@@Kinoptico There's certainly a lot in there, true! I am planning on updating the demo videos soon, so that should help walk people through all the capability. The V3.0 profiles also have a Custom page and a Show page - these are designed so you can copy often used buttons from other parts of the profile on to these pages so that all your most commonly used functions are found in one place. Given that many people are multi-tasking between presenting and operating, it's best to pre-program as much of your show ahead of time as possible. So...don't feel the pressure to have to learn everything at once!
Trying to have guests on my live stream. I have the Atem set up and all the software installed but I have never used the DVE presets. I just tried using them and I can't get them to work. When I try the circle for example I just get these random gradient fades between the sources. What I want to do is have the Zoom call on my Mackbook and send that top the Atem and then split screen with the main camera.
@@davidjoshuaford I have not, at least not knowingly. Do I just re run your installation process for the various parts of the control software setup? Will I then also need to re install my custom macros? I had to edit the XML file to do that last time. I am going to get Ver 3 soon anyway so I may wait and just do it all at once to save some ballache here.
V3 has new macro layouts, so needs to be reinstalled. As mentioned in other comments, it won’t overwrite slots 1-12 or 89-100, so use that for your own custom macros.
WOW, I just smashed the Like Button like 10x. So I'm not 100% sure if what I'm looking at doing can be done, but I guess it could. I could try and pitch my church on purchasing ATEM Extreme Pro ISO for the extra inputs, but I don't think I'm going to get them to bite on that. I understand the Fill and Key on the ATEM, and I know ProPresenter, and EasyWorship is similar in some ways. We currently have Easy Worship, and I'm looking to do a setup with ATEM Mini Pro ISO. I want to have 3-PTZ cameras feeding inputs 1-3, and then 1-HDMI Input (No. 4) from the Computer. I want to do both Fill and Key on that input. Could I use a StreamDeck and create macro buttons that would switch my output display type from PC, then the input type on ATM back and forth between Fill and Key? I want to do Lower-Thirds lyrics over the LiveStream video, and then Switch to Full Screen for Announcements, or Videos we may play during the service, so they are on the LiveStream as well. I want to be able to stream from the ATEM to Restream.io Does this sound Possible?
Hello, I am trying to place cameras 1 and 2 in 2 circular areas in a tga or png image in Atem mini television HD, but I could not do it, or is it not possible to do such a thing?
Hi there, you need to select the cameras as input on the Upstream Key to resize and place them, and then put the PNG image in the Downstream key with the cutout for the cameras - assuming you are trying to place cameras behind the PNG image.
You must have spent many, many hours making these layouts and buttons. Thank you so much for sharing with us! Will you make a new layout for the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO? Please!
This incredibly inspiring, thank you. I tried to replicate the setting but I still find that it requires a second person to do the video production. It would be nice if the flow is automated in someways or organized by scenes with OBS, so you can just switch scenes and you don’t have to click each time in the stream deck. Can this setting be incorporated with OBS?
Hey - there is an OBS module within Companion, so you can certainly add to this DJF Companion Profile. Video production is certainly much easier when you have more than one person. If running solo, you could create custom Companion buttons to trigger different stages in your show.
Companion with mac mini M1 it does not switch to internal other pages. I means when i press key on the homepage nothing happens. I use it as companion buttons on the streamdeck software. When i use just companion it works. On my macbook pro 2015 it all works fine together. Do you have a guess what is happening. Besides thank you for this impressive work you have put into this controls. It makes live easier.
Sounds like it may be a conflict with the native Elgato Stream Deck software, since you can run companion solo on the M1. Might need to wait for Elgato to update SD for the M1. Just a guess.
This video and work is awesome, just upgraded to the extreme iso, would love a file that has supersource options too. Are you likely to have a iso extreme option ? From Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
