    I have been looking for an in depth review of this particular stove. Perfect for my old farmhouse. My local dealer at Shepton Mallet had none in stock. a while back. I need something to replace an old Vermont castings.

      I think it’ll work well as a replacement. The Vermonts are great, but very picky on fuel. Stock is really tricky this year, there are a lot of issues, but I believe these tend to be available with a week or 2.

      A company in Shelton Mallet supplied and delivered our Dru 64. It’s a beast so was very pleased they offered delivery. This is a brilliant stove, the casting is exceptional, the control is second to none. We’ve had it for 3 years and it’s the best single item we’ve purchased for our cottage. Recently we started running it on apple logs and it will stay in over night.

    Hi,
    I bought a house with this dru 64 in it. The chimney has been cleaned yet when I light up the stove it smokes a lot (the smoke remains inside) and I can't get the wood to burn with big flames as you did in the video.
    Can you help me?
    Excuse my English, I'm French and it's not my first language.
    Thanks in advance
    C

      Hi, I bought the 78 for my farm. "In order to create sufficient draught and to prevent smoke from being emitted into the room, the chimney should be warm enough before lighting a fire. A cold chimney can be heated up by lighting a ball of paper above the fire plate or at the back of the bunker.
      To kindle the fire in the stove you can use paper and/or firelighters and small pieces of wood.
      Slightly open the door and turn the air slides wide open." From the instructions manual. openeing the ash tray door when setting the fire is very efficient.

    How do u conclude that its upto temp? Stove top temp or flue temp?

    • @TheTortoise
      @TheTortoise  10 місяців тому +1

      Either is fine (it is only an indication). Another very effective way is that the bricks will clear themselves of soot, though it is important to not go further with temperature when they begin to clean themselves. Once they’ve started you’ve achieved the required temperature and time is needed (at the same temperature) to complete the task.

    Do they make one of them in a back boiler
    To run radiators

    • @TheTortoise
      @TheTortoise  Рік тому

      Getting back boilers nowadays is a bit tricky, I would look at Clearview if you’re after one. A bit cheeky, but they’re still making the old boilers that everyone else as ceased production of.

    Hi, was wondering if you can help me please? I am looking for a double sided wood burning stove with direct air, I currently am considering the woodland double sided but was wondering if there was any other option that would have a more traditional look like the arada holborn WS ? Hope you can help, thanks so much for your videos, I'm definitely getting the holborn 5WS for one of the rooms, I'm just checking if there was another option for the open plan room that needs a double sided stove. Thanks so much Deirdre

      Hi Deirdre,
      Thanks for the message.
      Yes Mendip stoves make a few, the Woodland, Loxton and Churchill double sided stoves. I haven’t tested the below, but it might be worth looking at the following:
      E-Cosy Hampton double sided. Pretty new and untested, but looked interesting on their website?
      I also found a Henley Hazelwood, which may be worth looking at.
      Unfortunately I haven’t seen either of these so I can’t recommend them, but they do have the ticks in the boxes you’ve mentioned.

    Any idea what size rope I need for the door seal? At the end of this season I’m planning on replacing the seal. Thx

    • @TheTortoise
      @TheTortoise  Рік тому

      I believe it’s 8mm soft rope, same as Morsø castings too.
