honors (requiring an average of at least 80%). The second program was called Media Communications at the same Humber College, a 2 year program. I was recommended to that program from my previous program coordinator. It's pretty similar, but a more advanced version of the previous program. Mostly the same concepts, but a new and more advanced twist. Nothing that I couldn't learn online to be honest. But honestly, I wasn't really doing too well in that program. I'm supposed to be in my second and final year, but due to the pandemic and other personal circumstances, things just went haywire. Shortly after I started that second program I realized that this additional education was unnecessary (at least for me). I already had the base skills to branch out on my own and there are countless resources online in which I have immediate access to in which I can grow my skills. I feel that it'd probably would have been better to invest in more time and money into gear and building my business rather than school, but you live and you learn.
@@CameraDiscipleJosh is Humber a good program because I live in Toronto too, because I’m in grade 11 and I’m kind of looking at colleges for video editing.
Hopefully I get to the point where u r atm because I chose not to continue school for video editing, because I believe that going to school is a waste of time I'm currently in 10th grade and I think it's better to use the rest of my years on learning video editing. Ive been editing for a almost a year and just started using after effects just couple months ago and I think I'm pretty decent at editing but not that good. I especially want to learn vfx but I don't have a good enough computer for that.. Anyways thanks for this.

Go with your gut - that's always the answer but glad I could offer some insight!
What did you pick?
The fact that you decided to say the answer at the start, I decided to finish watching the video.
