I have to admit this has been the most discussed video I have ever done on the channel. I never would have thought intellivision and the amico would be a big topic to discuss. Wow keep the comments coming and I probably chime in at times
The plan was to create the basis for the game console, initial launch titles and ecosystem, then sell it to a larger company which would finish the manufacturing and distribution... they had no intent to release the thing themselves... but when a buyer could not be found they attempted to launch it... but with no actual plans to do so and dwindling 'warchest', they could not. Not exactly a scam, but a company run on a bunch of hopium.
True, but I Also think it could have been done, if Tommy Tellarico wasn't focusing on attacking anyone who talked bad about it no matter the size of the channel
no it was a scam. maybe if they didn't lie on investing videos or how much of the system was done when it wasn't you would be right. this thing was a scam of how much investing money can we suck and burn it
I attended an Amico event in Irvine CA a few years ago. There were at least 4 consoles there, each hooked to a screen with a game running which we were encouraged to play. The games seemed fine albeit beta versions that were still being tweaked. However - there was no "Amico OS" being shown so whatever they had developed at that point must not have been suitable for public consumption. The consoles were cool looking - exactly as pictured. The controllers were more bulky than I expected (and not in a bad way) but seemed to work well. There were Amico staff including programmers on hand to talk with, and they were getting a lot of photos and testimonials for future marketing. It was a positive experience. Other people I encountered there were Intellivision enthusiasts and were psyched. I left that event with high hopes. Too bad this project hit so many issues.
I like these old 1981 Intellivision games better than the amico. Which is nothing more than 2005 shovel ware non sense. No one in their right mind would pay _$300_ for that
At first I didn't like using my phone to play the new Intellivision Games on Amico Home. And agreed that OG was still better. But after I added a stick on directional disk to my phone my mind was blown how good it is. Most of the games released on Amico Home are still in Beta testing so I agree they need some more polish. Nobody needs to pay $300 to play Amico anymore. Amico Home is way cheaper. It runs on many other consoles like Amazon Fire Sticks and Android boxes so many people already own the needed hardware.
@@ProfessorRetro1976 Actually Amico is on the Play Store and Amazon store right now. via Amico Home. They have a bunch of good games out already that are getting good reviews.
@@ProfessorRetro1976 The stick on directional pads for phones are under $10. And most people already have phones. I found installing the Amico Home App onto a phone easier then syncing a Wii remote. Ya I hope Intellivision makes a official stick on directional disc for phones. Since ordering one from a 3rd party can get mixed quality results. Some stick on discs I tested are really good others are cheaply made.
In a recent comment, Alvarado straight up admitted that many of the games that were promised to launch with the system. four years ago, are nowhere near finished. The kicker is that he also admits that they do not have the people or the money to finish them. So whatever isn't already mostly ready to compile, is never coming out.
The 10 rules to make games for the Amico is a joke. Game developers I would think would not even give it a look except for the ones who make app games for phones. They should of made a Fisher Price console instead of an Intellivision console. That would match those 10 rules to a tee!
I know it was a scam. I know it wasn’t a very impressive console and overpriced. But…. Dang it. I want to have one so bad. I was looking forward to playing it with my kids. Such a sad tale. Great video though. *subscribed* 😊
You really glazed over Tommy's history and positive impact on the gaming industry. He did the revolutionary sound design for the Earthworm Jim series, founded G.A.N.G. which represents and protects gaming musicians in the industry, was the very first person to get actual real instruments recorded for a video game, which was Terminator on Sega CD, among a host of other industry contributions.
@@SomeOrangeCat I think you may have confused Tommy Tallarico the person with Tommy Tallarico Studios the company. When you work under a studio, the Studio owns the material. And Tommy owns the Studio. So he can claim anything his Studio produces as his. Perfectly normal, common and legal behavior.

I'm fairly certain three of those four consoles were the ones that got sent out to the three UA-camrs who kissed Phil and John's butts the most.
