@@kitcat4512 yes, any live TV even on UA-cam requires a licence, key word being TV, not to be confused with watching a live stream by a streamer/content creator, you are not required to have a licence to watch live streams by your favourite content creator). So if ITV had a live feed of its broadcast on UA-cam or any streaming service, you would need a licence. It’s all in law.
What they will try to do next is blur the lines to get more money and essentially have a media tax… if we allow it to happen.

@@thesaltybrit9321 pretty sure you don't need a licence to watch ITV, it was the BBC that held the patent on the Cathode Ray tube which is what the licence was originally for... operating a piece of licenced kit... now unless they had a 'serial' copyright on the CRT, (serial - all derivatives) then their actual legal reason for charging at all is long past as there are very few CRT TVs left in use... so i am guessing the Government mandated it for another reason and obfuscated why the BBC ever had the right to charge at all...

The tv tax shouldn't be put on council tax bill. As far as i am aware we pay council tax for the services the council provide. They do not provide tv channels

Council tax IS poll tax, but to become 'liable' (i.e. your ALL CAPS name to become liable), you need to do something forbidden - like live inside.

The council tax is extortion as it is, but to be forced to pay a TV BBC licence fee within that is unfair, unreasonable and a con trick. If you don't have TV, you are forced to buy a licence, that is clearly extortion or fascism or both because you have no choice.

Because many people have stopped watching broadcast TV and don't pay the licence fee, this government or the next socialist government will make it a part of council tax or taxpayer funded. That way the BBC can be as anti-white, anti-British working-class hating bigots as they want while still keeping the funding that they use to attack us.

Didn't a politician in recent years claim that it was possible to live on just one great British pound a day? 47p on an opt out BBC tax doesn't leave much to pay for your food, housing, utilities, and travel to the job you're forced to stay in because nobody can afford to pay more than minimum wage anymore, and whilst wages haven't increased in line with inflation, the various taxes we're all forced to pay (often to bail out someone who couldn't manage their own money) or face legal action certainly have.

There's plenty of police officers, but they aren't interested in doing their jobs because it's a lot of paperwork only for the CPS to refuse to pursue it as the most they'd get is a few months suspended.

If it goes on council tax it will be compulsory. But I, for one, would cross theough the TV tax and force the council to pursue me through the courts for a relatively small sum. The councils would never allow this to go through. They would all rebel against it before it could get through parliament.
Put the TV Licence in with your council Tax? well that wouldn't work because I for one would deduct the fee before paying my council tax, and I would be will to go to prison for not paying it.

I like to know how much he is on and indeed what i his expenses are a year -which will invariably include the TV licence (to do his job etc as politicians do. The trouble is that those who can afford to pay do not or indeed claim it back from us.

I think adding BBC funding to the council tax would be a major mistake by any party that introduced it. It shows how out of touch these politicians are with the general public .....
Just take away the license fee and leave it to market forces. The idea we need to pay for a national broadcaster when people are abandoning them for social media, Netflix, Sky and Spotify. It's outdated, let it go.

He doesn't know what he's talking about - it is NOT just a licence to watch the BBC! If you want to watch or record any live broadcast from any TV company you need a licence. And as for adding it to Council Tax - no way! Of course I would 'opt out' and so would most people so my concern would be adding it without being able to opt out and as you are legally compelled to pay Council Tax that would mean heavy fines and possibly prison for not paying the full amount.
Nobody should be paying for the BBC. It should be a service that people who want it should pay for. In other words a subscription channel. I won't bother with it after so many inaccurate biased reports on various things. I don't want to pay for propaganda and that's all it is.

TV is not something I watch, so why should it be included in Council Tax? In addition to the biased narratives that the BBC news puts out and only reports on certain stories that fit in with the narrative, I don't watch television because most of the stuff on it isn't worth the TV License fee. It has been 9 years since I stopped watching and I am proud of myself.

1. No watching or downloading BBC programmes on iPlayer.
2. No watching or recording live TV on any channel, not just BBC.
3. No watching or recording live TV from paid-for TV services like Sky, Virgin Media or BT.
4. No watching or streaming live TV shows from online TV services like ITV Hub, All 4, Amazon Prime Video, or UA-cam.
This applies to any device, including a TV, computer, laptop, mobile phone, tablet games console, digital box or DVD/VHS recorder.
If they add any TV Tax / Licence Fee to people's Council Tax then there needs to be a revolt. That would be a line drawn in the sand as far as i'm concerned.

I don't watch TV, I literally find everything I want to watch on UA-cam. TV is finished. Also, most things are digital, the BBC should be charging people based on a subscription just like you watch Netflix, Sky, Amazon or Disney. TV is no longer about an ariel and everyone can pick up that signal, you can't. The BBC sells its products around the world, it has additional channels like Dave that come with adverts and it is a propaganda bias channel, it really shouldn't be taking anything. Let people decide if they want to pay to watch it just like they have to do with Netflix.

I totally disagree with the idea of paying more Council tax by including TV in it. I have not had a TV licence for the last few years. I do not need a TV licence as I do not watch live broadcasts or BBC iPlayer. I watch ITVX, Amazon Prime, Netflix and UA-cam. I could afford a TV licence but I object to the woke, left wing bias of the BBC, and the careless way it wastes money in many ways, including the exorbitant salaries it pays to some of its presenters. The thing I really want to hear is that the TV licence will become the BBC licence - in other words that you only need this licence in order to watch BBC programmes. The BBC should be more open and honest about the fact that you do not need a licence to watch streaming services. The way their threatening letters are very deceptive in the message they convey and many people pay for a TV licence because they think it is illegal if they do not have one.
