thank you Rush, the Galileo Galilei is part of my childhood, one of those memories that stays forever in my heart, my family took it three times in 1965, I was 10yrs old then in 1969 and 1972 up and down between naples and sydney ......."feel like I was sitting next the pool watching the party .when you cross the equator" thank you again ciao, alfredo
took it 3 times in 65/ 69/ and 72 from from Italy to australia then back and then again , last time I was 17 and the memories are still so vivid (60 now) , still can " smell" the smell of salt , sea and gasoline on the decks.............anyone else does?
+Wealth On A String I was on that ship too, that year. I was instructing skiing in Mt. Buller Victoria. I came from the French Alps. We sailed from Genoa, Italy on May 1971 and our journey was plagued with a 3-day crew strike in each port of call. We made it to Melbourne mid July...
How great to see this..we came back from Freemantle Australia leaving in April 1973..and had a lovely trip back from there via New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti, Acapulco, Panama Canal,Curiacio, across to Lisbon (Portugal, Malaga (Spain), Malta, Messina (Sicily) and Finally Naples and the Genoa..We had a brilliant time with our daughters aged 6 and 9..and the crew were so nice and attentive to us..We were all sad to hear that she had sunk..Great Memories and thank you who ever you are for posting this on You Tube...There is quite a bit of information about this ship on line and in some of the info you can get the passenger lists as well.
We sailed on her when she was the GALILEO with Chandris Celebrity Cruises in July 1987. As I watch this video, it's amazing, just thinking that I would be on those decks as a passenger/travel agent 18 years later.
