Thanks for the advise, pretty much exactly what I've done. bought a set of 5 star mag wheels from mopedarmy and have an E50 engine with an Airsal 70cc kit ready to install - I'm going to keep the ZA50 as a spare once I've rebuilt it. There was too much rust on the frame and tank unfortunately so I repainted it (I get to choose the colour at least), waiting on that to fully set up before I do any more.
There are still 13 spokes intact... but I don't know if the damage was from a defect and could affect the entire wheel or from an impact that perhaps damaged others at the same time. There is a small chip out of an adjacent spoke, so I'm going to replace it. Will be stripping the bike down and wont be riding on that wheel anymore - I just wanted to see how it was before I made any changes.
This is my first moped so I dont want to give you bad advice. I'll have to steer you towards the MopedArmy website, if you search google for "moped army preformance faq" the first result has a list of stuff to do.
Hey. When i finally tested my bike (exactly like yours) it doesnt want to go past 25mph (says the speedo) what could i do (keeping it stock) except for removing the baffle make it go faster? If you possibly know. :) thanks
Nice! I also have a 79 magnum...but my MKII isnt anywhere near as stock as yours... Unless you are trying to keep her original invest in some mag wheels and slap a kit on it. Im running a 21mm carb, reeds, and the 64cc polini kit. Rips at 55mph all day. Also when the ZA50 changes gears youre going to want to ease up on the throttle... this will improve the longevity of your transmission even with a stock set up. Seriously tho mod that beast. I have a stock moby that would kill it.
If I was riding a Motorcycle I'd be wearing pants/long sleeves. It's a Moped, I can go faster on my Bicycle and I'd never wear pants on that. The gloves are to give me better grip.
