    I did not find the simple at all, perhaps next time you get a gate made you need to check that grandmothers can put them together as well

    This was useful - I thought our gate must be missing a part but it's that the screw forces the steel "gatepost" through a ten-degree (or so) angle until it meets the lock. I'm not sure I like this from an engineering point of view as all that force is going straight into the doorframe at one point. How these should work is that houses's doors and stair-tops should all have a standard mounting bracket and the gates all bolt into them. All this pressure is so they can be held in by friction, rather than doing the obvious and drilling a couple of, what, 20mm holes. Thing is, people might then realise they can make their own perfectly good stairgates with spare kitchen cupboard doors and a £2 hinge.

    Can't agree more...not simple at all...instead of trying to sell it being quick;give more instructions and be more honest
