Howard has to hold the microphone still cause technicians have not tightened it up properly And he still kicks ass playing keyboards one handed and does a grand performance that absolutely flawless And it shows what an amazing keyboard player he is The best keyboard player in my opinion absolute legend
Mick is the best ever bass player! Great fan since 1980. Met him in 1982 and visited him personally a couple of times, used to live round the corner from him. Those were the days!
Thanks so much for sharing this!! I did very detailed research on this & came up with the following for every musician onstage here (yes, I had too much time on my hands!!): Howard Jones - keys, vox Midge Ure All Star Band- Brian May - lead guitar Midge Ure - rhythm guitar, md Mick Karn - bass Phil Collins - drums Mark "the Octopus" Brzezicki - drums Gillian O'Donovan - b.vox Suzie O'List - b.vox Gary Barnacle - tenor saxophone Barry Gardner - flugelhorn John Thirkell - trumpet Luke Tunney - trumpet Pete Thoms - trombone
Great. Such a pity the editor never picked out Mick Karn whacking that bass. I would have loved seeing his fingers during Brian May's solo. He's absolutely fantastic.
"mark brzezicki on drums with phil...remember big country? on drums with phil...remember big country?" we DO!!! mark brzezicki played with the Big Guys!!!!
+framax67 is it just me or does he not look like a funkier version of PETER DAVISON Dr who #4 !? great rendition when the BRITS were at their prime of musical creativity!!
I liked this video clip. To see Brian May, Midge Ure (wow, is that a blast from the past, eh?), Phil Collins and Howard Jones all jamming together. I don't know the others mentioned, but seeing those four together was really cool.
I can tell you the line up Wet wet wet / sweet little mystery Joe cocker / with a little help from mutt friends with joe cocker Black / its a wonderful life Elton john / i don't wanna go on with you like that Peter gabriel / sledgehammer Rick astley / never gonna give you up Mark knophler / money for nothing T/pau / heart and soul Leonard cohen / cant remember song he did might be everybody knows not sure Bee gees / you win again Eric clapton / layla Phil collins / you cant hurry love Midge ure / vienna Brian may
Yes this is great, I recoded the concert on video in 1988 to see Mark and Eric who were of course the main stars "The Eric Clapton all stars" with Elton, Howard Jones, Peter Gabriel and Joe Cocker were great aswell. I love this song, and the 2 drummer break down, real horns etc.
There has never been a better time than the 80's. Stars were stars, often extremely talented musicians and songwriters, with their own style and look. Look at the Prince's trust type concerts from the 90's and 00's, what have we got, Blazing squad, Cheeky girls, S club 7, big Brovvers, so solid crew, Sophie Ellis Bexter, Lily Allen, it makes me sick.
Thanks for the info! I didn't know. But now I know I've heard Sam's hit Stop (1988) many times. Apparently Vicki died in 1991, and Sam's daughter born in 1993 also was named Vicki.
@Yogiphildas I beg to differ, my brother. I own just about every Big Country album produced, both live and studio. If you want to hear soul and fire along with passion, take a listen to those compositions. Don't get me wrong, Phil is quite respectful, but Mark holds the real talent.
You're wrong, that's Pino on bass, not Mick. I believe Mick played guitar on Sledgehammer, but other than that, all bass work is done by Pino - can't you tell by that fretless sound?
Are you sure Pino is on stage? If I couldn't see Mick Karn, I would have guessed it was Pino from the sound. But Mick and Pino can have similar styles at times. I know Mick is up there, I recognize his fretless Wal bass. Is Pino playing another instrument instead of bass perhaps?
OK, I've watched this a few times now, and I'm not seeing Pino Palladino. Mick Karn, yes... but not Pino. Added to which, I'm only hearing one bass player. Unless Pino is playing one of the horns, I'm betting he's not in this video.
Ok, I'm not the best one to judge if he's there or not :) , but someone said he's next to Brian May at 3:38... But if he's not there, I'll remove his name from here. Thanks for looking and commenting! :)
Hey,baramartin, thanks for the video.I have to say,the female backing singers, they suck. But other wise a lot of talent on stage.I always think Prince's Trust concerts have really good sound, but you're right they never do get those mike stands locked down(if they do,not where the performers need them)
regarding whether or not Pino Palladino is on this- I dont seem to see him either- the gent standing next to may at 3:38 is Mick Karn- that Wal bass he is playing is one give away- he also has somewhat of a distinctive look about his eyes and forehead- kind of zombie like (no offense intended here- just observation) kind of like early bowie-ish if you know what I mean (I am not describing it well here)- anyway- that is def. Mick Karn.
Viki Brown is there but i dont think thats Sam. The other woman is far too old! Check out Pink Floyd at knebworth 1990 to see Sam and Viki do backing vocals. I could be wrong but that just doesnt look like Sam.
Never in my life did I think I would see Brian soloing over this song!!
So cool
Me too!♥️
Verdade toca de mais

