@@jacob9062 Facts. While I lived in Eastern Iowa, my phone did not wake me while a damaging derecho (100-120 mph wind gusts) was approaching back in 2020, but the sirens did wake me. I've never seen damage like it IRL till then.
yeah I am so many reasons sirens are still needed people who do not have phones or weather radios im a huge siren fan but its past that point like some people do not have phones or newer tech
Good. They are old and unreliable. Everyone has phones with weather alerts, and more then half the time people ignore the sirens or go outside to watch the weather when they sound.
@ Jim Scarborough Sirens are way more efficient yeah they're cool and there effective my system has been used since the early 1900s and they never once failed me you can never rely on cell phones what if you don't have data or Internet those weather apps don't WORK
Also not all people can afford electronics. So keeping sirens doesn’t risk lives. Plus, what if the power goes out? Uh oh. No signal, no apps work. Guess you’ll die without sirens
