There used to be a time when I got tired of seeing small block chevys in every other custom build. These days with LS's being in everything I love seeing the old school small blocks.
“Thanks for the Memories” At 20 Y.O. I owned a pretty low mileage, stock appearing, 66 SS, numbers matching, orig. 350 HP 327 (rebuilt and tuned at Garlit’s Speed Shop, Tampa), B/B, P&P heads, Crower, Edel. alum. intake, Holley 850 SB-DP, 400+ HP (High RPM Screamer), Muncie Rock Crusher, TD clutch, 4:56 Posi Rear, drag links, same color paint, turquoise Int. “Old School sleeper” ,1/8 mi. street / drag car. It cornered like a shipping crate and had the A arm squeaks, but 0-105 in a straight line... banging that Hurst T- handle through that Muncie was mechanically raw, a downright blast and it surprised some people. Yeah, by today’s standards it would be fairly slow, but it wasn’t back then. That’s the only car / toy I’ve ever regretted selling. Sold it for $4,500 in 1985. 🥲 It’s not even about the $$$ it would be worth now, those were just simple / fun times, without much of the drama we live with today. ✌🏻
A friend of mine had a '66 Nova of the same body style back in the late '70's that ran like a scalded dog. I had a LT-1 350, Muncie 4-speed, tall gears, with a Ford 9 inch. An absolutely beautiful little car that he bracket raced. This car reminds me so much of his......it was the best body style Nova that they ever made with it's simple, straight lines and nice interior. Boy, did this bring back memories. I love it when Shawn says, "....when I was a kid." Hell, bud, you're still a kid!
Damn i love this channel! All these sweet cars takes meback to high school up in San Jose with all the hot rods of my school mates and the car clubs! I'm 54 so those kids were getting cars dirt cheap and making some killer sweet cars! I my self had a 67 Chevelle Malibu I bought for $300.00 dollars and a 69 Suburban 4x4 that the school dubbed the blue goose because of the big ole goose decal I had on the rear door! Barn style doors not the fold down door! Love it!
Beautiful SS Nova! Love the lumpy cam, old school all the way. Brings back many memories of my college days when we had tons of fun meeting up and racing outside of town in the early 70s. Miss those days... A fast Street car back then was mid to low 12s in the quarter. Didn’t need some 1500 hp car to have fun.
That's MONEY! Front track is perfect where many of these with wide front tires/wheels tend to look as though the wheels are too far inward of the fender lip line, at least that's my observation. Lol I like to call these 60's colors "grandma blue, green, gold". My grandma had a gold 4dr 71.
Nice ride, only us older men know about what a real car is all about and what to do to make it more manageable and more fun to drive. Unibody construction like today's cars alot can be done to make it more enjoyable than what it was back in the day, yet the car is yesterday's car for today and someone who knows, can enjoy!
I'm glad that I discover this channel. I love the content and the American muscle cars. I like it that you do a interview with the owners and that it is a normal conversation between carguys. I'm from Belgium and whe have here also American muscle cars. Not so many but you see them on car meetings. I see the most American cars in oldtimer meetings. But here are American muscle cars expensive. And whe have here a lot of regulations. I really enjoy the cars and the noise they make. Keep up the good work and stay healthy.
No problem with old school gen I or II SBC's and especially not Big Blocks (God I'd kill for a W-Block 409 '63 Impala, or the infamous '63 Impala Sport Coupe with the Z11, W-Block based, 430hp/575tq, 427ci, 10.8 in the quarter running, tons of aluminum wearing package 😅👌), but there's a reason why the LS and Gen V LT platform are superior, well, many reasons, but you can easily have a 500+ HP LS/LT that gets over 20mpg, and making more power is way simpler than the old stuff unfortunately.... thankfully nowadays, you can have a 500hp+ LS aluminum block and headed engine wearing the correct old school tinwork and programmable EFI on a 4bbl(or more) old school looking intake with the correct air cleaner and you can pop the hood of your classic, and 99% of the people looking, wouldn't be able to tell it was an all aluminum LS making big power..... even if course, replicating the venerable W-Block from a quick glance (I wouldn't be able to bring myself to pull out a 409 or 427 W though, regardless of the benefits of the LS/LT platform, there's some things that need to stay lol)
Its all good til it just dies then you gotta tow it . HEI ignition mech fan water, fuel pump you can be back on the road in no time for peanuts. Dont want to complicate my old car or have to deal with some screen or laptop all the time
@@mckinleymckeehan7511 ain't no way it's 290 that's a stock 290/350 truck engine you buy from jegs It probably exactly what he says it is. Small cam small aluminum heds will get you at least 350 it ain't hard
I was 17 when the 66ss came out 327 350 hp light weight damn quick Mosley cheaters 12 second . lifters took paper clips out for snap rings then set lash at .003 no valve float red line at around 7400 instead of 5800 - 6000 . Now are called anti pump ups.
Great to see a sweet ride with a non LS motor in it.....keep it old school.....as they say...I didn’t build it to beat the shit out of it..I just want to drive it and have fun.
I love the '66 Novas. Better looking front end than a '67. The 1966 doesn't have the black grill mesh in the headlight bezels. The grill is straight across clean like the later model Novas. On my 1966 Nova I painted the grill black and went to the dealer and bought an SS emblem that was made for a 1973 SS Nova and mounted it, looked great.
I forgot to mention when I bought the SS emblem at the dealer the cost was only $2.50, so you can tell it wasn't yesterday. Also I went to the dealer and bought a then available locking gas cap chrome with the keyhole in the center of the Chevy bow tie. To lock the gas cap you pushed in to latch it, no twist. It was exactly made for the Nova because it had the slight curvature to match the quarter panel and when latched it was flush and matched the car body. I wish I could have bought a case of them. Early 1970's time frame.
Wow now that is my kind of automobile I love the body style of the super sport Nova especially the '60s model those are my favorites I don't have nothing against us 70 models Chevy novas but the '60s they look awesome and the power plant I'm glad that it's very drivable but it has a wicked awesome thump to it which I love love the sound love the color really a beautiful and very drivable car thank you for sharing
Love the car suspension color everything. I have a blue 66 ss with a 383 just under 500 go 700 trans 3800 stall 12 bolt rear 373 gears.shes a screamer.i wish I could have your suspension.
I have a 67 SS restomod similar to this but 5 speed manual, 383 stroker, power steering, coil overs, disc brakes, efi, cream interior. Love it but may sell it
I'm definitely a Ford fan but I think if I ever get a Chevy it would be a Nova SS with an oldschool 350 in it. Dont get me wrong the LS is a great engine but its literally everywhere nowadays people are LS swapping everything
There used to be a time when I got tired of seeing small block chevys in every other custom build. These days with LS's being in everything I love seeing the old school small blocks.
Bought myself a 1966 Nova L79 when I graduated high school. One fine sounding machine & could hold it's own against the big blocks.
This car puts a smile on me. after a few weeks long battling covid in & out hospital. 👍🏽
God bless you

