CROSS is at 880K views. It's a pretty cool song with many key changes between C" - A" - B, and it's very melodic. Saiki get to show that she's a musician too being able to sing flawlessly from key change to key change while Mincho is efforlessly shredding througout the song. CROSS was released on the album Just Bring It in 2017.
Again, these ladies can do no wrong. And an added bonus, Kanami steps up to the microphone, just for the woah woah woah part, but nonetheless, I love it when she sings.
Saiki’s vocal power, ability to modulate so seamlessly and unbelievable air support has me wondering if she’s even human. I dare any singer to attempt this song without an oxygen tank

The fact they sing mostly in Japanese is almost certainly a much bigger factor than some random old men being anti-female band. Why do you think K-pop groups have started adding a lot more English lyrics to their songs? It's because they know that's the key to expanding their fanbase in places that are not fluent in Korean. Personally, I'm fine with K-pop groups singing in Korean and Band-Maid (along with others) singing in Japanese, but there's almost certainly a ton of other people who don't feel this way and won't give groups a chance if they have to read subtitles for lyric translations.
A lot of truth in that. "Thrill" was the first one I heard and was my favourite by default. Since then, Dice, Real Existence, Choose Me, Bubble and now this have taken that fave spot for me. Also, I love how music is so unifying for people. I actually felt tearful the first few times I experienced the part where they all sing "Why don't You Say wo oh wo oh o."
this actually is a great example of Miku showing her strength on back-up vocals, we all know Saiki is doing a superb consistent job, but as a musician myself I know first hand that playing guitar and singing back-up isn't an easy task, anybody who has done it knows, so this is a major shout-out to the little engine that could, everybody who knows the history of Band Maid has to agree she shows what determination and discipline can lead to, its called BAND-MAID!
I think now I can actually say, Bruce Springsteen, Queensryche, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Meg Meyers, Tori Amos, every favorite music in my life is crushed by Band Maid. They are like a thousand Romulan warships descending on your soul.
So true, I used to be fan of Queensryche, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Dream Theater. Then some day last March I found Band-Maid, and what a find, I hardly listen to any other bands anymore. Their music is super complex, just as complex as Dream Theater only in a different musical style and much shorter songs. I believe Kanami has restricted herself to not write songs longer than 4-5 minutes, or else she would easily drift into writing prog metal and prog rock, I know she is capable.
This isn't a straightforward banger like "DOMINATION" or "RINNI" - this is like a simultaneous masterclass in control, technique, and precision from all five ladies. Each one of them is unleashing a virtuoso performance in harmony with the rest. It's just a remarkable all around performance from them.
yes, one may not realize this at the beginning unless goes far into the song the changes in rhythm (how saiki is changing the melody, idk if melody is the correct word to describe what i feel about the song) are very clear as the song progresses. this is why i like how you describe this song with the word "control".
This is my current favorite, because like you say, all five girls are just superb in this song. First, I love the way Misa is mixed in this song, the recorded tone she achieves, and the very way she enters the song. Then, they modulate multiple times, and I also like the recording "tricks" they use. Kanami sings some nice backups, in addition to Miku and Saiki's vocals. And finally Kanami is basically riffing throughout the song, relying on Miku to handle the chording. Simply awesome!
Some of Band-Maid fans listen to and look for “hard rock.” And, it’s fine with me. But, I take a little bit different angle…I do listen to THEIR MUSIC or something coming out of each of these girls, or the FIVE INSANE MUSICIANS. Hard-rockieness, punkieness, metalieness…can only be a matter of marketing to me. Their musicality and musicianship inside these girls, which the band really enjoys themselves, and which I, as a fan, really appreciate is the true awesomeness.

The Force is very strong with Band-Maid. Kanami compose great songs, and plays her guitar virtously. Kuruppo aka Miku writes great lyrics and sings her vocal parts with passion, I like her voice it's really sweet. Together with Saiki she is part of Band-Maid's signature sound. Akane plays her drums like the world class drummer she is. MISA plays the bass unlike most rock bassist, she is a virtous on the bass, and her bass lines are always interesting and melodic. Saiki is the best rock singer in a long time, male or female, her voice and singing style is one-of-a-kind. Add all this together and we get a super strong package. Together they manage to make every song they make sound interesting. I've been a hard rocker since the 70s and a metalhead since metal was invented, Band-Maid is the best band so far this century IMHO.

Tickets can only be purchased from their website/link to Zaiko (bandmaid.tokyo/). At the top, click on the "NEWS" tab, and the information there will point where to go. The link on their website leads to an additional site (Zaiko) that will be hosting the show (ie: NOT on UA-cam). If you're not a Member of Band-Maid "OMEISYUSAMA" the cost is 1500 Yen ($14.00 USD), members are 1000 yen ($9.33 USD). This is a thank you for the music. I found you ladies last fall on UA-cam through a reaction channel. I have been a fan of hard rock since I was 15 in 1978. For me it was Cross, Freedom, Play, now it's Dice. I can't get enough :D.
初期から聴いてるけど、日に日にBandmaidカラーが良い意味で強くなってて、嬉しい
this actually is a great example of Miku showing her strength on back-up vocals, we all know Saiki is doing a superb consistent job, but as a musician myself I know first hand that playing guitar and singing back-up isn't an easy task, anybody who has done it knows, so this is a major shout-out to the little engine that could, everybody who knows the history of Band Maid has to agree she shows what determination and discipline can lead to, its called BAND-MAID!

