  • Capturing the Andromeda Galaxy in an Astrophotography Image is a treat from dark skies, but you can capture something extra from city skies: hydrogen-alpha light. In this video I walk through my steps for collecting the light and then combining imagery from multiple locations and sessions into one integrated HaRGB image in Pixinsight.

    Thanks for watching everyone!
Do you have a favorite method for HaRGB integration?

What you are doing with that RASA is just simply amazing ! And man, wouldn't that be something to image our own Milky Way! Clear skies man!

Great final image Nick. Also, great short tutorial for combining Ha to RGB and THEN explaining what you see from the results. I totally agree with your thoughts about potential life in other galaxies and as to how 'they' might be peering back at us thinking the same thing!!! Great thoughts to ponder, but I also agree with you ... we / they will never know for certain.

Great result! I use a very similar method.. I think there's a few variations of the same method floating around. This technique will come in real handy for the upcoming galaxy season :)

That's a beautiful image of Andromeda. I feel your pain when it comes to a lack of clear skies but I'm hoping that will improve as we move into summer here. I use very similar method for adding Ha to LRGB images. And perhaps we can find a way to remote into the observatories in Andromeda to book a few hours imaging time of our Milky Way (Alien Live or Alienscope ) :)

So good, do you think the Ha data would be noticeably different if you captured it in the Bortle 4? Or thinking could get a bit more data from in the city and wouldn't be able to tell the difference, not sure if light pollution shows up slightly in Ha
