Netrebko a peut etre quelques petits defauts, mais sa presence sur scene, son talent d'actrice,son "charisme", sa beauté,son chant merveilleux donne des tonnes d'emotion a des millions de fans et beaucoup decouvre la beauté de l'opera grace a cette diva, les autres sopranos se contentent de milliers de mellomanes fanatiques de la note ecrite sur le papier, vraiment je les plains.

I think this version of la traviata is wonderful. It's going to be an historical performance. I found the simple decore very beautiful. I don't understand why people are conservative about this.
I completely agree, she's acting as well as singing and the vibrato and slight weakness is a strength to her version as opposed to a weakness. She does this aria wonderfully and credibly.
I love an opulent traditional staging, but when contemporary staging and direction truly serves the music and the libretto (as is also the case with Robert Wilson's Parsifal) I am won over completely - especially here w/ opera's premier duo ! Brava Angela ! Bravo Rolando !

Opera is a wide range of interpretations. The comparisons and “who’s best” are subjective, and are irrelevant. If you want to see the unique and spectacular feminine power she can bring to the opera stage watch her take the audience into the palm of her hand with wit, fun, charm, sex appeal, beautiful of voice and form, and gypsy dancing: Meine Lippen, sie küssen so heiss, Anna Netrebko, live at the proms.

Well, she looks fantastic and she sounds very decent. The problem is that people expect her to sound as good as she looks... and THAT would be off the charts in the opera world. I do agree with your comments 2 and 4. Visually it is stunning, but is this La Traviata?
Me gusta como canta Anna y aprecio su belleza física. No así Villazon, cuya voz y exagerado histrionismo me desagradan. Opino que esta supuesta actualización de la obra, incluyendo momentos de juego un tanto inmaduro , disminuyen el dramatismo romántico que es esencial en la obra.
please stop discussing which soprano is the best. That's not what music is about. Music is about something much much deeper. Especially opera goes very deep. It's really not good and not cool to sit and discuss best actresses and best singers here on youtube. All of these singers have different interpretations so enjoy the variations because that's what music is about - searching inside yourself and feel the music that goes thorugh your ears!

Erm...singers have managed to convey Violetta's illness WITHOUT gasping for breath. (Netrebko's legato line has always been choppy and she always breathes at the wrong places) Listen to Callas, Ponselle, Zeani, Cotrubas...none of them needed such artificial tricks.
Netrebko isn't a belcanto singer, her sound isn't sparkling, her diction is bad, i think it's because of russian vocal school where the aim of studying is a solid, opened sound, where they don't pay much attention to the language, especially foreign, that's why i can't distinguish words when Anna sings italian arias, her vowels are russian not italian, in my opinion it doesn't suit italian opera. I think her acting in Traviata is great & visually she's a perfect Violetta.

Ivanova is better in belcanto but in this piece she cannot really convince me.
There seems to be a lot of singing that imitates people in mental institutions. This is supposed to be acting but it's really just gimicky

Sorry, but she is maybe good, but not that good. She is on averageand her perfomance not but standard. Nothing exceptionally.