I use Doug Johnson's solution for animating SuperSource layouts using an X Key pad and JustMacros. You think this system will run at the same time? Can the ATEM take multiple macro calls from different devices?
Your are a crazy man!!! Thanks so much for your work and sharing this!! One question: I can't make the audio fader funktion work (page 9 with the + and -) Switching Audio on and off works, but not the fader. Any basic setting I forgot about...?
Pleased allow me to add my thanks for all the hard work you've put into this & your generosity in sharing it with us! Would you mind sharing your chroma key setup & settings for the ATEM Mini Pro, as well? Thanks again!
Hi Roland, it’s just two 1x1 flex led lights at 45° either side, and a top led panel above. It’s not a perfect key by any means, but is convenient to have permanently rigged by the desk. And then press the Pick Chroma button as described in the Palettes chapter of this video. It you select Save Startup State from the File menu in the ATEM software, it will recall the green screen setting when you reboot.
@@davidjoshuaford - I saw in this video that your chroma key settings are identical to mine - 100% key edge, 0% for background & foreground. Do background & foreground have any actual use? I've not yet found one for them, heh. I also noticed that you selected a darker area for your chroma sample. I tend to select the area where my head will be in the frame, & physically move out of the way when pulling the key. Can you comment on the rationale behind picking a darker patch? Thanks again!
@@RolandDobbins Foreground and background you can trim a bit, but they start clipping pretty quickly. The greenscreen in the office is pretty rough and ready - for a proper job I'd light it consistently. But for this purpose, I found pulling a key from the darker area also works in removing the brighter area, where as keying a point in the brighter area leaves noise in the shadows.
This is amazing and generous. But am I the only one who is thinking this would be better and easier to use buildt in OBS? What benefits does this have over a reasonably powered PC with obs and some way of getting the camera as an input? I can imagine a hybrid solution where you can power the greenscreening and camera managment in the Atem and controll the layout and other elements in OBS. Combining the controls with companion and steam deck. Again. Very generous and inspiring to see.don't get me wrong.
Hi Glenn, Are you talking about the H2R graphics part, or the VLC part? You could take an ATEM's multicamera program out and use OBS downstream to overlay graphics but I've always gone the route of relying on hardware for the encoding rather than a computer, hence sending it into the ATEM for mixing/encoding/livestreaming.
Color Bars are not typically put to air, but they’re used as a calibration and reference monitor when setting up, or if you want to send a test signal.
@@davidjoshuaford man thank you. No one ever answers that. I notice that everyone has it in their sources, almost always in Vmix OBS ETC. I guess it's so their tests aren't then looking goofy into a camera LOL. Thanks!
You’re welcome! It can also help to test that your program feed is connected while you’re setting up your cameras and don’t have any picture out yet. Same goes for the 1khz audio tone to test that you have a signal.
Great demo! Is there a way to program a button to cycle through a list of commands or buttons? For example, set up a button to assign CAM1 to Key1, the second press of the button to assign CAM2 to Key 1, the third press to assign CAM3 to Key1, and so on. That can be useful to move a flying key into different predefine positions on the screen too. Toggle down/up only allows for 2 actions, if there is a way to allow for 4 or more actions will make is very useful. I was thinking of setting up Page 1 Key 10 as the "cycle through" key. Then Page 1 Key 11 through Key 14 are the actual keys with the actions. The first press of P1K10, it will execute P1K11, then P1K11 will assigns P1K10 to execute P1K12 on the next key press. Then the next press of P1K10, P1K12 will reassign P1K10 to execute P1K13, and so on. But I can't find a find to make a key assign the action on another key. Thanks!
@@davidjoshuaford Thanks for the quick response. I have implemented this workaround and it works. I would still think a single/each click to cycle through a list of actions would be easier to control. Maybe that can be an enhancement request for a stateful action in Companion.

