    ATTN: UA-cam IS SHUTTING DOWN ALL GUN CHANNELS! I have moved over to Rumble. Others are leaving UA-cam in droves as well. All my NEW content is being posted on Rumble and all my old content is being sync'd by Rumble and stored on their servers for preservation. My channel is easy to find, just search for "NFA Review" in the search bar and you can find me and subscribe! UA-cam has given me 2 strikes so far on videos that weren't out during their new policy change. In addition they are deleting 5-6 videos of mine a week! They are doing the same to other Gun Channels and even the manufacturers that have channels. It's time we take our viewership over to Rumble! No more scrolling and watching non gun related content while we are logged in, no more fresh content, no more support. They don't want us here and Rumble has extended open arms to us and other free thinkers who aren't afraid to call BS on how far society has fallen! See ya on Rumble!

    Got a new Tomcat as a direct result of this channel. Kevin at GSL is happy! The Tomcat really is "The" suppressor for .22 rifles.. We demo it on both the S&W 15-22 and a Ruger 10-22 Tactical.

    I'm very surprised by the pillbox. I didn't think it would work as well as it did. But how quiet that 416 was?! Wow!

    • @nfareview
      @nfareview  2 роки тому +2

      The pillbox sounds ok from rounds 2-7. The first round fired has bad port pop due to the sealed bore aperture and after the 7th shot the wipe is toast. I bet it sounds good on a bolt action 22 rifle though. It's the 22 suppressor you bust out to talk about it and never really shoot. It's cheap enough to buy for that alone but you won't be shooting it on a small pistol much. Conversation piece and something to experiment with when you source some wipe material and a punch. Hope that info helps!

    I picked up the Pillbox Plus earlier this year and I'm very happy with it. I agree, that first shot has a lot of back pressure. I run mine wet with petrolium jelly which works quite well. The Tomcat is next on my list.

I can see where mine is pinned, so I'm guessing you could drill out the pin and weld The can... or is there a solvent/treatment that can be used on a "non-serviceable" Suppressor in order to Fire rimfire through it? Thank you love your channel!

    • @iamKevinKinzer
      @iamKevinKinzer 2 роки тому +3

      GSL actually built the G5-22, and every other Gemtech suppressor sold before 2015 in their Jackson, MI facility. Gemtech certainly doesnt have a problem with the production of the Tomcat. The older model G5-22s are almost identical to the GSL Tomcat, since they were made on the exact same machines. The direct thread mounts, and QD flash hiders are compatible with both, and GSL keeps them in stock. As far as turning the Gemtech G5 into a user serviceable can to shoot rimfire through it, I would not recommend it. It would almost required completely destroying the suppressor and rebuilding it. GSL would not do it no, but I'd definitely recommend a dedicated 22 suppressor rather than trying to use a sealed 223 suppressor for 22 also.

    • @iamKevinKinzer
      @iamKevinKinzer 2 роки тому +1

      @@clintmullins8670 reduction, is the most transparent way to measure them, and its how GSL rates all of their cans. regardless of what ammo or bullet weight or barrel you are using, if you fire one bullet and get X...then put on the suppressor, the average reduction is X-40 or whatever dB reduction. Many companies spend all their time on dB, but GSL actually spends significantly more time on ensuring POI shift is minimized. I personally think the tomcat does much better sound reduction than the woodland, but a lot of it is very subjective to how the shooter hears the tone.

      @@shibalseki8818 Not that I know of currently. That said, we will be doing standard testing on all of the GSL product line over the next year, with ALL variables listed (atmospheric conditions, ammo, firearm, barrel lengths, POA/POI shifts if any, recoil reduction, accuracy/precision data). These will be published on UA-cam and Rumble and we will attempt to be very precise in all aspects of the testing. We believe that our products perform extremely well, but we don't rely on marketing hype but instead on standardization of testing. There are a number of products out there that may look more impressive from a visual standpoint, yet in a performance comparison they often come up short. There are others that tout new technology in order to reduce back pressure, yet their ability to reduce dB is severely compromised. There are good engineering/design methods to reduce this back pressure in the can and at the same time, address back pressure in the firearm itself through adjustable gas blocks, buffer and spring combinations and other inexpensive modifications that are easily done for $10 or less on the AR platform for example and when done, you get much better performance at a much lower price.
      Part of the difficulty in discussing suppressors is that due to NFA issues, once you purchase it, it becomes a lifelong item typically, so there is often an owner bias involved in any opinion on competing products. Additionally, there are typically few opportunities for people to make direct comparisons side by side prior or even post purchase so a lot of buys are based on belief in marketing data rather than actual performance. We are trying to address this by presenting standardized testing with our products. There is a testing company out there (Pew Science) in which companies can have their products tested in a standardized way, but the testing costs charged are pretty significant and the company can choose to have the results published or not based on their desire, which makes a bias towards only publishing favorable testing.
      So in the end, this is a glimpse into how suppressor companies choose to market their products and the difficulty for the end users to understand apples to apples comparisons. That said, the very best way is to attend shoots in which multiple companies suppressors are all there to be heard/tested. SHOT Show range day is an example of that type of practical side by side testing. Unfortunately those chances are few and far between. Another comparison would by on channels like this in which a knowledgeable host with a lot of suppressor experience reviews cans, however, due to the sound limitations from camera capture and computer/tv playback, you never get a really decent sound to compare. Finally, dB reduction is just one of the design performance criteria; another would be in the frequency of the sound signature which is also extremely difficult to address except in person.
      Since 2015 when Gemtech was ultimately sold to S&W, GSL is no longer affiliated in any way with Gemtech so the chances of improvements to that design are probably limited, I would guess.