Love the short nose! Looks BMWish!!!
I am the same way dude, Ford guy all the way but can't help but like a Chevy ll/ Nova
6-71 on it would be the icing. Beautiful old-school car
In 1986 I was 16 years old & had a '66 hardtop Nova as my first car. Nice!
Same age...rode the bus walked or rode a bike til I was almost 19. Rent kept me from saving anything.
Love those 66 Nova's. This is a clean build.
Sweet restomod. Perfect car. No need to overpower it. Don't love the wide rear tires but I get it
Great hot rod, Nova's are perfect size. Good wheels, color - I wouldn't change a thing!
Cool nova😊
Awesome! Love it that he has a sbc 350 under the hood

I love 66-67 Nova’s. Just pure cool
Beautiful car love the SBC love it
Pretty awesome. Except for the rear axle and wheels not centered in the wells. Love the non LS restomods!
BEAUTIFUL. I HAD a 62 & 67. BOTH had A 350, 62 HAS A M-22 rock, 67 HAS A Borg W T-10 S. & IS AN SS.
Perfect road trip car, just no-fuss driver's car. Perfect setup and great build, will last forever
I love it. It's old school cool. I wouldn't change a thing.
Great car! The stance and the wheels and brake combo look awesome on an other wise pretty stock looking car.
Favorite body style Nova, this car is really well done and looks like a perfect driver!
Love that 66 Nova 👌
A good well thought out, nice looking, combination. I like that the new front suspension gets rid of the shock towers. It keeps the engine bay clean.

I don’t think that there’s a single Chevy guy that will complain about there being a Ford rear end on a Chevy.
Ha. I have a 9" in my Monte Carlo. Strong like Bull
One of the reasons people like chevys is because they're cheap and good. Ford 9" fits that perfectly, no complaints here

Great, well thought out restomod cruiser. Add ~100 HP and it would be perfect.
Yeah, the car doesn't seem to be in the 400hp range at all. More like 290hp from what I can tell. She is a beautiful beast though.

the color is amazing! A small block is a rarity these days, and it's cool to see.
Box Nova coach !!!!!👍🏼🤘🏼
Really, really nice Chevy “twice!” It is just about perfect! Congrats!🇨🇦👍
My favorite GM body style. I know, I’m boring. But it’s small and not terribly heavy. Great platform though
I want the same set-up! 350 Carb engine just w EFI! Around 375/400hp! This dope!
I really miss the old format of the videos but anyway still amazing cars/content in general
Awesome car, that’s my favorite color too.
I LOVE IT!!!! SO SIMPLE, EASY TO BUILD AND QUICK!!!! FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION!!!! Thanks for sharing. You made my night!!! Thank you so much. !!!!

Beautiful Nova. Just love the Gen 1s, especially when they're supercharged. 💪💪
Great to see a sweet ride with a non LS motor in it.....keep it old school.....as they say...I didn’t build it to beat the shit out of it..I just want to drive it and have fun.

Just an FYI, small blocks can achieve well over 10,000rpm, some super short stroked engines can reach 12,000 rpm