Glad you could adapt this for your QLab workflow!

Ya know, I watched this video, and realized it was nothing but a giant advertisement to your companion profiles you are selling - you should really update the page text in description to mention that the companion profiles you mention ARE NOT AVAILABLE anymore, instead, it's a straight promotion for your new $90.00 profile. Bad form, sir.
Hi Dave, apologies if this was unclear and taking up your time. This whole project has grown and morphed over time. The features outlined here were available for 6 months, and thousands of people did in fact download them for free. As the Companion app continued to be updated, I put more time into making the profiles comprehensive, and changed the project to be a paid download to support the efforts. I do plan to produce updated videos on this topic when I get the time, but for now these videos still demonstrate many of the profile functions. The link still leads to a free trial version which enables people to download a 1-page switcher version and try out the Companion modules. I'll make sure to clarify that in the description. Thank you for taking the time to convey your feelings and feedback!

Have you “restored” the ATEM Macro files?
@@davidjoshuaford I have not, at least not knowingly. Do I just re run your installation process for the various parts of the control software setup? Will I then also need to re install my custom macros? I had to edit the XML file to do that last time. I am going to get Ver 3 soon anyway so I may wait and just do it all at once to save some ballache here.
V3 has new macro layouts, so needs to be reinstalled. As mentioned in other comments, it won’t overwrite slots 1-12 or 89-100, so use that for your own custom macros.
@@davidjoshuafordSweet as, consider me sold! Happy new year!
I want to be able to stream from the ATEM to Restream.io
Does this sound Possible?
Hi David was the vlc videos from a different computer and connected by HDMI as I noticed you were using camera 4 for the profile
Hi David, all from the one computer in this set up. The Mac is set to input on HDMI 4 for VLC, and H2R Graphics and Google Slides.
Please!
If I end up buying one I will... (or if I'm sent one)! I'll wait and see the reviews first.
Amazing!!
Thanks!!
@@davidjoshuaford Thank you
As a vlogger, I need a beginner version of this with fewer (outlier) options to ease the learning curve. Does that exist anywhere?
There’s a free 1 page switcher on my website. It will get you started understanding Companion and the ATEM module.
Hello David I need help with audio fader/gain +/- buttons setup. Somehow buttons are not doing anything. Can u help setting up manually.
Hi there - sounds like you're running 2.1.2.... this set up needs Companion 2.2.0.
This video and work is awesome, just upgraded to the extreme iso, would love a file that has supersource options too. Are you likely to have a iso extreme option ? From Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Yep, working on the Extreme at the moment! I’ll email my newsletter subscribers when it’s ready.
I use Doug Johnson's solution for animating SuperSource layouts using an X Key pad and JustMacros. You think this system will run at the same time? Can the ATEM take multiple macro calls from different devices?
Hi James, they should be able to run simultaneously - you'd just need to find vacancy within the 100 macro slots available on the ATEM.
Your are a crazy man!!! Thanks so much for your work and sharing this!! One question: I can't make the audio fader funktion work (page 9 with the + and -) Switching Audio on and off works, but not the fader. Any basic setting I forgot about...?
Are you running a recent build of companion 2.2.0? Some of those audio level functions were only added in later builds.
@@davidjoshuaford ok, I'm running 2.1.2. Thanks a lot!
Could you send me a link to download companion for my stream Deck.
Yep- bitfocus.io
What is the purpose of including Color Bars?
Thanks!
I would achieve this via a long press which cycles through different options. See the BLK button (page 1, button 30) for an example of 4 options.
@@davidjoshuaford Thanks for the quick response. I have implemented this workaround and it works. I would still think a single/each click to cycle through a list of actions would be easier to control. Maybe that can be an enhancement request for a stateful action in Companion.
Fantastic work. But my AUTO button does not work. Lights red when pressing AUTO on them Atem Mini Pro. Works when I press test In Companion. But not on the SrteamDeck and the Webbuttonse in Companion
Hi Soren, sounds like you don't have the OSC module set up. Auto button has a short/long press function on it, and needs OSC operating to function properly ua-cam.com/video/qeBlpOVNe-w/v-deo.html
I Think OSC is setup. It’s green in Companion. And some buttons work with longpress, but not all.
Fantastic!!!!
Awesome thank you! Will this also work with the original Atem mini? (Not pro)
Yes. Most functions will work with the Mini. Streaming and Recording wont for obvious reasons.
Please do a video for new version 3.0 for the xtream
version
It's in the works - thanks for your interest!
Can I ask how you get the QR code on a button?
You're making me re-think and upscale my stream deck setup! Awesome stuff. I think I might steal a few ideas and program myself, I use QLab rather than VLC, but love loads of this! thanks
Yes, just copy the Emulator button website address (or whatever link you're trying to create), then just go to www.qr-code-generator.com/ and paste it in (I literally screen-shot the QR code without signing up and then dropped it on the Stream Deck button). Glad you could adapt this for your QLab workflow!
Wow!!! This is awesome. Great work you put into this. Many thanks to make it available!!! Is it possible to use it with stream deck Ipad app without having the actual Stream Deck? Thanks again!!!
Yes totally works! Just need to adapt the 32 buttons into a 15 layout. I'll consider creating a 15 button adaptation.
@@davidjoshuaford perfect I'll give it a try. It would be great a 15 button adaptation, since I watched your videos and you mentioned some pages cannot be changed or removed, I'm bit scared to try to adapt it myself :( .many thanks for your great work!!!
Can this profile run for atem hd?
Hi Ganesh, yes it will.
Amazing, but I am on the Atem Extreme ISO which makes it hard to use as is. Are you thinking of upgrading?
Yes, working on it!

Yes...watch this space! Probably within a few weeks.

how can i link a ipad to the companion software?
Hi Fredy, make sure Companion's server is running on the wifi network address (not the local 127.0.0.1), then click the Emulator button in the computer's web browser. Copy that address into your iPad/tablet/phone's web browser.

It is very nice that YOU can do all those things, but it doesn't help anybody! Why don't you show us how to set it up?!
Hi Ficktao - this video is 1 part of a 4 video series - check my channel for the other videos showing how to Install and Build your own buttons.
Nnk
Ya know, I watched this video, and realized it was nothing but a giant advertisement to your companion profiles you are selling - you should really update the page text in description to mention that the companion profiles you mention ARE NOT AVAILABLE anymore, instead, it's a straight promotion for your new $90.00 profile. While I appreciate what you can do by showing what is possible, there's no way I would have sat through an hour long video!!
You tell us at the beginning that everything we see3 here we can download... so I watch, and learn, and then feel suckered because you not only lied in the video, you lied in your description.