Phil's drumming just dominates. I love it !
Bass player was enjoying it a lot!
Thanks so much for sharing this!!
I did very detailed research on this & came up with the following for every musician onstage here (yes, I had too much time on my hands!!):
Howard Jones - keys, vox
Midge Ure All Star Band-
Brian May - lead guitar
Midge Ure - rhythm guitar, md
Mick Karn - bass
Phil Collins - drums
Mark "the Octopus" Brzezicki - drums
Gillian O'Donovan - b.vox
Suzie O'List - b.vox
Gary Barnacle - tenor saxophone
Barry Gardner - flugelhorn
John Thirkell - trumpet
Luke Tunney - trumpet
Pete Thoms - trombone
I'm pretty sure the background singers on this video are (mother) Vicki Brown and (daughter) Sam Brown.
I stand corrected, Bill. You're correct about the background singers.
never mind all the rest, just listen to the man mick karn
Waow, fantastic ! it's a pleasure to listen to Howard Jones with real musicians and not only machines as usually !
Great. Such a pity the editor never picked out Mick Karn whacking that bass. I would have loved seeing his fingers during Brian May's solo. He's absolutely fantastic.
Yep, that was our good old Mick, RIP.
Great performance of a great song. Cool lyrics, a groove that totally rocks and extremely talented musicians. What more could you want?
Phil Collins and Howard Jones are both my favorit music artests of all time. And to sse them both on stage is amazing. Wish I was there.
Absolutely brilliant the talent on that stage is pure talent. Today's singers take a look and see how it's done properly

He looks like a better peter sitera chicargo Leed singer
Lots of talent on that stage
Absolutely amazing ❤❤❤
so many talented people on one stage
I liked this video clip. To see Brian May, Midge Ure (wow, is that a blast from the past, eh?), Phil Collins and Howard Jones all jamming together. I don't know the others mentioned, but seeing those four together was really cool.

wow an already great song featuring the best drummer ever
Absolutely amazing performance, Howard rocks!... and so talented stage. Wish i was there.
That's Mick Karn on the bass.
Yes Howard Jones is a legend
Anybody can recognise Mick's skills on bass!
A song you didn't think needed a solo but now does. Lol
Ok, thanks for clearing this up - once and for all! :)
Brian May on guitar adding a lick to WIL. Top Stuff thanks.

No, I stand corrected, that is Mick Karn - incidently both are fretless bassists!
Thanxs!!!
waooooo・・・
Midge Ure! Mick Karn! Steve Jansen!
and・・・・・・・・Brian May! what a hell!!!!
Gosh! Wish he'd been on our side!
Thanks for the info! I didn't know. But now I know I've heard Sam's hit Stop (1988) many times. Apparently Vicki died in 1991, and Sam's daughter born in 1993 also was named Vicki.
That guitar solo sounds epic holy shit
unbelievable ....
Pino sick as always!
That’s definitely not Pino. Definitely looks like Mick Karn.
Brilliant !!!
The ORIGINAL HOWARD THE DUCK!!! And yes it's very high praise!!!
Its Mick Karn
Great Vid!
LOL sorry about that! But you found it anyway, yes? ;) The mistake has now been corrected. Thanks!
I wish Brian May would play guitar on my song. I guess I should write one huh?
3.26 Phil gets a wee bit of In The Air Tonight in there
@Yogiphildas I beg to differ, my brother. I own just about every Big Country album produced, both live and studio. If you want to hear soul and fire along with passion, take a listen to those compositions. Don't get me wrong, Phil is quite respectful, but Mark holds the real talent.

Howard Jones 👏 just fan 🥰
Freaking wow!

@luthier67 Mick Karn for defo - I think he waxed or shaved his eyebrows at one time which added to his general weirdness.
These songs sound better with real drums.
the million dollars band !!!
@jumpinjojo Is 'blows' good? Because Phil is brilliant drummer. Great personality on the drums - though not as schooled as Mark Brzzesckzzisz
OK, I've watched this a few times now, and I'm not seeing Pino Palladino. Mick Karn, yes... but not Pino.
Added to which, I'm only hearing one bass player.
Unless Pino is playing one of the horns, I'm betting he's not in this video.
Stevie san, where??? Cannot see him, only Mick!
in 1985 had better hair, buuu! But still have this fantastic voice, that's in plus:)
Ok, I'm not the best one to judge if he's there or not :) , but someone said he's next to Brian May at 3:38... But if he's not there, I'll remove his name from here.
Thanks for looking and commenting! :)
That’s definitely Mick.
Brian toca de mais
Yes AGREE his soloing does NOT really blend in w/ the song....
Not enough imo
agreed.
Esse guitarrista e o da banda quente?

Hey Guys it is Mick Karn. Don't you know the man?
Me thinks the backing vocalists weren't hired for their voices somehow...
poor howard had to hold on to that mic, no roadie around to fix it !!! what the hell !!! otherwise, great performance !!
Yes and still did an absolutely grand performance doing keyboards one handed shows what a keyboard master he truly is
I agree with you. I think Jones would've done just fine without them.
It is great, but don't overdo it mate! ;-)
:)
Even I like this song, I Don't know why May plays there...
@aiyic No "blows" is not good. I find his style very generic and all too easy to identify.
howard looks same age as now
Good jeans bro

@@FlowerShopGuy нет сектор газа круче!
haha, yeah, they should've done their job better, lol!
Phil blows on the skins! Mark Brzezicki (Big Country) is far more versatile and skilled.
Mark Brzezicki on the skins!! Makes Phildo Collins look like a washed up drummer for a High School marching band !!
someone's out of tune
NOPE!
bass doesnt fit
Sounds typical Mick Karn tune to me. It fits but is unique.
how in the name of god does Mick Karn get that seriously FAT tone on a fretless..
