Metal builds are made for the Hot Toys/Figma/Figuarts crowd. There's a lot of figure collectors that just don't like building models, although they're a rarity in the gundam fandom.
EDIT: That console vs PC analogy was the most dead-on figure vs kit comparison I've ever head.

I own a few metal builds, 1/100 Steel Legend Kshatriya, 1/72 Moshow Aile and 1/72 Moshow Hurricane. They look amazing, but you basically take them out of the box, pose them and put them on the shelf. That's the end of it. There's no project, no experience to build up anticipation for the finished product. It's just done. I love my metal builds, but they're like a really good one night stand when compared to kits, which are like a relationship.

@@GerardusWicaksono That 1/72 Devil Destiny looks amazing, I've been considering getting one myself. Both the Kshatriya and Hurricane are excellent metal builds with good articulation and flawless decal work. The only thing I'll warn you about is both kits are extremely tight, particularly the Kshatriya. I struggled for a while trying to assemble its shoulders but once it was put together it's very good at holding a pose. Also if you get the Hurricane, they sell a 1/72 sword and 1/72 buster cannon that goes with it, made by the same company. Overall if you like large metal builds, I'd recommend both kits.

Never got into the metal builds myself either. I enjoy building and painting as well so the money for metal build seems unreasonable.
Also you could've painted this way better yourself tbh papaG. The bazookas look fucking badass though

A Tallgeese III build would be cool. I started with the Gundam Wing series and Heavy Arms was one of my favorite gundams.
This kinda reminds of the first gen Transformers toys from the 80's that mixed die-cast and plastic. Model kits are for people that enjoy the journey and metal frames are for the ones that prefer the destination

A sinaju can be milked for 3 more kits . Full frontal Sinaju, sinanju stein, and sinanju stein NT.... Possibly the Sinaju with the Gundam head.
Speaking of PG's, I always looked past it because of it's age but the PG Zeta is friggin awesome. If I ever get the chance to pull the trigger on one, I'm getting it. And I don't even really like the Zeta. They went all out on that one.
The market is for people like me, Gundam fans who used to build gunpla but don't have enough free time any more. I appreciate the craft and design, can swallow the relatively high price point and get a nicely built well detailed figure to pose. IMO the blue frame is the worst metal build in the entire series, not great articulation and a bit plasticky finish throughout. That's why it did not sell very well.

I think what's missing that you're looking for is the fact you didn't spend anytime putting your personality into the paint, style ,etc. So you don't care about it
A PG Sinanju would solve all my problems. Sazabi or Nu would do. That $900 Nu seems like a 1/60 scale Metal Build. As in, probably not worth half the price to me. Why would I want a Gunpla I can't buid and paint? I don't need toys.

I hate the resale collector's market. Buying shit to keep in a box to sell later is so wrong. Just take good care of your shit and you can still sell it later for decent money if you end up needing to.

These are nice and all but I haven't seen anything that has fully sold me on this line of figures except for maybe the Evangelions but jesus christ those sell out fast and the after market prices for them are ridiculous. Also i'd prefer metal build figures of gundams from the universal century but sadly the first metal build of the universal century is literally $1000 and sold out.
The first UC metal build is the F91, they should be not too hard to find and not super expensive either?
The mode kits don’t have the articulation the metal builds have. And they look better and with much better materials. My pg axia and red frame astray both have nothing on my metal builds. They are fun to build but they aren’t really a collectors thing. More a hobby. Metal builds are more for a high end collector.
When it's "Metal Build" I think of Super robot more that Gundam

Ironically I have that one. Maybe I'll review it if you want to see it. personally the Strike and crossbone gundam are the only ones that look cool to me. If I had to choose one it would be cross bone all day.
@@ItsAGunpla that would be awesome. I know you're not really into the smaller kits but they released a really awesome crossbone Gundam x-1 real grade. Universal Century timeline is my favorite. I love the Pale Rider unit 1, Zeta Gundam, and Zaku 2 high mobility type. I think you'd enjoy the 8th Ms team story. Love your videos and your paint jobs. I can't wait to see your next one.
I do Gunpla and they are not even close to as good as a metal build figure. The articulation and build are so much better. Yeah you can paint a Gunpla but they still come off as feeling more cheap. I love building them but they aren’t worth the money.

Metal build are built to last & to be fiddled with, not gonna put all that intricate paint job on a product meant to be played with
And heavy or intricate paint job require an actual background or diorama to actually look good, nobody can pay anymore for that, not in mainstream anyway
Expect metal structure nu gundam to have this much of quality, you'll have a durable easy to play "toy"

Do you accept the quality of paint job on your Formania FX Nu Gundam? If so, you will love Metal Build more if you review other kits. I would say it's unfortunate you review Metal Build Blue Frame as your first Metal Build kit. IMO MB Freedom, MB Red Frame, and MB Blue Frame are the worst Metal Build kits ever. Even if it's just an alternative version such as Metal Build Gold Frame you would give it more credit.

Lol, pretty funny of Gundam to lament that a toy figure is a toy but Gunpla Kits aren't toys some how. To normal people, it's all toys for children. Come out of the closet Gundam, and let's play with our robot toys.
Looks boring. If its not custom painted, its really not worth looking at. That said, i watched the whole video because i enjoy your content.
I'm probably an outlier in this opinion, but while i haven't built a gundpla kit i would almost certainly glue all the limbs in a single position and keep it in a single pose, treat it like a large figure.
My theory is that parts that move are parts that break. Especially if someone else might touch it.