Indeed
You said it best. That's why this is my favourite song of theirs.
yes, one may not realize this at the beginning unless goes far into the song
the changes in rhythm (how saiki is changing the melody, idk if melody is the correct word to describe what i feel about the song) are very clear as the song progresses.
this is why i like how you describe this song with the word "control".
That type of songwriting you're describing is what I appreciate about them so much in songs like Wonderland, Mirage, and Bubble
サビで半音転調したあと、どうやって元のキーに戻すのかは作曲者、編曲者の腕の見せ所だけど、曲調や世界感ごと置き換えるような戻し方が面白い。
melodies are nice

Some of Band-Maid fans listen to and look for “hard rock.” And, it’s fine with me. But, I take a little bit different angle…I do listen to THEIR MUSIC or something coming out of each of these girls, or the FIVE INSANE MUSICIANS. Hard-rockieness, punkieness, metalieness…can only be a matter of marketing to me. Their musicality and musicianship inside these girls, which the band really enjoys themselves, and which I, as a fan, really appreciate is the true awesomeness.
I'm agree. For me is Band Maid's music no more(or less). How Beethoven's music or Ellington's music or Coltrane's music.
Abso-dang-lutely!!!!!
Is the "And, it’s fine with me." reference to Puzzle or just a coincidence?

I like that they brought Kanami in on the backing vocals on this song. They should do that more often.
I agree!
And she and Miku should be turned up louder!
@@timothybrown4583 yes! Their mixing could add a little more emphasis to backing vocals. sometimes I can barely hear Miku!
Kanami's voice is soooooo sweet, I melt everytime I hear her sing, and my heart goes bom bom maybe I'm in love LOL
I could not have said it better. Long live Band Maid!
@@johnrowland2887 I used to have Dream Theater as my #1 band and I have all their music and have seen them live. Then I discovered Band-Maid and fell in love instantly, I now have all their music and listen to them daily for the last 6 months. Like you said, long live Band-Maid. May they continue to compose and record for a very long time. I have to see them live, even if I have to travel to Japan to make it happen. I'm in Norway, about 24 hours travel time to get to Tokyo from where I live.
@@jan-ovepedersen5764 I fell down the rabbit (pigeon?) hole about 8 months ago myself. I now have all of their CDs and a couple of BluRays. I had thought rock was dead. I can only hope this happens sooner rather that later. Greetings from the US.

Been listening to this song countless times yet I still can't hit that last drum note 02:54 100% perfectly. Akane is a beast.

More specifically, she is a gorilla!
@@akkcal8268 it's like she's just toying it like a child
This song is pretty cool, with many key changes between C" - A" - B, like @bodnarn said "Holy Modulation Batman" but it's pretty damn cool and very melodic. Saiki get to show that she's a musician too being able to sing flawlessly from key change to key change. I love Saiki sooooooo much, she is a great singer, one of the best there is.

I've never used Zaiko before, can you speak to its ease of use and credibility?
Tell me more about it please
@@theonewholost7651 It'll be a first for me too... Let's try and compare notes I guess.. Good luck
OMEISYUSAMA membership is 500 yen ($4.68 USD) per month or 5500 yen ($51.43 USD) per year.
I was pleasantly surprised as to the ease and use of Zaiko's site information and sign up procedure. You do have to sign up for an "account" at Zaiko, but nothing too difficult or intrusive. I think it took me all of 5 minutes to sign up and have the ticket order complete.

This is a thank you for the music. I found you ladies last fall on UA-cam through a reaction channel. I have been a fan of hard rock since I was 15 in 1978. BAND-MAID has become the music I listen to most of the time. I will start with some of the old stuff, Van Halen's first album or the Cars first or maybe some Bob Seger or maybe even Rush but I always come back to BAND-MAID. So, quite simply, Thank you and in no order but only because it's the way it came out of my old brain, you are all equal as members of BAND-MAID, Miku, Akane, MISA, Saiki, and Kaname. Your music has made my world a more beautiful place.
We are the same person. Band-Maid, your music has made my world a more beautiful place. Actually renewed the joy I used to feel.
I totally agree with both of you, this magnificent rock band has captured my heart and I've been writing in many posts on their videos here on YT how they make my world a more beautiful place. It's the truth, I discovered them in the middle of the pandemic and they were a Godsend for me. I love all the bands you've mentioned, VH l and ll are incredible as well-the rest aren't bad either. All of the ladies are exceptionally talented. Their music has renewed my interest in music and has been very inspiring. All Hail Band-Maid! Here's to renewed joy!
I feel it the same way. Band-Maid brings a lot of joy into my life.
