I hear you about NYC. I'm from a small Midwest town. I love going to NYC, specifically for Broadway shows. But, every time I go, I both love it and feel completely overwhelmed. It's like magical and dreadful at the same time.

Allison, I love watching all the adventures and travels you guys take. As someone who loves to travel myself, it’s so fun to watch. But I have to say, sweet girl, you seem like you really should consider living somewhere with seasons. The way you appreciate and get such pleasure in travel during fall, and the way you love the coziness of Christmas/winter, you just seem like someone who would love living in 4 seasons. I grew up in CA. My husband and I moved from San Francisco to Denver when our daughter was 16mo old. I have to say, even after 13 years, my heart still sings every time the leaves start to change, the first snow storm of the year arrives and the first green buds of spring appear. Having followed you for a while now, I have a hunch you would love all those things too. 😘

And, also, you two were lucky to get a one-on-one session instead of the entire latte-making class. Imagine how much that would have cost to have a private session like that. I hope they didn't charge you for it, or, at least, not as much as the class would have cost you.

I was born in Brooklyn and a real city brat in my teens, 20’s and 30’s. Now, I also look for slower, less crowded times. May I suggest you take the ferry next time and come to Snug Harbor on Staten Island?! Maybe spend the day and see Historic Richmondtown, the Conference House, and/or the Tibetan Museum/Garden?! Hi Alison, You would love Governors Island, which is across from Manhattan w/ a 6 minute ferry ride. It's calming, relaxing & historic. I used to live there b4 they shut the Coast Guard Base & turned it into a tourist spot.
I loved Hudson Yards & Chelsea Markewhen we visited a couple months ago. We also went to an Observatory near Grand Central Station which was awesome. We didn't make it to Brooklyn but we will when we return this Spring.

I felt the exact same way about Time Square! It was a great to see but gave me a lot of chaotic energy and some anxiety. The first time I went to NYC I said I was never going back lol, but now that I've had time to reflect I'm eager to return. I relate a lot to how you described it as magical and miserable.

My goodness going to New York City is now like going to Disney, about 16 years ago I took my granddaughter to the Children’s Museum of Art and then had lunch at Katz , she loved the pickles the most , she was about 3yrs old , I can’t imagine having to wait on long lines and all the crowds now

All your travel vlogs feel like a virtual field trip - I learn so much! :) It's such an incredibly gift that both you and your hubby enjoy the same things. I geek out over coffee shops, little home decor and gift boutiques, bakeries and architecture but my hubby enjoys going into neighborhoods and talking/learning about community leaders and history. :) I'm currently pondering a healthy balance for us both on our next couples vacay! :)
