Important to remember that taping fingers and wrists isn’t a substitution for doing the correct rehabilitation on injuries, or strengthening the areas that need it - and if a Dr or a Phsyio has given you exercises or specific supports/taping methods for your specific injury then you should listen to them first and foremost! Why do use tape
Enjoyed seeing extra goalkeeper training. I wonder if it would be useful in the future if you did a voiceover on the training then you could explain the drills, what key goalkeeper skills they are using and how they relate to a match scenario. Personally I think that would be very useful for goalkeeper coaches and goalkeepers at different abilities. Enjoyed the Vlog

Today I had a match and in the warm up the ball hit my index finger akwardly. My finger was swollen and I remembered this technique that you showed to tape it up. It was the first time I've ever taped something on my hand. And it worked well. I would like to thank you, for making content like this. Keep up the good content and keep grinding.

Months ago, I had a metacarpal fracture as a result of contact with the pole when I was making a double save. Ever since then, I’ve been taping my hands especially my palm carefully.

@@juanbahamon4020 depends… just in case I would see a doctor about it. I have jammed, broke, and sprained my finger before. Did not know exactly which one came up when I hurt my finger

Good video Con. Haven't taped my fingers in ages as I find it annoying and the rape tends to come loose during use.
Tape my wrists usually when got a slight injury as you say, but I try not to over rely on it if I can. Have had to play the last 6 weeks taping my wrist / thumb though as injured my UCL in my right hand and doctors been useless. Got to go see a Musculoskeletal expert but another 6 week wait now, thankfully my Physio I use Sent me a link how to tape it properly. 😅

Pinky yesterday, and I have one of the biggest matches I’ve ever played in tomorrow. My pinky feels sore I feel the pain in the middle part of my finger but can still move it fairly easily. I’ll go to GP but if I tape it up I should be good to play tomorrow?
Hi mate, no worries! Obviously listen to the doctors, can’t give medical advice on it, but if its ok & just pain, tape it well & you should be good to go. Good luck!

Hello Conner on football manager I have been using pitea and your one of my key players on getting promoted also wondered if you could help with kicking drill off the floor and in hands when I kick the ball of the ground it dosnt go high or have much power and my legs hurt great content

Thanks for this, my dumbass decided not to wear goalie gloves during a game and I punched the ball while it was flying towards me and I felt my bones fly back and I had to go home. My mum lectured me and told me to fix it myself so this video helped me a lot

Can you advise your thoughts on finger saves and if you would advise using them for training to develop technique and play a game without them? Any advice would be appreciated.
I don’t like them myself, I find they make my hands too rigid. I like the gloves to feel like an extension of my hand, with natural movement. I did wear them when I was younger, as I felt they gave me a bit more support, but stopped around 14/15. But it’s all down to personal preference really!

Hey Connor I’m not sure if you’ve already done this but I’ve been out for a season due to a bad dive which caused some nerve damage in my shoulder, and now that I’m finally getting back into it I’ve realised that I completely forgot how to dive/get my body to jump and fall without hurting myself, any advice/video idea?
Just build it up again slowly to get your confidence, even if it’s reps starting from kneeling down. I had a similar injury, watch ‘Dealing with Goalkeeper Injuries’ on my channel, that might help!
Any tips for protecting your groin area as a keeper? Went to save a one on one and got smacked in that area with the ball. Happened a couple of times now and I think this is really underestimated in terms of long term effects this could have for obvious reasons.
Some GKs wear some form of protection like a box, but very few. It's not something that I do personally, but it's personal preference I guess!

Conor, how tall are you? You should do a video for smaller goalkeepers (men below 6 feet tall), telling them how they can compensate for not being tall like Manuel Neuer and others. Nice video, I subscribed right away.

I don't know if this is actually useful but I hated to always throw the tape away after using them and having to buy new tape rolls every other month. So I started using boxingband(don't know if that's the correct term). It is essentialy a long elastic with a wrist tap at the end. It works just as well, you just need to end the wristband beneath the wrist and of your gk gloves so that they don't bulk up. Would love to know what you guys think of this solution.
As a side note I think taping/using boxing bands has more often to do with the mental side of things. I only use it in games(I don't even play as a football gk(yes of course sometimes with buddies) but regularry I am a handball gk). It is part of the ritual and puts you mentally in a more serious and confident headspace. Cause I think we all know that it doesn't matter if we taped up or not if we trained hard enough we will make the safe regardless of the accecoires.
Yes, making the saves isn't dictated by our accesories. But, reducing the risk of injury and strengthening your wrist/fingers with tape to avoid pain is a real benefit from taping. By this I mean that taping is not only for the mental purpose but mostly (at least for me) necessary to prevent finger injuries.
Yes, there are definite mental benefits to some keepers with it!

I only do that for mobility really, so go with what works best for you

Hi Conor. After a sabbatical of 2 years due to an injury, I want to return in the goal. I broke my middlefinger 2 times. First time it was the middle joint which they had to correct via surgury and placed a screw in it. Last year I broke the same finger but now the bottom had a crack and the upper joint was broken.
Any tips on how to protect it?
I'm sorry about the injury! I wouldn't be the best to say, as I haven't had it, so I would speak to a physio/doctor if you can - but you can try different strapping techniques to see which help the most
I used to use the Zinc Oxide 1-Inch tape on my wrists when I had small injuries, but my god, does it pull out the hairs on your wrists/arms😂 I know I‘ve just come from getting balls smashed at me but I’d rather that than have to rip out hairs🤣

It's tough, I would speak to a physio if possible! If it's the knuckle, you can do it like I did my fingers here. But if it's lower down, then I'm not sure of the best way!

Hi mate, at 14 I wasn’t taking football extremely seriously. I trained probably three times a week, and had one game, maybe an extra game for school too. But at that age, if you want to go pro later, you can start to do a few extra training sessions to try and improve different areas of your game. But it shouldn’t be every single day, because you need time to do other things and have fun too!

It’s hard, I was the same when I was younger, but unfortunately you can’t control your height. The main thing is to eat a healthy diet, and get plenty of sleep. Instead, focus on improving all the other areas on goalkeeping that you can control!

I'm not sure with the thumb, if it's the middle knuckle then the same technique should work. If it's the base of the thumb, maybe speak to a physio!
